Has anyone here been looking for and found a good remote control with built in keyboard? I have pic related, but it's really annoying because I have to hold the buttons down or press them several times for it to register. I also don't like the tactile button feel, seems cheap somehow. The keyboard is ok, don't use the wii style mouse functionality much. Using it with nvidia shield.

I mean it makes sense that if you grew up with it, it'll be more intuitive to you and a lot of american society is built around, because the way we build things depends on the systems we do so - people think it'd be as easy as just teaching metric instead in schools and telling everyone to use it, but the nuts on your car wouldn't work anymore (either they're still imperial, in which case they have weird .2135 metric sizes, or they're in metric, in which case they don't fit the old bolts) and so on and so forth. It'll realistically never happen.
That being said, try to get an intuitive feeling for what something is in the other system. When I'm cooking and come across imperial volumetric measurements for example, I simply use metric cups to convert (1 cup=250 ml) it's not ideal, but close enough that the dish usually comes out fine.
In a similar vein, measure the distance from your thumb to your pinky if you stretch your hand, if I do that in a relaxed manner that's roughly 20cm, which I can use to get a quick feeling for how big something is in front of me to visualize it.
calculating between sizes is very easy in metric, as long as you have a reference point.

nah, you have a good point. all your shit like infrastructure and buildings made centuries ago probably used some sort of measurement standard for lumber/wood/screws so converting to metric now would give a lot of wonky numbers to work with instead of nice clean ones.

It's soft metal, especially the big ones (117 in 1) but perfectly fine for electronics stuff and similar low torque uses.
I also have one of the original wiha xiaomi ones that were higher quality, but those don't know cost these days anymore (all of them now are no longer made with wiha). Frankly, while they are nice to have, the 117 in 1 set I have too is enough most of the times.

you have to buy a few things to get started and after that they'll start throwing offers and games at you to keep you buying, and that's when it gets cheaper than ali. so say that you browse a bunch of stuff and wishlist a few items, temu will help you build a package of 4 items at 20% off the bundle but you have to buy within 24 hours. buying that will then lead to a voucher for your next purchase which is also time limited. then on another section of the site you spin a wheel or play a scratchie game which leads to another offer.
for me i'm not a cons00mer so i don't save any money doing that, but for people who have unending wishlists and constant purchases temu is probably better.

Alright thanks. Sometimes people ask me to try to repair something but i don't have the odd bit. That's why I'm looking for a usable set with a lot of different bit types for those rare occasions. As long as it doesn't melt like butter. I have a bunch of common screwdrivers that are hardened steel or whatever.

When I'm ready to build my next one (more of a do-it-yourself farm than this ready-made one) I'll almost certainly document it and then post it somewhere. Probably not here, because it's semi-offtopic (it'll use some ali items, but not exclusively), not sure yet if I want to post on /diy/ (which I'm more familiar with) or /an/.
Probably similarly to a cook-along on /ck/, so a build-along or something like that. I'll link it here then.

Temu is a bit like shein was (but a little less bad) in that it's very domain specific, some areas they make sense compared to ali (clothes, low cost items like a cheap fake ivy net for your balcony etc.), while others they don't.
To me, ali feels more all-encompassing. Bundles got the cheap shit covered, while there's also a sort of "sweet spot" premium market for people willing to pay a bit more and get genuine quality in return.
I'm familiar with TWS and outdoor equipment and all the good brands are on ali, while at least for the outdoor temu mostly sells trash. Cheap, sure, but also won't last more than a trip or two.
To show my class-ism temu feels like a dollar/euro store, where you see the poor and less educated buy badly made stuff they don't need for cheap, while ali feels more like an asian bazar, they have whatever you want, from premium to cheap, and if you get a great deal or absolutely ripped off depends majorly on your skill in navigating that bazaar.

