When you're the weak link in the match you need to be able to identify it and plan around it. If you're the only diamond in a game of Crystals, act like it. Play back, don't overstep. People will overcommit to kill you and dive into your unsafe backline which is putting them at a huge disadvantage. Play defensively. Play front to back (everyone should do this especially since purify changes).
Be objective with your own performance after a match. When you lose, ask yourself what you did wrong that contributed to the loss. Don't blame your teammate for stepping off the crystal, ask yourself why you weren't able to step on the crystal.

I don't know about broken quests in Skyrim, didn't encounter any in my playthroughs. Oblivion had some weird bug where I sequence-broke the Hackdirt quest accidentally though.
