RTX 50 Super: might launch in Q4 '25, 24GB VRAM for 5070 Ti & 5080 Super, 18GB for 5070 Super

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.
Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V). Win10 E-core scheduler subpar in multi-threaded loads.
Onboard audio: ALC987 - mediocre; ALC4080 (USB Audio) - immature; ALC1220 (HD audio) - premium, mature driver.
X870E: USB - M2 lane sharing

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

According to user reviews, the drivers are immature, there is popping and whining even though it's supposed to be only installed on more or less mid-high tier motherboards with good shielding & quality components.

ALC1220 on classic HD Audio bus and its derivatives is better and they're still putting it into premium motherboards.

There is no noticeable input delay on modern peripherals. Even cheap Chinese keyboards have low input latency via 2.4ghz dongles and modern wireless mice can support all the way up to 8k polling wirelessly. I use wireless peripherals for competitive gaming and don't have any issues at all. Because Bluetooth is shit and not designed for low latency unless they support a specific low latency version of it which the vast majority don't, because they don't need to as they're not designed to be low latency. >NVMe or SATA 2.5" SSDs?
>(for NAS where all disks are connected externally via USB)
inb4 don't do it

Basically I'm already using an old laptop for my NAS, and even though the idea of building something is nice so all the disks fit inside neatly etc, that likely won't ever happen because I always get 'hand me downs' from people i.e. when people get a new PC they give me their old ones either to use or to dispose of. And they are all either laptops or mini PCs. At least one every few years. So I will always have a slow stream of perfectly good computers I can repurpose as my NAS or for my other server purposes. So basically unless I want to waste money for appearance's and neatness's sake (which I don't because I'm not a woman), I'm always going to use USB for my NAS disks.

Given that, is there any point to getting NVMe disks? Or are SATA better if using USB?

Isn't heat an issue with NVMe? Even via USB, even at idle, don't NVMe run quite hot for no reason?
Also because NVMe are supposed to plug into the motherboard, they rely on HMB and don't have DRAM cache. Thus if connected by USB they won't have either, while a good SATA SSD will have DRAM?

>seems to be a marketing ploy
it's not since they wont cover warranty or xmp/oc settings if it does not work
plus manufactureres mix and match memory chips
plus ddr5 is even more unstable than ddr4
so what is the point
don't even save any money at all either

fuck all this nonsense talk about ddr5 and ddr4 speed.
I just watched a bunch of benchmarks where most of the time ddr4 3600 had the same or only slightly less fps than ddr5 6000
sure some games had like 10% more fps but the majority had the same fps.
so 4x32gb is the way to go.
If I really wanna go all out I just have to remove 2 sticks and get the buff.

ddr4 has not beaten ddr5 for a while now
ddr4 might be fine to reach optimal performance in esports still but that ddr5 bandwidth or whatever fuckery is kicking in
ddr4 has been dead for a while now
and to even make this comparison you would be on older intel
>so 4x32gb is the way to go.
no

Does any other component influence AI image and video generation speeds/quality other than GPU?

Can I get away with an AM4 DDR4 rig but a 50 series RTX GPU?

it depends if you get a 5090 you have enough vram for the most models.
but they keep getting bigger so you will also need ram in the future since they will not fit in your vram
so if you're getting a 5090 you're fine with slow ram for now.
if you're getting anything that isn't a 5090 you need fast ram.

yes there's currently not much difference in gaming between DDR4 3600 CL16 and DDR5 6000 CL30
that is, CURRENTLY and IN GAMING
people that are upgrading their PC now, probably are upgrading volume of RAM too
It makes no sense to buy more DDR4 in 2025, and AM5, the premiere gaming platform in #currentyear, only supports DDR5 anyway

So DDR5 is the way to go:
if you are upgrading to AM5
or
if you are upgrading volume from 2x8 or 2x16 gb DDR4 to 2x16 or 2x32 gb DDR5

I have contemplated staying on DDR4 since I have 32GB 3600 CL16, but there's just not enough price difference to justify it
Motherboards with decent features that I want are all DDR5
