Ive been using AI to help write code for the past few months and I never end up using anything it puts out, and more than have the time it's wrong.
I've noticed that it ALWAYS generates much more code than is needed and does things in the most verbose ways.
I completely understand how vibe coders end up with 10s of thousands of lines within a week.

I'm in security and use AI to write quick and dirty 200-line powershell scripts for various security type needs. It's been a tremendous help and everything it pumps out runs withing 2 or 3 iterations. It's great for my role but probably not for full-time coders.

The proper term is iterative development. You start with a basic working foundation which you then add features to, testing like hell every step of the way, until you have a finished program. This works no matter who, or what, is writing the code.
