Shadows do do that sometimes depending on the light source. I noticed her foot is weirdly placed, screen fucked up, and the curvature of the room is not true to a curve caused by a lens, and is not consistent. Additionally, she looks like a girl from 2018 not 1998.

I'd say this is due to the warping (likely intentional) affecting the whole of the picture. If you look closely at the bottom of the monitor where controls are, it doesn't look like a straight line, and the light shinning on the wall + the posters alligned in a curvature give it away.

I check for regular orderly things to see if they're misaligned or have the wrong pattern. I check shadows to see if they make sense. The edges of objects. Patterns in materials. Lack of symmetry. Anachronisms. Lack of detail. Illogical structures. Fake camera artifacts that don't make sense. And in a pinch I'll still count fingers and toes.

The answer is the hidden vectors that are in the converted latent, to some degree.

Its ability to "regrow" itself to some extent, idk how much, is a giveaway. But exactly to what extent, I haven't figured out.

Like as an example, ai skin can probably propagate, but real photo skin shouldn't, if we put it in an image like a petri dish, to i2i.

The "chromatic aberration" effect is wrong in this pic. They used the same effect on the left and right side of the pic, which doesn't happen with real lenses. The effect should be (from left to right): blue - red , red - blue but it's blue-red, blue-red on both sides lol.

Most of the time AI is obvious because it uses the same techniques that people use for shoops and so they have the same look.

But this is for 3DPD shit, not 2D. It's much harder to tell with 2D, but normally there's some artifacts even then and a certain generic post-production/rendering done to it that is common with AI.

Btw, I used the "Interpolation" detection method with 4chan bot posts just by eye. You can tell with general ease with this method and that's why they've gotten creative and are now training their bots to discourage the use of long text posts on the chan for this - the longer the post, the more easily detected it is by algorithms or by the eye. Some anons consider this legit posts by humans, but I don't.

No I noticed that too, because I tried looking for the interpolation and had to mentally take that into account... which is kinda hard because it's sorta vague to me to begin with still but I can kinda tell till.
Think like sound distortion. You can hear sounds in the background if distortion effects are overlaid. An analogy here would be like chorus guitar then put through a big muff. You can kinda tell if you've been dealing with both for a while and make things with both.

In fact, the distortion can sometimes make it clearer to a person, similar to dithering. Both with visuals and with audio. It's very strange but it just werks, having utilised distortion to clarify things in music and visual art. It's not just mere objects it can clarify, it can make the noise/modulation effects stand out more too.
