Trackpoints are ultimately joysticks. They control the velocity of the pointer, not the position. That's why pc gamers absolutely mog console fps players. You want to click on the guy's head? That translates directly to a point in your table that you move your mouse to. Want to use a track pad, that involves controlling hte speed, dunno how analogic it is, how fast it is, all of which could affect how long I need to hold it on that direction etc.

I went apeshit and spent $500 on this a few months ago and it has been like relearning to walk. I got it because my shoulders are so wide I feel like a t-rex holding a thimble with both hands when I use regular keyboards and this has totally reversed a lot of stupid pain so bonus for that. If you can stick with it it's really worth it.
But holy shit without flashing very custom setups early this fucker will try to kill you. Do not use their recommended default. You'll activate 15 ridiculous functions and layers just trying to type op is a fag and it'll never stop raping your productivity unless you remap 90% of it.

I was thinking of Gateron whites because of their ultra low actuation force. If I don't get this right, the only option left is amputation and disability claims

If you want to reduce RSI switches are not going to do much, but there is a few things you can consider that might helpm just keep in mind however budget will be the be all end all. Cheapest solution is to get an Alice layout clone from Keychron or Aliexpress with Alie being the cheapest of the two and put in some speed linears of your choice. I have heard good things about raptors and the raptors extreme speed linears but no hands on experience so you will need to do your research. Also consider Cherry speed silver clones as they are not too expensive. As for keycaps you can either get low profiles to reduce the height of your wrist placement or get high profiles like SA to reduce the actuation time on the switches further with the increased leverage.
If that's not enough for you there is Maltron who do speciality RSI and disability keyboards with Cherry black linears. They come in single left hand / right hand configurations so you can type with just one hand or you can get their dual hand keyboards which is more conventional. You can get them second hand below 200 or 100 easy on sites like Ebay here and there (I bought all three of the variants over the years using Ebay).
If you want more custom there are Dactyls which are 3D printed ergonomic keyboards inspired by brands like Maltron. They are as good as you can get for ergonomics without getting into luxury keyboards and you will be easily looking at 200+ depending on the seller making them.
Then there is the Svalboard which is peak ergonomics at the cost of around 1000 dollars. It is literally a hand keyboard and out of Sci-Fi and is based on the Datahand in pic rel. The latter will cost you 2500 dollars and is possibly the most expensive keyboard you will find on the second hand market, beating IBM Beamsprings and F107s.

If you want to get your hands dirty you can also 3D print your own Datahand clones with this repository:

I don't know of any sellers for them sadly unlike the Dactyl so you will have to make this one from scratch.

The only good mice Logitech still makes are their cheap office mice they've been making for 15 years. The B100, M90, M100, etc. They don't double click, the scroll wheel never breaks, and you can easily overclock them to 500hz. I'd say buy a Zowie, but they don't make them wired anymore, probably to force you to use their software.

Yea but you specified Topre instead of EC rubber domes which indicates japan-thing-good mentality. The truth is that if it wasn't initially marketed as le authentic Japanese product it wouldn't even be in your radar, its like auto autists looking for 'german engineered' tags with their car parts because of a perceived quality differential. EC rubber domes just feel like a slightly more tactile membrane, something you could get from mechanical silent tactiles or better.
Plus the quality from Topre themselves are worse than cheap chinkshit keyboards from aliexpress because the Japanese are stuck in some time capsule (HHKB hybrid from 2019 still had BT 4.0 and R2 still had a soldered cable in 2018 instead of detachable usb c). I guess you could get the aftermarket options which are cheaper and better, but if you're buying stock Topre you are just wasting your money.

>how stupid is a chair mounted split keyboard?
If you are mouseless it's doable, but if you require a mouse you are better off having the split on a desk with a mouse or trackball at the center. There are some side trackball configurations out there which provides mouse support while being chair mounted, but I am going to level you with and be brutally honest with and say it would like kinda gay in my opinion. With some of the modern non-office setups I have seen it often screams RGB gaymer or programmer sock syndrome and it seldom meshes well with aesthetically with the chair istelf. You kind of have to go full office drone mode and have an office chair with a black split to not look like an eyesore but it would be very boring. I would say unless you go full supervillain and have an H.R. Giger style throne like the Harkonen chair or something like pic rel with a split chair mount keyboard it is just going to get you side eyes in the gaymer route or make people think you are a geriatric with the office drone theme, all the while with minimum trade off. That's the key thing there as there is no real benefit to having the split on your chair compared to a desk. It's needlessly expensive.

