Yeah, but the NSA is so good because they secretly install surveillance apps. What the NSA does is send out a maintinence guy to install an encryptor in your closest customer edge, state of the art decryptors then glean your password from your packets and then they fuck your IoT.

That I believe, but this tzeenchian "backdoor" is fantasy - and posited by people who have no background in tech. If there is no code for it, it doesn't exist.

Okay let's entertain this idea.
So the claim is that any PC network connected since 2007 feds just have their OpenManage clone and can remote it and do anything to the host while what we access OS/BIOS is just like inside of a VM.
So if I take a brand new in box Dell from 2007 and plug it online they can view the remote desktop of tails, rsync the hard drive, execute arbitrary code, directly manipulate memory, anything.

So if this was the case why the fuck do they need to add spyware in Windows 10? Why add always on AI screenrecording in 11? Why do they hate full disk encryption? Why push everything server side if they can remote PCs? Why push all the phone shit? AND you're telling me this is the single system on earth that they're so careful with its existence still can't be proved 20 years later but it's totally there despite 0 proof it was ever used? It just doesn't add up.
Listen if you wanna be a schizo and you're fine using a 25yo thinkpad with FOSS BIOS that's cool (tho hypocritical to still go online if you genuinely believe this but anyway) but don't fucking tell Twitter normies that they shouldn't use Linux or not submit ID online because it's all hopeless, even if the Intel ME conspiracy was to be true (which is nearly impossible) doing everything else to increase your privacy is still beneficial and a must. Stop misleading people.
Anonymous No.106342843
You can fix this with a chink router with openWRT, they won't be able to remote into it. I doubt they would be able to anyway considering how the network is isolated. They can't exactly ping your intel ME through a NAT.

define backdoor

if you're talking about the nsa having 0 days in a cpu, then probably. Does it really matter? not at all.

I'm not supposed to talk about this too much, but the 0 days aren't meant for individuals who sell drugs, trade cp, or even do whistleblower shit. this is meant for nation states or large organizations that use market grade cpus and gpus for shit like petrol plants, manufacturing facilities, research labs, etc.

We send out some guys, find out what chip they're using, and then we make some shit using the CPU backdoors to fuck up some shit. then we send out the guys and make then install it using an USB, CD, Floppy disk, whatever they can to put it on the target device. We even used radio waves before transmit data through the sata cables.

tl:dr yes, but it's way to just arrest you at a traffic stop.

ME is a boogeyman for /pol/ schizoids. There wasnt a single case in history when someone would get busted by something like this. The only case in which someone actually tried doing something like this was when Conti tried fuzzing it, according to their internal chat logs. The truth is that law enforcement guys avoid burning any advanced hacking tools or 0days unless its absolute necessity, thats why people like buster hernandez got away with their wrongdoing for so long just by using tails. Already contradicting yourself. You don't have to be a snowden to be hit by something like this and in fact you probably have more chance of being hit by it if they know you wont figure it out. Why would a nobody like me or you get targeted? All you need is 1 degree of separation from their target.

Anyone remember the scandal that happened when Intel introduced serial numbers on the Pentium 3?
They got rid of it very fast after a lot of complaints, but eventually re-introduced it and nobody gave a shit anymore.

the backdoors are super risky for 3-letters to use for reasons like what if people have offline network wire monitoring equipment.

https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/makszo/two_undocumented_intel_x86_instructions/

But of course there are backdoors people have been finding "oddities" for a while now like the always online intel management engine, which is an embedded cpu that not even your cpu can see that had vulnerabilities in it.

Software can ask the CPU for a truly unique identifier that can then be used to identify your computer with 100% accuracy.
Imagine for example if websites wouldn't need to do any sort of browser-based tracking, instead they could just query your CPU for a completely accurate ID that tells them exactly what computer is being used to view this content. No amount of changing IPs, or sandboxing, or hiding behind seven proxies would help prevent your computer from being identified.
And it's not just web browsers, this same serial number can also be embedded into files for much of the same purposes as the hidden dots your printer does.

Snowden leaked NSA capabilities in his leak, and the shadowbrokers leaked the NSA backdoor crown jewels back in 2016. Anything between 2016 and now is unknown of course but the NSA did not have any CPU backdoors between 2007 and 2016 which leads me to believe they do not have any now.
They likely have more windows zerodays now but heyho that's life.

I imagine it's the difference between a simple search through Microsoft's telemetry and having to establish access on a U.S. citizen's PC. And btw, they don't have the authority to do the latter unless you're a foreign national. The controversy behind the Snowden thing was that they were authorized to collect and sift through American's data with the goal of collecting intelligence on foreign entities. But they weren't allowed to exploit private citizens' information in any way. But let's entertain the paranoid say they're secretly performing operations on Americans. Ok you use Windows because it's all pointless right? The NSA does not give one single fuck if you smoke crack and dildo your asshole to loli porn. They don't even care if you say nigger and worship Hitler. They're looking for people that are an actual national security threat. Foreign spies, terrorists, etc. The lame ass shit you do is probably only interesting to the local cops and the NSA plays in a bigger game. But here's the deal, Microjeet has that information. Would they give it to the local police? The FBI? maybe. They have no problem training their AI on your data or selling it to ad companies. That might not be a big deal to you so whatever.

What makes you so sure he knew everything? You've heard of information compartmentalization right? Having CPU/encryption backdoors is on a different level than the shit he leaked imo. If they do, it might even be a reserved capability. Something they only use in a break glass kind of situation like leading up to an open conflict against Russia/China.

In order to use the CPU backdoor they need physical access to your CPU, while in Windows they can basically use IME in order to fuck you in the ass. So using Linux is only pointless if they get their filthy hands in your computer, otherwise you will be safer than using Windows and other proprietary crap like Ubuntu.

Because that was not the goal, that was the excuse for hijacking the tech, much like WMD's were to the war business (not saying that piece of shit socialist murderer Saddam didn't deserve the rope though).

In the world we live in, being normal is considered a crime, and massification of surveillance and espionage helps with the goal of quenching resistance.

Also when they target somebody, they will never tell you exactly how they did it if they ever confess to doing it at all, so much of what goes on remains a mystery.

No excuse for backdooring anything, and no legitinate reason for anybody to take that when older computers still do the job, unless you're some retarded, infantilized loser obssessed with slop video games or fell for the ai meme.

I don't believe in OPs claim at all.
But it being true would not prevent Microsoft from shoveling all the shit they do into Windows.
They may be closely intertwined, but MS the company has it's own separate goals related to monetization.
The government generally doesn't monetize clandestine shit, outside of rare cases like the CIA and cocaine or whatever the fuck that was.
