RTX 50 Super specs: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5060 Ti: Both memory configs cost more than 9060 XT 16GB for the same performance and half the PCIe lanes. Only buy if you need cuda or value GeForce features that highly.
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.
Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V).

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

I want a real answer from people who actually have a 4090. Is it worth it? Have a 7900gre and I can play most of my games with no issues, but there are a few that I have no chance of pushing to 120 4k so Ive been thinking of getting a used 4090. How worth is it realistically besides just bragging rights?
Anonymous No.106141294 [Report]
>>106141256
Not worth the premium in the used market atm.
You need to rely on (M)FG for the highest 4K settings, and they're imperfect solutions.

Definitely not worth paying $1000+ for a used card that depending on how much use it's seen could very likely have a degraded even if the melting is only cosmetic so far connector. Just waitfag however long it takes to buy a 9070 XT as close to MSRP as you can then sell the 7900gre to cover probably at least half the cost of the upgrade, you'll get a bit of raw performance uplift 25 to 30 percent and be able to use FSR 4 in 90 percent of games either natively or via optiscaler to push higher fps at 4k.

Most games will still have to utilize one CCX due to cross-CCD latency.
That cross-CCD latency causes massive performance penalties, where you can see a 9950X performing worse than a 5600X or a 12600K.

FTFY, enjoy the stutters everytime the game switches to using a core on a different ccd. AMD is only considering this because retards that don't understand how chiplets work will just buy it because they think more always equals better. Smart wait Chad's are holding out for zen6 and a 12 cores on one ccd x3d cpu. That will last probably 10 years.

I've spent a few hours looking into this now and it doesn't look like there's an easy way to get greater than 60hz via docking station through HDMI at 1440p. Theyre all marketed as 4k @ 60hz so youd think 2k should be able to get better refresh, but every dock I've checked maxes out at 60hz. Looked into USB C to HDMI adapters and user manual specifically noted that that will cap things at 60hz. Frustrated as it seems these docks should be capable of so much more, even limited to HDMI, but what do I know

It's not dual CPU it's dual X3D. You can say the current 9950X3D is divided in half and has 3D cache on one half only. For games and shit you want to make sure your OS isn't scheduling threads to the half of the cores that don't have the 3D cache. The rumored dual X3D wouldn't have this problem.

What's your memory kit's speed? It might be causing instabilities if it's faster than 6000MT/s.
Go to the board BIOS and disable EXPO. If it's caused by the DRAM, you will have to reinstall the OS.
You can set the manual speed afterwards to 6000MT/s and some simple primary timing like 30 tCAS, 40 tRCD, and 40 tRP.
You can leave tRAS & voltages on [Auto].

This is a likely issue if the BIOS is automatically trying to run 6400MT/s in 1:1 MEMCLK:UCLK, but most boards drop down to 1:2 mode for stability.

Benchmarking the Total War engine is a waste of everyone's time; it's not well-maintained.
Creative Assembly's been faking "in-game footage" previews with scripted battles, then the programmers had to find a way to replicate that footage within the archaic engine's limitations.

I picked up an RX 580 because my VEGA 64 started failing. VEGA was just having a temper tantrum; apparently, it now works just fine. But I think part of the issue is that the design of the card lets it cook itself to death after about an hour or so of heavy use. So does anyone know a good screwdriver set for swapping the heatsink and fans from the cards? I have access to some that are the right size and head, but are long as fuck and not made for this kind of work.

You act like a graphics card is some sort of investment. You buy one to play video games. If you've been playing video games on yours for half a year and then a new model comes out that's 5% faster, but your card is still performing as it always did and playing your games, you're not going to give a single fuck.

Now if you're an AIfag and bought a 16GB card instead of 24GB for the same price then you may experience some buttfrustration over the VRAM.

You can't judge the readout on the RAM, it may not be accurate to how much is actually needed at a given time. Some of it is just holding prior data to be garbage'd in time. The only people who need 64+ are productivity prosumers who already definitively know the answer to their question, or people who don't close their tabs for whatever reason.

How do you people even do that? I close a tab once I'm done with it, I close the window when I'm done with it. I'm not going back and forth through miles of tabs, neither for work nor leisure.

Wood jammed into metal frames looked bad. It was the standard during that very brief fad period and so a lot of cases ended up looking bad. Big metal, plastic and glass boxes with streaks of brown at the front. If you want to make a case that is wood themed the entire thing should look like a wooden box with some metal reinforcements. Look at classic jukeboxes for inspiration.