So would I. My boy started to collect insects in the playground and made me visit his Animal Crossing house: a camping tent absolutely full of captured bugs. In my old city I would have drove to the local Korean store and bought him half a dozen bug watching boxes for a tener and called it a day but there's none of that here.
>>106246462
>people ask me to try to repair something but i don't have the odd bit.
I'm assuming by repair you mean electronics and phones and such, not like a car or something.
In that case the cheapest option that'll do that just fine is those 117 in 1 packs in the bundle section, I think I paid like 7$ for mine at the time, and it's what I carry with me when I want to do field-repairs somewhere. It's got any bit you can want, plus guitar picks, suction cup etc, for phones specifically. The handle is cheap plastic, but for electronics you barely ever need real torque so that's fine.
Picrel are my bitsets, left to right:
>117 in 1 precision screwdriver set
(Handles are on the backside). Gotten from the bundle collection for 8€. This is enough for 95% of tasks and what I take with me if I don't know what to expect for some repair. If you have no bitset at all and want to get by cheap, get this.
>Ratcheting screwdriver with bits in the handle and rotatable by 90 degrees
5,30€ in the bundle section. Pretty heavy, not good for on the move stuff, but I've started using it for repairs in the house that need high torque a lot more, as you can flip it 90 degrees and gain leverage
>Ratcheting screwdriver small
Lighter, but other than that a worse version of the previous one
>Original wiha set
I think it was 15-20€ at the time, all metal construction, this thing was amazing. Isn't being sold for many years though, so now it's all fakes. I abuse the shit out of this (as you can see from the handle) and use for example my pocket knife tweezers to gain leverage etc. If they still sold this I'd say get that, but they don't.
I also got some super cheap green 32 in 1 screwdriver set, it sucked so much ass I gifted it to a relative's kid as a toy. Don't get those.
As the other anon said, ifixit is fine, but functionally no better than the 117 in 1 set; except the sets that have those microwavable heat pads to melt glue, those are pretty neat.

Depending on how old he is, an ant farm might be a nice gift. Teaches about science and has all the upsides of keeping a pet (teaching about responsibility and shit). You can even make one yourself as a weekend project with him so he feels more invested, I'd imagine that would make for a great father-son memory. There's a youtube channel called "D colony" that does tutorials on DIY antfarms (all text to speech) that are easy and cheap. You'll have to help him with cutting stuff and drilling holes, but other than that he can go wild.
There's also those gel antfarms but they are not a good buy, they'll mold eventually and everything will die, and the ants won't be happy until then either.
Kids are interested in all the weird little critters, so anything that's easy to keep can be fun - I'm keeping worms (mostly for compost) and whenever my nieces would come visit and cry I'd give them a rainworm to observe as it moves on their hand. They were super fascinated (depends on the age of course), and keeping a rainworm realistically only needs some old paper and kitchen scraps and a box. They are fine without feeding for months if needed. You can't see it too much though, so kids eventually get bored.
For ants all you need is sugarwater, normal water and later some protein, that can be dead insects but I've also heard cooked egg etc can also work, so it's not like it's a big money sink either.

I'd recommend it, there's some real gems.
In my opinion /g/ is the biggest board worth visiting, anything faster than that is usually a lot more trash, but a lot of the slower boards allow for much more in-depth discussion and more interesting topics, as those threads don't hit bump limit within half a day. There's a reason all the cool tech threads where people actually build shit are on /diy/ and not /g/.
And some boards that seem like they won't interest you end up having interesting topics, for example I found /cgl/ (the cosplay board) to be quite knowledgeable on sewing, so when I had questions on that they helped me out with that.

Bundle arrived.
>8.19€ / 24 notebooks (A6, 30 pages each)
About what I expected, very nice. Edges are rounded off and the binding is done with thread instead of a stapler. Paper quality seems good too. Not quite 90g/m^2, but feels close. Very happy with it, at 0.30€/notebook they're great value.
>USB-C plugs (1.19€/4 pcs)
The plug part is silicone. For some reason the silver corner of the plug makes it draw attention to itself rather than being "mostly invisible".
For some reason when looking at it, I can't help but feel like it looks like a buttplug for electronic devices and that weirds me out. Unfair to blame the product for that, but I don't like it.
>10 pack of notebooks with print in front (2.80€ total)
Edges aren't rounded off, Binding is stapled, only 16 pages per notebook and the paper is much thinner and feels worse. Okay to take with you to give to a kid at a restaurant so they can draw in it, but honestly not worth buying if the other ones exist. Wouldn't recommend.

In my research so far there's two makes of the 115 in 1 kit. One is cheaper metal. Other is supposed to be CRV. At least one seller I found is honest and lists the two types as different models. So probably most if not all of the less expensive listings are softer metal.

I'm a bit sad that mine is so scratched up now that I know they can't be replaced, but then again, what good is a tool if you don't use it to do stuff with it.

