>News & Rumors
RTX 50 Super: might launch in Q4 '25, 24GB VRAM for 5070 Ti & 5080 Super, 18GB for 5070 Super.
ASUS WOLED with TrueBlack Glossy film launched (XG32UCWMG, XG32UCWG). Limited availability.

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.

Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V).

>Product Notice
Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

Wait if you don't need a new card right now, but all those Super cards will be overpriced for a while.
There are some QC issues with those base MSRP PNY models; hopefully they've addressed the rattling fans.
The RTX 40 base MSRP PNY cards also had an annoying zero-rpm fan implementation (runs on and off too often).

Haven't built a pc since ddr3 was a thing.
Looking to build a workstation with a 9950X3D.
I was thinking of doing 4x48GB for 196 gigs of ram 6000CL30, but is the whole 4 sticks of DDR5 RAM perf problem still a thing?

It can be done but you have to have lucky silicon on your memory controller and likely tune it. No guarantee to work but it has been done and it has worked. It's insane to me that they can't figure out how to run 4 sticks at advertised speeds out of the box. Apparently they are going to put the memory controllers on the ram itself next time instead of the cpus.

I only just got cyberpunk during the summer sale and I play it in 4k with ray tracing on high on my 9070xt. At release in 2020 I would have needed a 3090 to do this that cost over $2500 in the market. I got my 9070xt for $630.

That has nothing to do with silicon lottery, it should NOT boost over the max rated boost clock in the first place. It's basically unintentionally self-overclocking itself by a huge amount. Thankfully it's fixable by adjusting a slider in the ayymd driver.

>it should NOT boost over the max rated boost clock in the first place
All of these GPUs (GeForce, Radeon, & Arc) don't have a strict upper limit for the stock boost clocks; these chips are supposed to opportunistically boost as high as they can.
It shouldn't boost high enough to cause instabilities, though.

Even Arc B580's GPU is boosting past 2.8GHz when its average expected gaming boost clock is reported to be in the 2600s.

Did you check each memory stick individually? If none of the memory sticks can pass that test at stock settings, you can't completely rule out the CPU being problematic.
If you've set a custom CPU undervolt or OC, revert it to default when you run memory tests (unless you're sure it's stable).
The CPU is the part that checks for errors; you need to be sure the CPU is stable for these tests.

B770 won't be happening, just like the 9080 XT fan fiction.
These companies usually release their best & most profitable gaming GPUs first.
Refresh halo cards like the 3090 Ti were using a better-binned variant of an existing GPU.
Battlemage GPU design is extremely space inefficient; the B580's die size is slightly larger than a 5070.

A theoretical B770's chip might be larger than the 5080's, and Intel can only charge $500 at best, given the competition.

Is this stock CPU with xmp? I had an issue where my CPU was causing my ram to fail with xmp. It was my 3700x.(I also had bad ram the first time so this was such terrible thing to diagnose). I had to return it for another 3700x. I would see errors in Windows event viewer, I can't remember what they were though but it was many of them. It could be worth a try, I know some stores like microcenter can loan CPUs for cheap, usually for bios updates if you wanted to check?

Let's say I have:
- 1 CPU;
- 2 motherboards of the same model, one of them was used in conjunction with that CPU for 1.5 years, another one is brand new;
- 3 different kits of RAM (2 of them are in mobo's QVL list).

System refuses to post every time there's more than one stick installed, on both mobos. Even more, every time it's DIMM B slot (it is two slot 1DPC motherboard model) that causes trouble. Does this mean the CPU's memory controller is faulty (because it's the only thing that didn't change in the equation)?

They come with some rx 6400 that sells for $100. You then buy something like a 4060/3060ti/Intel equivalent and you're good for around $300 it does have a small PSU so those are the limits basically. Well i5-14600K isn't all that hot under AIDA64 stability test after some adjustments. On stock BIOS, it was 77ยฐC. Probably in the winter I will reverse the case to blow hot air under my table, and default the bios.

>DRAM V 1.40 GEAR1
>VCCSA 1.25
>VDDQ_CPU 1.25
Seems stable, had to relax timings since it froze under normal use after couple hours, despite passing memtest and AIDA stability test.

I will have to firmware flash-out the dumbfuck GIGABYTE RGB LED out of the GPU at some point. OpenRGB offers temporary solution that resets every windows reboot. Not sure if Gigabyte Center bloatware can disable it permanently.

Going to buy a case for it later but it lives inside this coffee table for now.

Thank you for pointing various things as I was building this, anon. Probably would have made more mistakes without this thread.

