Windows 12
I think at this point we all know Windows 12 is going to be complete spyware garbage, even worse than Windows 11, and those that believe "the Windows cycle" exists are complete dumbasses.
Anonymous No.106245212 >>106245872 >>106247633
Windows 11's problem isn't even the spyware, it's the fact that the poos in charge of redesigning it wrote everything as a web app and it lags even on powerful hardware. The telemetry is the same as in Windows 10.
Anonymous No.106245213
And it will still be better than Linux and Mac. Your inability to administrate a network or your computer isn't my problem.

no they always alternate between good and bad. Next one will be good again and they will recapture all the marketshare
Anonymous No.106245384
>>106245340
it's not that they alternate really, it's just that the business market can't afford switching OS every five years, so the actual life of an OS is around ten years. So the one in between is less aimed at business, and more aimed at home users and they can be a bit more creative and try out new things
which is why 12 is most likely more going to be following in the more traditional sense, and hopefully remove some of the stuff people don't want like the silly right click menus and the ai
it's been like this for like 30 years now

Windows has changed and it's not going to get better. They're just riding on the name and market inertia right now, because the product itself just keeps getting worse. But people stick with it anyway because that's easier than going through the time and headache of changing, especially on a large corporate or educational level.

Same goes for those who try to imply we'll just get used to it and it's all relative.
Windows 10 was also shit, it was just bearable compared to the clusterfuck of 8. And on release 10 was a clusterfuck too.
Microsoft only knows how to double down. They know exactly what we want but can't go back.

Honestly given how easy it is to pirate I feel like this could be the future.

There will be LTSC versions that are offline, though. We run offline systems where I work and those will always exist. Microsoft wouldn't cut off that market segment but certainly for conventional OS use it would finally end their battle with piracy.

I hate that notion because I've gotten very adept at the Windows paradigm as a platform but the expectations the company has for me as a user of their ecosystem.

No one's even sugarcoating it for me. Just "this is how Windows will be in the future, if you still like it then accept it."

I've installed windows 11 on a lot of computers. One of them is a laptop with an i5-6200U. It boots fast enough but logging in and starting to do anything takes between 1.25 and 1.75 times as long as when it had windows 10. And it now pegs the CPU usage to the point that I have to limit it to 85β„… so it doesn't overheat.
Other computers, not so noticeable. This is also the weakest machine I've tried this on, so its something that was close to the limit on 10 pushed over it on 11. Yeah its unsupported hardware, if it wasn't I might not have noticed the performance deficit.

I should add, switching to another OS is a poor move for school districts because most company computers are overwhelming Dell, HP, or Lenovo machines running Windows. The district I work for provides Chromebooks to students. Android is not a good option, either, because again, companies use Windows. May as well raise the kids on Windows as that is what they will be working with if they do.

It isn't even going to be Windows 12. It's going to be Windows Copilot or Windows AI. The whole thing is going to be 100% AI integrated everywhere, no escape. With a strong possibility of it being cloud only, or at least very heavily pushing people that way.

It's going to be be a surveillance nightmare that'll make Windows 11 look like DOS. Boomers will bitch up a storm and then just accept it as usual. Not long afterwards, they'll stop offering non-cloud versions.

Yes, that's my point. They're going to rebrand it because they're going so hard with AI. They've invested hundreds of billions at this point - it's their biggest strategic bet yet. They have to make the OS 100% about AI to justify the cost. You will not be able to turn off any of the AI stuff and it will be watching you 24/7.

No, what they will do is let business customers set up private/sovereign data enclaves using Microsoft business services. But the AI will remain on. YOU will not get to set up private data enclaves. All you will get is the usual "we respect your privacy and use the following measures to keep your data safe" song and dance.
