Honestly at this point I'm becoming more convinced that Hiro sees 4chan more as a side business, like a little crackhouse on the outskirts of tokyo. This is highly evidenced by the fact that not even Webp is supported yet despite the image format increasing in popularity recently and having over 10+ years of security hardening behind it.

It NEEDS better image compression formats. Have you noticed that when you upload a JPG/PNG it's not the same file size when you download it?

That could be Jpeg XL or AVIF but that would be risky since those don't have a lot of software support and Jpeg XL only works on iToddler web browsers. Not to mention that both will rape older CPUs for decoding.

Webp isn't great but it's also not terrible like the luddites want you to believe. It offers some compression improvements compared to JPG but more importantly it BTFO PNG and GIF, which is apparently esoteric knowledge here... on the FUCKING """technology""" board.
