When I was a teenager I'd download porn from xtube and that was a fucking 5D-chess move. Considering how cheap storage is nowadays, the real question is "why would you NOT backup things you like".

Not to mention that platforms suffer from ongoing enshittification, which means that watching old videos from backup drives might be unironically better than watching new content on an AI-infested website with unskippable ads every five minutes. I have a folder with 40 hours of a high-quality pop-sci show about space. I can imagine that in 20 years it will still be somewhat relevant, because while space is still interesting as fuck, the days of rapid advancements in physics are over. Well that was because I was using a Windows XP theme when I took that screenshot. Here is an updated screenshot, as I went back using Breeze theme.

Its a QT6 application. So it will use whatever theme you are using for QT / KDE. It will work on Gnome or hyperland or whatever you are using for your DE / WM. It will default to whatever is the default for QT.

I mostly use it to watch videos locally in mpv so I can avoid all the social media cancer. I do archive some stuff long term on my media server though. Since youtube became shit around 10 years ago and it became impossible to find all the comfy 'conspiracy' content I used to enjoy watching with my friends. seems like this is the right thread to ask, how do I set up yt-dlp to tun through a channel and get all videos with the video file names having the timestamp first, followed by the default naming it uses? like "2025-03-12 {video name} (youtube id).mp4"?

there are some channels I want to both archive and re-watch, and watching it from my computer would be preferred. I just need them to be in chronological order. yt-dlp just puts the file name in the default download name, so the channel files would end up random.