>Thanks, I'll check the Youtube channel tonight.
Glad I could be of help. Just remember that while that channel has plenty of easy/realistic projects, they also have the youtube issue of "bigger=better", so skip any video where it's some giant enclosure, it'll be too big for any normal starter colony (which will hurt the ants anyways) and too much effort to build. Best to start small, then you can easily connect containers later to expand with silicone tubing.
>Eventually I'll try a stick insect or two
I took care of some of those that we had in my schools biology department over summer holiday, I have fond memories of them, even though realistically they don't really do much. Issue with stick insects is they need fresh leaves and not all species of plant are okay, easy to get in summer, not so much in winter. Still fairly easy to keep though.
If there's questions that come up feel free to ask. I can't guarantee my advice is optimal, but it should still help somewhat.

So, it'll be good for shaving thin shit from under my nose given I'm using a Wilkinson right now and I sometimes fail to get a close shave, occasionally still nicking myself a tad bit I understand? Not that big into the traditional shaving scene and so far I'm just watching a shirtless bald guy talking about it.

Also, are the coin discounts available on desktop or do I have to use the app? Yaqi Factory store has some ridiculously good discounts on their stuff in the coin venue, so I guess playing Merge Boss and GoGo Match will pay off eventually.

Are you familar with titanium as a material?
It's softer than stainless, so it'll get scratches and develop signs of use. It won't look new for long, the same effect happens to wristwatches.

I think that a lighter like that, after getting a whole bunch of scratches, would look great. Though the bigger issue is that there doesn't seem to be any good sellers on Ali that sell it. Most of them have lower rating and practically all have paid shipping, so I guess getting a Yaqi is a better investment for now. I'm not even a smoker, I just think that it would be cool to have a lighter like that.

I liked Zippo style lighters but they would always quickly evaporate so I got burnt (heh) on them. Seeing that the Zorro has both a gasket seal on the case and on the insert, and apparently that successfully keeps the fuel in, I'd get one for EDC, though I don't think that the cheaper ones are as good as a proper titanium one with a titanium insert with that gasket bottom. Unless there is a cheaper option that will have that seal, I'd like to have something that can reliably start a flame that runs on fluid fuel.

stuff like their official earphones and phones are already so cheap and abundant that it's unprofitable to manufacture knockoffs
the last knockoffs i've heard of from their official earphones line are the redmi dot 3's. fakes sold for $4 and the officials sold for $8.

Been using it for years, it's a great site. Just remember that the upper 80% of cost will maybe give you an improvement in quality of 20%, so don't feel the need to stretch the budget to get a expensive one.
You want to avoid the ultra-cheap area where everything was subject to cost-cutting, but paying top dollar won't get you much after some point.
And feel free to post a review once you got whatever you decide to buy.

Normal light that you can walk and bike with.
Not needed or even detrimental:
Weird ass super complex UI, GNU/light, throw a spot on the moon or flood 360 and above, discolight, LGBT light, dropdamage, waterdamage, gimmick.

Sorry for the late response.
It depends on what you want. I got the QCY Melobuds and they are really great for the money, probably the point of diminishing returns where your dollar won't carry as far after.
If you don't need good ANC, then maybe ~5$ less even.
That being said I'm not an audiophile, I had very expensive TWS before and barely noticed a difference.
>>106264499
>Weird ass super complex UI
Consequence of only having a single button.
More buttons on flashlight = higher price. (I don't have any and I don't know if they are any good.)
>I want a light.
Get wurkkos fc11c.
- uses 18650 batteries
- usb-c charging, and can handle bulkier usb-c connectors
- has moonlight, low, medium, high
After using it for a bit, you can better figure out what you want out of your next flashlight.

It's flexible. I don't even own an anduril light but I know you can turn most of the shit off. Anything with an e-switch is going to have some sort of multi-click interface. Hell, the chinky drivers with physical switches tend to do the high-low-strobe-SOS bullshit. The advantage with something like Convoys is you can make it have only the modes you want.

