hey /g/ents, I have a QA job for a big US company, I work remotely and even though they pay us less than employees in other countries I am earning a lot for my country standards (easily 2x standard it/swe jobs here).
I can literally spend most of my time fucking around on my own pc playing vidya and watching youtube and still consistently get fat bonuses for great performance because the job is that easy.
You might be thinking I am in a great spot, but the reality is that this shit is super boring. I've been trying to convince my manager to shift me into a dev role for the past 1.5 years, hoping it would be slightly more interesting. They keep saying that we can try, maybe, dunno, gotta ask my manager, etc. etc. and pushing it down the road. Should I just buy some courses with company credit and start applying to other jobs?
This is really comfy as in I get a lot of money for almost 0 effort so I don't wanna fuck it up, but I also don't want to spend my life hating my job and/or risk losing any relevant skills in the market and getting fucked over when/if I get fired for whatever reason

Yeah but one builds upon the other. You make it sound like you only memorized during your entire educational experience. How many projects on your own time did you do? How many random unknown bullshit did you handle at the work space required you to both have the knowledge of to solve and require you to research a solution too? At the very least memorization is the basics to learning, knowledge of how things connect is the basics of troubleshooting. Troubleshooting is the act of problem solving an issue even with limited experience on the matter.
When you handle a shitload of applications you need to filter for each layer of understanding.

Waste of time to have apprenticeships for Tech/IT when you can pickup a book learn the concepts either get the certs or put on your resume that you did X self education on the topic then get the job. Also way to many sub categories within IT alone to make this a pain in the ass. Its much easier to get someone that is specialized in a subject experience wise then move them into another subject with a different cert. You then filter through interview if they know that topic from X cert to get them the job. Programming has a project they take home with them for that filtering process but at the end of the day it allows people to swap between specialiaties alot easier. Doing a trades program for Tech/IT would waste everyones time including the one getting trained since you have to teach a drooling teenage alot of shit that would require either a degree or them to sit down on a few books for a couple months straight before being allowed to touch the 20k$ fiber optic switch.

That WAS the medieval guild system. If you had talent or learned quickly, then you were still stuck slaving away as an apprentice until you got seniority and then were saddled with an apprentice of your own. We ditched that system for a reason.

now, you get out of college, get told that you got pwnt for falling for it, and that you are blasklisted because at 22 you don't have 21 years of "AS400 Experience"

Guilds were indeed a way to gain experience, but they were the only way and did massive amounts of gatekeeping. If you rubbed someone the wrong way during your apprenticeship, instant blacklist. No refunds. It was a terrible system.
The problem now is companies don't want to train workers for various non-university skillsets, both out of greed and a fear that the person they just trained will walk away to a better job. You can't get out of that by forcing an experienced worker to waste his time training a novice "just cause". We can easily have more organized programs than that, within and outside of companies.

No one gets blacklisted you can re-apply for the job later. Just put on the resume that you learned X and did X with it. That alone can cover for lack of degree or cert most of the time.
More importantly the fitler is the fact that you have to know alot more of the basics before you can do more of the focused worked within Tech/IT. You barely have to know shit to be a blacksmith so that apprenticship program is likely alot shorter than what we have to deal with college/cert wise.

I always had an idea in the back of my mind to transmit data through audio cables. Like get two m/m audio extension cables, plug one end of one cable into the speaker port for one PC and the mic port for the other, then do the opposite with the other cable, then you can output sound directly from one PC to into another, and with some modulation you can send data.
I wonder if there's a potential $1b business in this.

Reinventing the wheel of tech by bringing back mainframe computers. Atleast in spirit it is. A complete and total step backwards from what made thick clients prevalent in the workplace to begin with. Complete gimped support for the customer making it even harder to justify using when companies are just going to cheap out on it anyways.
Same goes with running multiple applications on a server without a seperate hardware backup server. It negates the purpose of individual servers per application to begin with which is reducing downtime.

Other femboys only want love so they will have a low body count and be incredibly picky but not about looks, just how you present. If you come across as wanting to fuck them they'll be icked out. So just be friendly and dont come onto them for sex and they will like you for respecting their sexual boundary.
If you want to BE a femboy i've seen tubby femboys get love but losing weight isnt too hard, it just requires persistance. Count calories, walk a mile or two in the local park or trail every workday for lunch and you'll be down 10 lbs a month or at least thats how it worked for me

AFAIK it's an extremely niche field but it is absolutely starved for new blood because no young people are able to do it and most of the wizards are close to retirement. It could be an interesting move, akin to maybe COBOL and its consultants commanding a serious premium because no one knows it.
Keep in mind though that you would have maybe 3/4 companies you could apply to (speaking of kernels, microshit, apple and ibm/red hat basically) where you know for sure that you could work on it, or you could roll the dice on companies that contribute to the unix kernel and hope that they let you do only that.
If you're speaking of embedded more generally, there's definitely more options out there but it will mainly be companies that are not widely known (if you care about employer status). also AFAIK it's hyper competitive because most companies want people that are already experienced and those who are experienced really do know their shit.
On the flip side, the few people I know doing embedded do earn quite a lot of money and have a ton of bargaining power because finding a replacement isn't easy.

Depending on what exactly it'll be kind of niche and you'll have to stick to few big companies.
If it's just embedded android dev then it's kind of okay.

Nah, I don't think so. The people I know who are in the embedded field only work on the software stack and the HW is handled by other companies that then contract the SW people to write code.
Knowing EE is definitely a plus though, if you are able to probe the board and do shit on top of just writing the software it's better than nothing, but I highly doubt you'd need to be a PCB engineer to get a job in the field

I don't feel like my sql and database experience would help at all getting a regular fullstack web dev or whatever role, so I've been looking into "data engineering"
