Ok heres a stupid question.

I download a copy of Windows 10 LTSC from the interwebs. I copy this downloaded ISO to a flash stick on my main PC. I then take this usb flash stick and put it into my laptop. I formatted and installed windows 10 LTSC to my laptop.
The username is the same as my PC. I dont really recall putting a username in as I installed that OS. was that possible or wtf happened?

I cloned my disk to upgrade to another ssd.
But now when I use file explorer to search for pictures or other files, it will only search and find the pictures I had on the old disk before the cloning. Any new pics I put over in the new disk do not show up in the search results at all.
What might have fucked up? Is the search directory somehow linked to the old disk (which is still plugged in and became my E drive instead of C)

I wonder what encryption means in this context. Generally encryption means that when someone takes the drive they can't read it without a decryption key/password.

Yes, things can get a bit fucky assumed it's truly a clone - with exact same filesystem UUIDs and everything. Generally you should remove the old drive after cloning.

How to mass download images off a thread? Every other browser extension or monkey script just adds a gallery mode which is pointless.

Gallery-dl works thus far and can download from arch.b4k well, but it doesn't download anything from warosu.
Here's a sample thread for reference, 4 images: https://warosu.org/jp/thread/35863371

containers are NOT vm's. on the most basic level, containers are volumes that are chrooted into, so they inherit the host's kernel but have their own filesystem scope. virtualization is when a translation layer is present (like a VM hypervisor for guest OS's, or even runtimes like java or .net)

virtualization -> virtual machine = emulator
The guest system has its own emulated hardware, BIOS, and kernel. They may use a lot of host side hardware tricks and special shim devices to make the emulation cost near zero, but it's a different execution environment from the ground up.

Containers always use the same kernel as the host system. The kernel provides alternate namespaces for filesystem, users, network, ..., which when used to their fullest extent looks like a virtual machine running the same kernel with a different userspace.

>>106029799
>containers are volumes that are chrooted into

Rather frequently while browsing on Firefox, my screen goes grey for a while until it resolves it by itself, or until I move my mouse up to the top of my screen where the tabs are. I've found that it happens pretty often when I'm on YouTube.

Is this malware or something, or does it simply have something to do with Firefox itself? I ran Malwarebytes and nothing came up. It only ever happens on one computer across different Windows installations. I'm on a Windows installation I got the iso for from the /fwt/.

Did I get pwned by Ivan?

Uploading is fine I think, no problems there, but everything is stalling or super slow when downloading. I'm 100% sure these torrents have a ton of seeders and I'm pretty sure I set up ProtonVPN correctly using their official guide. Is this normal or is it user error? Pretty frustrating.

>which one do i use?
If you already got something like an Android phone you could use your already existing Gmail app. Or if you got a Windows PC and it already comes with Outlook you can use that. There's plenty to choose from and Mozilla's Thunderbird is fairly popular.

Pretty much all motherboards will show some kind of splash while booting the firmware before passing control over to the actual OS bootloader (which is where windows actually starts running and can then display the bitlocker screen or whatever else it wants).

Also people getting into the BIOS usually happens with a keypress like Del or F11.

Yeah very different thinking. It's not just "allocating memory", in C you're basically usually working with physical memory addresses, while in python you're working with abstract objects that the compiler probably stores somewhere.
So for example in C it makes a lot of difference whether you pass a pointer to an object or copy the entire object somewhere else, or move the object and free the old memory. Also if anyone else was holding pointers to that object at the same time, they will be invalid if you move the object, or they will refer to the old object if you make a copy. You have to think about all of that yourself, you can't just think about "the object", you have to think about "the area of memory which stores data represnting this object" and all your operations are not on that object, but on that area of memory.
Want to read a property of the object - are you sure that area of the memory still validly represents that object? Want to update that object - same question, and also are you sure the data you're writing to it will fit in the space the object is currently taking up and won't overwrite anything else? Etc. etc.

Different languages have different levels of how much you need to worry about specific things like this. E.g. Rust also needs you to manage memory but it has a very strict type system, so you can usually get away with actually just manipulating "objects" and the compiler will take care of the raw memory for you, but you have to satisfy very strict compiler rules for that. Python just manages everything and you don't need to think about almost any of this, so in that way it's almost the polar opposite of C (at the cost of being horribly slow and memory-hungry for any sort of complicated software).

Sometimes you can multiplex over them. E.g. if you have two 1G ports, and connect them both, you can run a transfer at ~2Gbps (assuming the other side can do the same)
Other times it's useful for network isolation. But that's mostly useful for devices that will run as servers and/or routers. IDK if you'd ever really use that on a desktop. But you could, for example if you have a really ghetto home network with no fancy routing or switching, you might have a NAS that you just connect with an ethernet cable straight to your PC, and it's not accessible from your router.

Is router 2 doing its own NAT? If so don't, it makes for a giant headache for what you're trying to do. It's the problem peer-to-peer apps have to solve, and there's ways to do it (look up NAT punching) but you do not need NAT at all here, so just disable it.
I don't really see why you don't want to change it to bridge mode, but if you really don't, just assign a subnet to it. Then, pinging PC2 with PC1 is just a matter of making sure the firewall is configured correctly.

router1 does not have a routing table entry to forward packets destined to PC2's IP to router2.