I do certainly underytand the theoretical advantage. And I also understand the appeal and am generally subscribed to the idea. I mean since 2014 or so my desktop is linux.
But you can not havr GNU/everything.You have so many things. If you spend all your time rewriting fw for all your stuff because somehow you at least believe your initial preference always beats ehat the design team came up with you womt really get to do the things you actually want to do. And flashlights is definately where I draw the line.
I mean yeah if you give me some binary for a lamp that is well engineered (modularity usually leads to compromise) and I just flash the binary and have a minimalistic UI that's cool with me. But anything more than that nah.
Anyways sold on the Wurkkos FC11C.
It's cheap. Small. USB C with a cover. According to a review the UI makes sense. Click to get last setting, but not moonlight or maximum. But you get to hold to get straight to moonlight. Fait enough.
Lets hope it's robust and copes with water.

I enjoy my Sofirn SC31 Pro. I may be the exception to the norm but I like how advanced Anduril is. In the most basic applications it's pretty simple. Click one, light turns on. Hold it down to ramp the brightness up/down. Hold it down to start from moonlight. Double click and hold to enable temporary turbo. Triple click and hold to enable turbo when it's on. Then all the useful extras like the bike light strobo or SOS is still available but lightly hidden away. I prefer it over something like the Convoy where you have to switch the set profiles to get to those different brightness and mode functions, and not every profile has them all.

Otherwise the size is small and way more portable which I prefer compared to bigger tablets which get heavy to use over time. Also I got a gamesir controller attachment which basically turns it into a giant handheld which I used to stream a few games from my PC. Emulation wise I can run everything up to the switch because nobody is working on drivers for the Snapdragon 8 elite yet. I also read how people are running full on PC games on the processor but I havent really tinkered with it that much to do all that work so far. I think once a driver comes out for it in a year or two it'll run even more games so it's perfect for my use. Also it has a microSD card for lots of media storage.

With small clutters I've had luck with a couple things, like weeding. If you have 50 random pens, ditch the shit ones and keep the 8 or so based pens.
A big one is designing organizational space all the time, like making the room tighter and more helpful to how you operate every day. Reduce the storage footprint of shit that gets everywhere like spice jars, meds, small devices etc. Design ways to keep storage and retrieval as easy as possible, plus logical places for like-items. Top tier autism hobby.
Maybe the most important thing is cable management. If you make efforts to hide and reign in cables literally everything in the room becomes less fucked. Clutters end up following the new truth of cabletrack peace. It's like curing cancer

I don't think you'll find those.
Your options are easy to query sites like mouser or digikey (which don't work well for motors, but I mean that type of site, where the UI is basically just a database you can interact with), which are usually not as cheap unless you order really big quantities,
or manually entering known serial numbers for ali. Even then you'll be limited to "standardized" motors.

Xiaomi portable speaker arrived. Took a while, I think because of the battery inside making it essentially powerbank sized.
In terms of build quality it's what you'd expect from xiaomi, meaning it's really good. IP67 rating, 1000 mAh, looks and feels sturdy, relatively light (for a 1Ah battery).
It's a bit thick to just put in your pants pocket (~3 phones thick), but if needed it can fit in there. Perfect for a jacket pocket though.
Connectivity is good, no complaints there.
The biggest importance, and the thing where it really shines is the sound though.
I'm not an audiophile, so I won't know if something is perfect, but I can tell if something is shit, and this is anything but.
Audio is clear, for the size it has a surprising bit of bass, though obviously if that's your main concern you should get something bigger.
The biggest selling point though, is that it gets really loud for the size without starting to sound super bad. It's more than enough for chilling somewhere with friends, even outside, but it's also loud enough that you could reasonably use it as a single audio source for an entire apartment if you have nothing better around. At max volume I can place it in my kitchen (other room, with a hallway inbetween) and through 2 doors it's still loud enough.
In short it's more than loud enough for anything I can reasonably think of ever needing.
The IP67 rating means it's dustproof (highest rating the IP standard supports) and waterproof up to a depth of 1m, meaning you can take it with you to the beach or in the forest and don't have to worry babying it.
Given that I paid 16€ and it's got better audio quality than bluetooth speakers I've seen for 60€, I'm very happy.

