But now when I use file explorer to search for pictures or other files, it will only search and find the pictures I had on the old disk before the cloning. Any new pics I put over in the new disk do not show up in the search results at all.

Whats the difference between containerization and application virtualization?
On google everyone compares containerization with VMs which seems an easier distinction than application virtualization. But im also a retard
>>106029675containers are NOT vm's. on the most basic level, containers are volumes that are chrooted into, so they inherit the host's kernel but have their own filesystem scope. virtualization is when a translation layer is present (like a VM hypervisor for guest OS's, or even runtimes like java or .net)

>>106029675What's "application virtualisation"?
>>106029675virtualization -> virtual machine = emulator
The guest system has its own emulated hardware, BIOS, and kernel. They may use a lot of host side hardware tricks and special shim devices to make the emulation cost near zero, but it's a different execution environment from the ground up.
Containers always use the same kernel as the host system. The kernel provides alternate namespaces for filesystem, users, network, ..., which when used to their fullest extent looks like a virtual machine running the same kernel with a different userspace.
>>106029799>containers are volumes that are chrooted intoWrong on both counts.

p-please respond...
>>106029288
>>106028825Yeah very different thinking. It's not just "allocating memory", in C you're basically usually working with physical memory addresses, while in python you're working with abstract objects that the compiler probably stores somewhere.
So for example in C it makes a lot of difference whether you pass a pointer to an object or copy the entire object somewhere else, or move the object and free the old memory. Also if anyone else was holding pointers to that object at the same time, they will be invalid if you move the object, or they will refer to the old object if you make a copy. You have to think about all of that yourself, you can't just think about "the object", you have to think about "the area of memory which stores data represnting this object" and all your operations are not on that object, but on that area of memory.
Want to read a property of the object - are you sure that area of the memory still validly represents that object? Want to update that object - same question, and also are you sure the data you're writing to it will fit in the space the object is currently taking up and won't overwrite anything else? Etc. etc.
Different languages have different levels of how much you need to worry about specific things like this. E.g. Rust also needs you to manage memory but it has a very strict type system, so you can usually get away with actually just manipulating "objects" and the compiler will take care of the raw memory for you, but you have to satisfy very strict compiler rules for that. Python just manages everything and you don't need to think about almost any of this, so in that way it's almost the polar opposite of C (at the cost of being horribly slow and memory-hungry for any sort of complicated software).

>>106030742Sometimes you can multiplex over them. E.g. if you have two 1G ports, and connect them both, you can run a transfer at ~2Gbps (assuming the other side can do the same)
Other times it's useful for network isolation. But that's mostly useful for devices that will run as servers and/or routers. IDK if you'd ever really use that on a desktop. But you could, for example if you have a really ghetto home network with no fancy routing or switching, you might have a NAS that you just connect with an ethernet cable straight to your PC, and it's not accessible from your router.
Is there a way to connect to PCs with ethernet cable to transfer data?

>>106033782>reallocated sectorsThese are sectors the drive has previously found questionable that it has determined are bad and have been MOVED to spare space
Each sector is 4kb so you have about 1mb of bad sectors
The real issue here is if these sectors have slowly accumulated or suddenly appeared. If you have done your scrubbing this should be easier to determine.
I would clone/backup the disk then see what happens to the bad sector counts
If nothing much changes (+/- maybe 5 sectors) probably keep using the disk and make sure you scrub it minimum monthly
This part is mostly speculation but I will offer it (esp without more (SMART) info)
Your drive is probably fine, you just encountered defects that will slowly grow with the disks age, having redundancy/backups/RAID (RAID is not a backup) is a good idea going forward, but if you regularly scrub all your data is safe (assuming no other issues)

I assume Router2 has the IP 10.0.0.1 on the LAN interface and 10.0.1.200 on the "WAN" interface (link between Router2 and Router1).
you open the openwrt UI of router1 (you ARE using openwrt, arent you anon?)
you go to network->routing->static ipv4 routes.
you click on add.
Interface: the logical interface where PC1 is connected.
route type: unicast
target: 10.0.0.0/24 (I'm assuming PC2 is 10.0.0.123)
gateway: 10.0.1.200
Networking 101:
Hop1:
PC1 creates a packet destined to 10.0.0.123. It looks up the routing table. It can't find 10.0.0.123 in its table, it sends it to its default gateway 10.0.1.1. PC1 looks up how to reach 10.0.1.1, it finds a link-local route to 10.0.1.1/24 on eth0. It queries the MAC address of Router1. It sets the MAC address of Router1 as destination. It throws the packets onto the eth0 interface. The packets are now Router1's problem.
Hop2:
The packet with the destination 10.0.0.123 arrives on LAN at Router1, Router1 looks up our newly created table and sees that everything destined to 10.0.0.0/24 should be forwarded to 10.0.1.200. Router1 looks up how to reach 10.0.1.200, it finds a link-local route to 10.0.1.0/24 on LAN (it was autoconfigured). It queries the MAC address of Router2. It sets the MAC address of Router2 as destination. It throws the packets onto the LAN interface. The packets are now Router2's problem.
Hop3:
Router2 now receives the packets (the destination MAC is its own). It looks up the IP destination, it's 10.0.0.123. It looks up how to forward this packet. It finds a link-local route to 10.0.0.0/24 on LAN (it was autoconfigured). It queries the MAC address of PC2. It sets the MAC address of PC2 as destination. It throws the packets onto the LAN interface. The packets are now PC2's problem.
Hop4:
The packet has arrived.
>>106038909however you must check if forwarding is disabled between the two interfaces of Router2. I think the link between Router2 and Router1 is called "WAN" in Router2. I this case Router2 treats everything from Router1 as "Internet" and will drop any packets from there destined to its internal network, it will simply not route anything that comes from the "internet". This is the default secure behavior for routers (you dont want the ISP to be able to reach your internal network, do you?).
You can change this behavior in openwrt on Router2 in Network->Firewall->General Settings under "Zones".
Remove the rule "wan->REJECT [reject] [accept] [reject] [x]" (this the default rule in openwrt)
Add the following rule:
Input: accept
Output: accept
Forward: accept
Masquerading: off
Allow forward to destination zones: lan
Allow forward from source zones: wan

>>106038034That's normal, at this step you should only get a list of search results.
What you do next is you click on some that look like they make sense and read to figure out the steps you need to do.
Then you do those steps.
Then you should get an IP address, and if anything specific didn't work, you can ask about that specific thing.
>>106032191It's not just YouTube, it happens with any page I browse on Firefox, but it happens most frequently with YouTube. I imagine the issue might have something to do with UBO. What's another browser I could try out to see if it's Firefox and/or UBO? Didn't Google remove support for UBO on Chrome a while ago?

Is it normal for cores 8-15 to be running slower than cores 0-7 on a 9950x3d using PBO?

240hz monitor that runs with extremely low latency on display port, recommendations? I tried an Acer Predator and it has stupid cable issues - has to run in HDMI mode to start then I can switch it over. Please recommend something good that is reliable. I need a monitor to ship with arcade cabinets so it must be able to be zero maintenance for the operator.

How do you quote/green text with numbers at the beginning of the ">>" sign? I don't remember this being an issue awhile back but its really annoying seeing (dead) with numbers you're trying to quote.

With 4chanX and XT I can press F and it hides all the replies without an image, how can I also hide all the replies containing .mp4 and .webm?
