Windows 7 is still more usable than linux, excluding support for latest hardware. You can technically install it on up to date workstations despite that they don't really support windows 7. Regardless, all hardware from its era works just fine with it, and its mostly more comfortable to use than linux. Older proprietary productivity software from Windows 7 era, like photoshop or sony vegas, still mog modern linux alternatives like gimp, krita or kdenlive.

I use W11 but lets be honest, Microsoft doesnt need to release a new OS every 5 years when they can just update the previous OS gradually to have all the new features.

w11 at this point is a overhauled OS, until recently it was the same as w10 under the hood with a reskin so there was no point to not moving unto it but since the very recent overhaul it's still in open beta test so it's ideal to wait a bit more

Seriously question, because i almost did that, and while i was waiting five minutes for the Win11 installation to boot, i was thinking to myself: "What the fuck am i doing?"
I then kicked it out and installed Win10 LTSC.

If Microsoft says that Win11 doesn't run on this hardware, why would i disagree? Why would i force myself into a fucked up state, where any random update could wreck it, because the CPU doesn't have some instruction it now requires.
For me, it seems like the dumbest course of action.
Because even if you just stay on Win10 Home and do nothing, without updates, you still have a usable system that isn't going to randomly break, because it supports the hardware.