The shell looks very similar for sure, they also seem to have the same IP rating further supporting that idea. The JBL has a slightly smaller battery capacity though (~750mAh vs 1000), and Xiaomi aren't known to lie about capacities (the usual suspect).
Whatever the case, it's a nice little speaker. For the things I intend to use it (listen to music and use on the go) it should be great

Bundle arrived. Stuff in there won't be of interest, but it included these lil' guys.
They are Kodama from Princess Mononoke, small resin figurines with glow in the dark dusk mixed into the resin. Eyes are painted on somewhat sloppily if you care about that, but it does the job enough. Cute to put between other stuff, like on a book or something.
For picrel I charged them with a UV-C light, without it the glow is far less intense. I'd say they're on the low to medium glow intensity spectrum overall.
The standing 3 in the front do not stand, they need to either be leaning against something or have a stand/glue attached. Not an issue for what I want to use them for, but worth noting. The others can all sit on a flat surface, except one that's designed to sit on a ledge.

I'm assuming you mean the white things, not the fabric boxes to transport them in.
It seems to be a company making VR accessories called "bobovr" primarily for the quest.
See picrel. My guess is the picture is for either a convention or an owner of those empty indoor VR halls that you can play in with others with a virtual level created inside, with these everyone doesn't need a wire attached to them, so people have more freedom of movement.

The "it'll take a month" stuff was years ago. Since the changes in taxation they don't do that anymore.
If you're euro or US, then you can trust the "within 10 days" claim. You might get unlucky and it'll take 11 or 12, but most likely it'll take less not more. For me it usually takes ~6-7 days for the 10 day shipping items. You get a 1€/1$ coupon if they're too late, so they have incentive not to, even if it's a small one.

I'd say ES or ES Pro if you don't care about back buttons, Cyclone 2 (2 extra buttons, trigger stops, xinput/ds4/switch input, lots of onboard software customization), Vader 4 Pro (6 extra buttons, trigger stops, xinput/dinput/switch, decent software but doesn't save everything onboard so steam input may be preferable if needed), or Aether (2 extra buttons, xinput/switch) if you do

later I was messing with it more and figured that wasn't plastic but a sticker on top, and it does have a functional port there.
not sure why it was covered by this sticker, to fool regulations or have faster shipping? or am I gonna get a hoisefire?
it also advertises fast charge but only does regular slow charge. and the listing is already gone for it. I got it for 8 bucks with coins but it's normally around 20. could it be that the charging circuits are faulty or using the wrong pcb and that's why it was cheap?

While I'm not a fan of mechanical face buttons, my experience with third parties so far has been that they're usually quieter than membranes despite the audible click. Face buttons on my 8Bitdos, IINEs, and Gulikit all have a noticeable pop pushing in and click when releasing that's a lot more distracting to me than the mouse click of mechanical buttons. I'm guessing Sony and Nintendo do something differently with their the rubber or shell that mitigates the sound since first party controllers from both typically sound quieter than all of the above to me.

Get any R4 you like, proceed to go to YouTube and find any video on how to make them work proper -- usually you need to put a couple of files on the SD card inside. Why you need to do a second part is because chinks keep putting "time bombs" in them, meaning they stop working after some time, usually around a year or so.
I got DSTT a couple of years ago, and it's been rock solid since.

I used that same remote for years. If keys are not registering, it is likely because the receiver is obstructed. You can use an USB extender cable to put in a better position. I tried the Rii i25A and it is definitely an upgrade in terms of how it feels to use the remote, but the battery is absolutely dogshit so I don't use it.

Thanks for reminding me, I never remembered to take a look at the rubber while I had a microswitch controller open to see how it differed. Turns out it (Vader 3 Pro, left) uses solid stiff rubber cylinders that press down on the switches with little to no flex involved, compared to a typical membrane rubber (PS4, right) which completely collapses to contact the PCB. I always worried microswitches under rubber was simply adding an extra failure point, but this style seems far less subject to wear.

I have this light mine either has a drain on it or the battery that came with it is broken because when I leave it for a few days it is always dead when I try to use it again
I also have a trustfire L2S-SE that so far is pretty good and you can actually use regular AA batteries in it
I have had a convoy S2+ for a while now its pretty good but the charging situation sucks
Last one I have is the trustfire Mini2 you have to twist it to turn it on and off I don't really like that because I think you could easily turn it on in your pocket but it does take a bit of force to turn it so its probably fine

this thing also heats up INSTANTLY burning my hand if I put it in front of the light. it does thankfully dim down after overheating on boost mode, but I'm still kinda scared of having it knocking around in my backpack.
anyone got any decent ideas on how to make it safer? other than taking out the rubber button insert, and maybe shortening the stem inside making the button harder to press. though it's not like it's easy, but still. I feel like it would burst my backpack on fire.
seems like dangerous amount of photons to throw around.
don't know why it only does 5v 1a charging when there are two batteries, I guess they are in series and not parallel (or was it the other way around). hope they're balanced.

must be something wrong. mine is always pretty full even after leaving it for weeks/months. I like it. especially since it can boost so high to turn into a searchlight. but also a tiny moon mode that doesn't murder your night vision.

