the risk of duplicated work that comes as cost of trying to maintain a well curated but legally vulnerable database in a system that is inherently centralized is the actual flaw of private trackers. it's not like a free software repository where if the original account gets C&D'd and a dozen people can just fork the current state. yes, shutdowns are rare but there's like one or two sites for everything and if one goes down you go back to square one and better start uploading and combing out the shit again. this is only not an issue with public trackers because those aren't beholden to the cause of quality above all and can hydra the fuck out of the law without friction of torrent moderation man-hours. if RED and OPS go pop simultaneously it will be a decade before a worthy replacement exists that suits the role for those actually looking to listen to music. you might not be able to stop piracy as an option but you can pretty easily take wind out its sails.

Nowadays people ask what a good tracker is and people say "HDB, PTP, BTN, KG" and all these neons see that it's either impossible or takes YEARS to join. Of course that demotivates people who would have joined the community 10+ years ago. Combine this with the fact that piracy in the west is pretty much dead and a niche now and you have lots of oldfags on exclusive trackers and barely any yung bloods. So either the same oldfags do the replacement trackers when one goes down (which I hope) or the whole community just dies.
It's easy to shit about newfags but back then when you wanted to join a movie tracker you could do so within 2 weeks. Now it takes way longer than this and given how few people pirate music even on public trackers, most of them don't even know how to rip shit from Deezer (I actually didn't know either before i joined RED). My whole point is, you can't say "fuck you!" to newfags and wonder why the private tracker scene is slowly but surely dying. A good starting point would be to stop recommending the hardest tracker to join to people who won't probably need them anyway. This will just put them off because they think that all the trackers have requirements like that or that no other options exist. TL, IPT, ATH or ANT are all good enough tracker which are still easy to join and less frustrating to acquire that cabal.

The point I am trying to make is that cabal trackers are not missing what they need. Sure there are plenty of useless people on BTN who just use it to feed Sonarr for example. Cabal is just used synonymously for top tier tracker. Those are: PTP (movie tracker) BTN (TV tracker), HDB (TV/movie w/ heavy focus on high wuality encodes), GGn (Gaming tracker), RED (music tracker) and by far the best cabal: AB (anime tracker).
People use the word cabal because these tracker exchange banned user lists, meaning if you get banned on 1 of these you are banned of all of them.

That's not good. RED will never be an alternative to streaming sites because RED seriously lacks Singles and EPs. People like to make fun of "Deezer slop" but the truth is that most obscure and niche music nowadays only exists on streaming sites, like it or not. The threshold for pressing a CD/Vinyl is just to high for small artists. Uploading their music to Spotify however is fairly simple. That's just how it is nowadays. I love RED but they only have a small portion of the music that I like and it's only really good for the occasional album that got taken down from streaming or never made it there in the first place. REDs library is a joke compared to every streaming site.