Regarding the monitor, I think they're really good with like a 1800 to 2000r curve. I have an IPS 21:9 and can't go back, especially for watching movies. Only downside would be if you play some 16:9 locked game for thousands of hours, then you'd probably get worn out pixels after a while. I play a lot of fighting games so I went IPS

You can get an LG 34n850nb for like $200-300 secondhand, I haven't looked at anything new. I do really enjoy the OLED monitors but for my autistic gaming habits, I had to go IPS for risk of wearing out pixels due to having the same ui for thousands of hours in the same spot.

But yes reliability will be IPS, OLED is MUCH nicer though and definitely worth it if you're not an autistlike me. I will eventually go all OLED/micro led when it comes out in the future though. My TV is OLED and it's amazing so I get the luxury of choosing my display

Thoughts on this NAS build for a home media server?
https://pcpartpicker.com/b/xnfPxr
Not mine, but identical usecase. Was going to copy most of it, but maybe size the case down from the Fractal 804 to the 304 (can't imagine a realistic scenario where I'd need 10 drive bays instead of just 6 with large drives), and bump the CPU if I need to transcode or run some one-off apps. Don't plan on running RAID since I'm not using it for backup, just storage, and could always redownload shit if I need to.

Keep the boxes for major components that you may either want to sell or need to RMA in the future.
Video card, motherboard, CPU, PSU, and monitor boxes are the ones I'd keep.
I've sold my CPU & motherboard recently, it was easy to find a buyer since I've kept all the original packaging.
Sold my video card last year, which was also easy to sell because I kept the original box (and shipping packaging).

Iโ€™ve been gradually swapping out parts, still havenโ€™t needed a new case in over a decade. The 6700xt is pretty heavy in it but itโ€™s just fine with some room to spare, I guess it depends how much larger gpus get but Iโ€™ll be able to get am5 chip and MB at some point. Just swapped out one of the original fans that died. Man I love PC gaming.

If you're on an AMD mobo and noticed your system stutters a lot when gaming, check for a BIOS update that mentions a TPM update. IDK what MS did to Windows but it stutters a lot until the TPM is updated.

>After I've done tuning everything and confirmed the power consumption
have you confirmed power consumption at the wall? what i'm saying is that inaccurate DC LL affects your power monitoring in tools like hwinfo
DC LL doesn't affect voltage requests or ACTUAL power consumption, only REPORTED power consumption with monitoring software
AC LL is what gives you an undervolt, you can do as you wish with AC LL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9slwXKUwmnE
i think this is the one (but it's almost 2 hours, good luck)
>Oh I'll look into this, thanks!
hopefully gigabyte put the option in the BIOS
i'm not saying this is why your system froze but if you have power down enabled you have to tune timings like tXP, tCKE, etc, completely unnecessary on a desktop system

My guess is, without being firmly latched, when I'd move my PC the card would shift in the slot since it was not longer firmly held in place and likely just wore something down over time.

Thanks for the clear answer, I kept getting mixed reports from my research so I wasn't sure.
I can live with not running games above medium/high settings, and don't really play recent AAA games much to begin with. But I'll see if I can swap some parts around to soften the jump in price a bit.

I finally figured out how to stop my 4080 Super from crashing randomly all the time. I disabled REBAR in the BIOS and it is running flawlessly again. I even put my overclock back on. Canceled the order for a 5080 to replace it. This has been like one month dealing with this shit I am stoked.

set it to 1.19V - bsod upon starting windows. 1.22V - same thing

Use the "new" product filter, buy the board from a seller with good reputation that posts real product images.

>And if it is used, can I at least squeeze 5 more years out of it?
Check real product images showing the condition of the board, especially the CPU socket.
Don't buy used boards that are missing the socket pin cover.
As long as the board doesn't have missing components or damaged pins, you can usually use it for longer than 5 years.

>>106210665
If you tried booting with a single memory module in A2 (testing both sticks) I think you're fucked.
You are not retarded btw, seems like you've troubleshooted the issue just fine.
Did you update that board BIOS to the latest version? (minimum 3.25).
If you installed that CPU while the board was in an older version, the CPU's most likely cooked.
Hope you didn't buy a tray 7500F.

It's meant for OEMs; AMD won't send you a replacement 7500F if that CPU is cooked.
GL.
If you can enter the BIOS afterwards, set manual TDC & EDC limits.
And track the SOC voltage, degraded ones will need more than 1.25V to run the basic 6000MT/s CL30 EXPO setting.