I also really a want a keyboard that has a right side similar to the bottom keyboard as I sometimes program and really want proper home and end keys. Are there any with unlocking scroll wheels that don't shit the bed in <6 months? For Gayzer it happens because the rubber band on the wheels loosen and scrapes other parts of the housing, causing it to not work. For Fagitech it's because the axle of the wheel/whatever holds it gets loose and it wobbles, so it doesn't spin freely properly.
And no, middle clicking + dragging is not the same. It's not just for scrolling on long pages, which is also superior on a free/unlocked mouse wheel than middle click + dragging, but that's besides the point.

I don't have a strong opinion about the Monsgeek (I assume you mean the new M1 V5 VIA, not the out of stock one you linked), but it does seem to have somewhat sensible gasket placement. Don't like plate mounted stabilizers, but at this price of course there will be compromises.
It's a good thing they got rid of those mid pieces when they switched to this new Neo-ripoff ball-catch design. Not a big fan of the ball-catch meme, although it does make cleaning easier. It feels wrong for a keyboard to come apart so easily. Ball catch with a lock of some kind should be new meta...
The exploded 75% + knob design is ugly, but at least with f13 and four nav keys you get as many keys as a 75% ought to have. And I guess some people like knobs.
Cheap hotswap Akko wireless board does set off some alarm bells in my mind. I don't know if I'd trust it to work 100% correctly and last as long as a keyboard should.

Just order a cheap QMK/VIA keyboard and program it to have a function layer where every key does nothing, except for one which takes you another function layer where every key takes you back to the first layer except one which takes you to the next, etc, through five or so layers until you get to the real one. So you can effectively lock your keyboard with a password

You could get a used das, I've seen decent condition ones go for <50β¬. Having used one for some 8 years, I'd say that surpassing DK4 quality isn't a high achievement these days though. At least from a build quality standpoint, I don't know how the electronics hold up on ~100β¬ boards these days.
Not that there's anything wrong with the DK4, things have just changed a lot in the last 10 years. I think I payed something like 180β¬ before taxes for my DK4 in 2014. Today boards like keychron V6 offer similar build quality and more configurability for way cheaper

I've also had the DK4 almost since the release. I got it after reading this review:
https://muropaketti.com/tietotekniikka/mekaaniset-nappaimistot-katsauksessa-kesa-2014/4/ Kinda funny to read that now. I remembered the price wrong; it was ~180 after taxes and delivery. I've been mostly happy with it. There are some annoyances though, working on the soldered switches is a bitch due to the plate. The cherry switches can be pingy, and you have to desolder them to fix the issue. Still, I only got a new board because my secondary board died, and I need two. ( RIP Microsoft comfort curve 2000, lasted some 20 years )
You can get customizable board quite cheap now, at least when compared to things like DK4 ten years ago. I've seen the Keychron V6 go for less than 100β¬ at times. And I bet there are decent boards that are cheaper than that. I just brought the V6 up because I considered it myself, as I wanted an ISO board, and Keychron has good ISO selection. I ended up getting a Q-series though. I like it, but affordability kinda flew off the window

That's some shit luck, anon. When you say you got it for cheap, do you mean used, or from a store and still covered by warranty? Somewhat related, my friend got himself this absolute piece of chinkium a couple years ago and I'm surprised all four knobs still function perfectly (granted, the lighting control ones are rarely used). Honestly, I'd like to see this kind of multi-knob setup become common.

What's the good cheap shit? I need the F-row and I'd prefer the keyboard be as quiet as possible. I like linear switches better, the rest I'm not picky about.

Get some PBT keycaps if you go with the Filco cause their keycaps kind of feel like shit, not enough friction or something

Physical volume knob of some kind is a requirement. Media controls are a near requirement, but highly prefer to not go without. A design that prevents physical ingress of debris into the keyboard is also good.
I've been typing this entire post out on my K100 whose 3, e, d, and x keys are currently nonfunctional (literally been copying/pasting those letters manually so my post is legible). It happens intermittently, and I suspect it's due to humidity since I've never spilled anything onto my keyboard. So humidity is my best guess, which isn't a solvable problem, unfortunately.

The reduced height is very comfy. I need to use wrist rests with ordinary height boards but that's not the case with low profile. Laptop/Apple chiclet feels like ass because there is barely any travel and has no tactility compared to membrane. I haven't tried mechanical low profile but they sound nice

Just 'high profile spherical' is what you're looking for. Nowadays there are a bunch of different profiles that do it (MT3, SA, and the 300 other chinese profiles inspired by those two).
