Exactly what's the point of low package count on Unix-based systems?

Unless you're extremely tight on disk space, there is literally no advantage.

Those thighs are great

Also basically yes, feel free to have a whole bunch of shit installed that you don't need, constantly needing updates and using disk space when you don't even use them ever.
Just don't have shit you never use.

Package count is especially arbitrary when you consider different repos package things differently.
Most count metrics are seemingly pointless in tech.

it's a meme by autists. packages and services that never launch have no impact since we got pcie5 NVME tech. hell any NVME of any gen.

freetards turns the computing paradigms of 1965 into a religion and they're just stuck there mentally, despite most of the current cohort never having been alive at that time. Basically they're 'le wrong generation' hipsters

The GNU package manager, Guix, uses far more space than APT or RPM.

Whenever I use dpkg -l | wc -l infront of a female they get turned on by the low 3 digit package count

It doesn't even necessarily benefit disk space, since 1 package might take up more space than 10 other packages. I think it just feels "tidier" to them.

Opposing package splitting isn't just a "feels" thing.
It's objectively easier for the sysadmin to maintain.
For example, it's literally why Systemd took over. One repo "suite" versus many tools that do one thing and do it well.
RPM and DEB fags can't simultaneously rave about the benefits of package splitting, while also using Systemd. It's hypocrisy. (Yes Archfags are retarded too, but for different reasons).
Gentoo gives you full control of dependency management (reducing attack surface) and the init system.

Things that you donโ€™t use but just collect will require maintenance as well. An ideal OS should only comprise the components you use, plus any occasional pieces those components need to work.

The less bloat you have installed, the smaller is the attack surface for hackers.
This isn't a if, a but, a actually, it's a fact.

you are stupid if you don't understand that IOPS on HDDs and NVME work differently due to the fact that HDDs have a slow and fast read area
unused files in the fast zone of an HDD will cause issues even in never read
the fact that I had to explain this further proves you are too dumb for tech