Router1's default gateway is set to forward everything to internet.
Router2's default gateway is set to forward everything to Router1.
PC2 sends ping to Router2. Router2 forwards everyhing to Router1. Router1 knows PC1, forwards the ping to PC1.
PC1 sends ping to Router1. Router1 doesnt know about PC2. Router1 sends to internet.

To fix it, set a static routing table entry for 10.1.2.0/24 in Router1 to forward to Router2's IP, assuming PC2's IP is something like 10.1.2.3.

You're not trying to access it from the router, you're trying to access it from the other PC.
When you connect the two PCs directly with the ethernet cable, you're forming a network consisting of exactly these two PCs. The router is not on that network and knows absolutely nothing about that network; it is completely disconnected from that network. Each PC will have an IP on that network. That's what you need.

>reallocated sectors
These are sectors the drive has previously found questionable that it has determined are bad and have been MOVED to spare space
Each sector is 4kb so you have about 1mb of bad sectors
The real issue here is if these sectors have slowly accumulated or suddenly appeared. If you have done your scrubbing this should be easier to determine.
I would clone/backup the disk then see what happens to the bad sector counts
If nothing much changes (+/- maybe 5 sectors) probably keep using the disk and make sure you scrub it minimum monthly
This part is mostly speculation but I will offer it (esp without more (SMART) info)
Your drive is probably fine, you just encountered defects that will slowly grow with the disks age, having redundancy/backups/RAID (RAID is not a backup) is a good idea going forward, but if you regularly scrub all your data is safe (assuming no other issues)

first tell me what IP PC2 has, in this example I assume 10.0.0.123.
I assume Router1 has the IP 10.0.1.1 on the LAN interface and 123.123.123.123 on the WAN interface.
I assume Router2 has the IP 10.0.0.1 on the LAN interface and 10.0.1.200 on the "WAN" interface (link between Router2 and Router1).
you open the openwrt UI of router1 (you ARE using openwrt, arent you anon?)
you go to network->routing->static ipv4 routes.
you click on add.
Interface: the logical interface where PC1 is connected.
route type: unicast
target: 10.0.0.0/24 (I'm assuming PC2 is 10.0.0.123)
gateway: 10.0.1.200

Networking 101:
Hop1:
PC1 creates a packet destined to 10.0.0.123. It looks up the routing table. It can't find 10.0.0.123 in its table, it sends it to its default gateway 10.0.1.1. PC1 looks up how to reach 10.0.1.1, it finds a link-local route to 10.0.1.1/24 on eth0. It queries the MAC address of Router1. It sets the MAC address of Router1 as destination. It throws the packets onto the eth0 interface. The packets are now Router1's problem.

Hop2:
The packet with the destination 10.0.0.123 arrives on LAN at Router1, Router1 looks up our newly created table and sees that everything destined to 10.0.0.0/24 should be forwarded to 10.0.1.200. Router1 looks up how to reach 10.0.1.200, it finds a link-local route to 10.0.1.0/24 on LAN (it was autoconfigured). It queries the MAC address of Router2. It sets the MAC address of Router2 as destination. It throws the packets onto the LAN interface. The packets are now Router2's problem.

Hop3:
Router2 now receives the packets (the destination MAC is its own). It looks up the IP destination, it's 10.0.0.123. It looks up how to forward this packet. It finds a link-local route to 10.0.0.0/24 on LAN (it was autoconfigured). It queries the MAC address of PC2. It sets the MAC address of PC2 as destination. It throws the packets onto the LAN interface. The packets are now PC2's problem.

Hop4:
The packet has arrived.

however you must check if forwarding is disabled between the two interfaces of Router2. I think the link between Router2 and Router1 is called "WAN" in Router2. I this case Router2 treats everything from Router1 as "Internet" and will drop any packets from there destined to its internal network, it will simply not route anything that comes from the "internet". This is the default secure behavior for routers (you dont want the ISP to be able to reach your internal network, do you?).
You can change this behavior in openwrt on Router2 in Network->Firewall->General Settings under "Zones".

Remove the rule "wan->REJECT [reject] [accept] [reject] [x]" (this the default rule in openwrt)

Add the following rule:
Input: accept
Output: accept
Forward: accept
Masquerading: off
Allow forward to destination zones: lan
Allow forward from source zones: wan

That's normal, at this step you should only get a list of search results.
What you do next is you click on some that look like they make sense and read to figure out the steps you need to do.
Then you do those steps.
Then you should get an IP address, and if anything specific didn't work, you can ask about that specific thing.

I mean everything seems fine in there. The computer didnโ€™t shut off, I shut it off. Do you think Iโ€™m fine to plug it back in? Itโ€™s been drying for about 6 hours now and like I said no visible damage. The the droplets were tiny almost like someone hit it with a mister.

240hz monitor that runs with extremely low latency on display port, recommendations? I tried an Acer Predator and it has stupid cable issues - has to run in HDMI mode to start then I can switch it over. Please recommend something good that is reliable. I need a monitor to ship with arcade cabinets so it must be able to be zero maintenance for the operator.

How do you quote/green text with numbers at the beginning of the ">>" sign? I don't remember this being an issue awhile back but its really annoying seeing (dead) with numbers you're trying to quote.

Catfish blood bait, aka "charlie bait". That shit is positively vile. Comes in a sealed bucket. Smear it all over the bench, nobody will come within 15ft of it.