Honestly I'd probably prefer Cyclone 2 or Nova 2 Lite personally, but that's mostly motivated by 2.4ghz and other gimmicks you weren't interested in. If leaving back buttons unmapped isn't a deal breaker just go with whatever's cheapest.

Keyboard/mouse binds and xinput gyro don't work unless Flydigi Space Station is also running. Technically it does save onboard, but it isn't usable without opening their software. It just works with the higher end Gamesir, BigBig Won, and I think recently Mobapad controllers.

I suspect the tactile buttons are wearing out, especially for the OK button. I don't even have the receiver plugged in, its working over Bluetooth.
The other requirement for getting this remote was replaceable batteries. Looks like all the other Rii ones have glued in lithium ones, that would need to be replaced over time.

Don't get a "normal" light for biking to not blind other people in front of you. I highly recommend
https://www.sofirnlight.com/collections/sofirn-flashlights/products/sofirn-bs01-led-bike-light-teck but there's also
https://lumintop.com/product/b01. Both have a cut beam to not blind people. Lumintop's is in a more "flashlight" form factor and its battery is more easily replaced.
Sofirn's UI couldn't be simpler but brief/long clicks are inverted compared to the normal lamps UIs, but it's a sensible choice when you are driving that a brief click doesn't shut off the light but cycles the intensity.

I've purchased a few kingseven sunnies, ive had picrel for just over a year.
for their price and quality I think they're pretty good but i've never owned locally purchased expensive ones. I usually leave them on a worksite or they end up covered in crud anyway. The all plastic frame ones definitely feel cheaper than their metal framed ones.
My exgf had some pricey ones(12x+ more expensive) that felt cheaper and she lost within 2 weeks anyway.

Mine came in a cardboard box, with some white plastic around one arm and the glasses and a separate piece for the second arm, there's also a small cleaning cloth
no bag, case or tester
to be fair that is what they claim
>The all plastic frame ones definitely feel cheaper than their metal framed ones.
They do feel nice, but I've never had good ones either. My previous pair was some absolute DOGSHIT ones that were mass produced to advertise Lipton, arm broke off recently when I jumped on them as they were in bed so needed a replacement
I drop these things pretty frequently so I didn't want anything expensive
I'm not sure how I'd feel about the little nose bridge "feet" compared to just a full piece of plastic so I opted for the plastic over metal. I'm worried they'd have the issue of putting too much pressure in small spots

why isnt the surfer wearing sunnies?
The all plastic are lighter, but the standoff plastic feet ones also let your eye area breathe which is good if it gets hot where you are. The metal ones arent THAT heavy, but i mainly use them for driving so not for longer than a couple hours.

Electronics like laptop or phone are the usual suspects, but also larger orders of multiple things;
A few years back I ordered my entire outdoor equipment pretty much; tent, sleeping bag, backpack, hiking poles, tarp, cookware and utensils, sleeping pad, plus some stuff for my father who sometimes goes hiking with me but has shit gear (sleeping bag and pad), all together that should have reached the 470$.

>how can you tell sunglasses are polarized wrong?
NTA, but polarization is essentially a way to only let through light that comes from a very specific angle.
That's why if you wear them, you can for example see deeper into water, as all the light that reflects on it is scattered from various angles, so the reflected light gets (partially) filtered out, while the light that comes from the bottom of the water is less so.
Most digital devices (phones, screens) have a polarization filter that also directs the light.
My guess is that what that anon means by "polarized wrong" is that the angle that the polarization is isn't his horizon (so perfectly horizontal) but rather at an angle, which for some reason that escapes me is common on cheaper polarized sunglasses. The result is that you have two grid that filter light at different angles overlaid, so barely any polarized light comes through. As such if you're for example looking at a screen that is polarized, you can barely or not at all see what it displays, until you tilt your head such that the polarization grids line up.
It's rather annoying.