Noctuas look bad in wood builds because they explicitly do not look like wood. Like cancerous mushrooms sticking onto the inner surfaces. Maybe that might be the intention though.

Because the point for the comparison is to see how each case stacks up against each other, not how it does at stock. That is mostly pointless information. Those who don't care about adding more fans will happily accept a +5C case without ever noticing it. Those who care will want to know whether their new case has the potential to be good or has serious inherent flaws that cannot be overcome. Benchmarking stock configs is pointless and also limits you to cases that come with fans.

Why *don't* case manufacturers make feet that are tall enough to put things underneath and have plenty of clearance to reduce dust intake? Or adjustable feet for that matter? It's just an extra screw mount per feet.

Why don't AIO manufacturers instead of putting useless decos on the pump block even on budget models try putting a single "master" screw on the top that is connected to the mounting screws or some other solution? You rotate that one screw and it applies pressure equally on all sides. I can think of simple ways to retain it without relying solely on friction so it'd be easy to make secure.

bought a new 4k oled display last month, and my PC has been randomly crashing ever since. when it happens, both my displays go out, audio continues to play, peripherals continue to have power, fans all ramp up to 100%. i can use remote desktop to log into the system and see the cursor move when i move the mouse but with no graphics output, so the system is /somewhat/ responsive still. event viewer has nothing for the time other than an unexpected shutdown:
>The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

i've noticed that it happens more when there's appliances running on this side of the house, but it'll also just happen randomly at 5am while it's idling. all i can think of is that the circuit my system is on is sketchy and this new monitor is bringing the total load high enough that it all shits the bed, which an AVR UPS could solve

any ideas?

Socket AM6 that will support Zen 6 & Zen 7 will have much higher pin density but apparently AMD is gonna keep the plate dimensions basically the same to preserve cooler compatibility with existing ones used in AM4/5. It's a known fact that the IHS was intentionally made thicker in AM5 fro the same reason which gave them slight thermal penalty but I guess AMD figures since the chips run cooler most of the time it's worth it for continued backwards compatibility especially for enterprise/server customers that want to keep reusing as much of their hardware as possible to cut down on acquisition costs.

LCD screens, by comparison, cost actual pennies which is why they add them.

Damn, imagine paying twice the price of an LCD to risk burn-in (unavoidable, but again, ASUS/MSI drones on this board will deny this) and to have a purple screen unless you use it at a specific time of the day or put your place in a specific lighting condition.

You can shit on VA for being smeary, IPS for glowing and TN for its viewing angles, but then praising and recommending QD-OLED as the superior tech by telling others to ignore all the major downsides this technology has, telling them they need to do this and that and only to play at night to properly use their >$1K monitor makes you a salesman or someone in denial.

You miss the point. It's done like this to measure how the screen react to ambient light. Of course blacks will never look this purple unless you flash light directly onto your screen, it's still a good indicator of how it behaves if you're not in a dark room. Unless you imply that the problem suddenly disappears if you don't flash a halo light onto it.

>I'm not saying WOLED is better overall, it's just for comparison.
Fair enough. Coatings are distinct from the panel tech underneath them. Samsung sells their own G60SD & G80SD QD-OLEDs with a matte finish:
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-odyssey-oled-g60sd-s27dg602s-vs-samsung-odyssey-oled-g80sd-s32dg80/63129/63127
And Asus just released their new XG32UCWMG and XG32UCWG WOLEDs (still using last gen panels w/MLA and not the newer Tandem versions unfortunately) with a pure glossy finish:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG0E0k94WBc
https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/asus-debut-two-new-rog-strix-32-woled-monitors-with-new-trueblack-glossy-coating

So you can currently have either panel tech with either coating (and even turn a matte OLED into a glossy one with the damp paper towel method to peel it off). The main difference is the polarizer which does do a good job of rejecting ambient light reflections inside the panel to reduce black level rise. It can't be added to QD-OLED because it is a top-emission structure and it kneecaps brightness efficiency which is already an Achilles's heel of OLED. WOLED can get away with it because it's still bottom-emission (part of why their RGB component brightness is bad) and having a dedicated White subpixel can juice the raw nits output at the cost of color volume.

Samsung does have a polarizer-based QD-OLED panel type that they exclusively use in mobile devices and moving away from it their next-gen polarizer-less version will increase their effective brightness from 3000 to over 5000 nits:
