The problem with lynx is that everything uses cloudflare now and that every site is full of small text clutter so the only way to find relevant content is to search for larger text and for graphical boxes. Things that lynx cannot render and as such it always spits out wall of text with only 1% of relevant information which is very hard to find since the unimportant text is styled equally as important text.

I like lynx but I'm not gonna pretend like I use it as anything other than a novelty and maybe a dream about making text only websites with ascii graphics and no js

Lynx would make sense for something like gopher or gemini. Not because of a technical reason but because the early internet culture is still mostly intact

Lynx can track you. It can use cookies.

Just using Lynx probably gives you a unique fingerprint anyway.

Links rather than lynx is far better. Firstly you can run it in 2 modes, graphical and text based depending on what you need. JS is completely disabled, has a plethora of settings right down to user agent and cookie policy to color schemes and way way more. Faster than lynx in my opinion too. I use lynx 90% of online stuff, with the exception of if I need to do online shopping or banking and make the occasional post here. Thats just my usecase of course.

Just use Chrome. The internet is built around Google.

>I use lynx 90% of online stuff
I try to do this around once each year to have less distractions and be forced to be more mindful about internet use but I always get sucked back eventually. Longest I did was one month I think

That's sounds like an absurdly retarded and un-user-friendly browser.

I use elinks sometimes. Much better than lynx. works well with 4chan, but posting is not possible coz of the captcha wank.
Anonymous No.106376627
>>106372978
you can easily use text browsers for 1.0 websites like Wikipedia, but elinks with a small subset of JS and CSS can work sometimes, but ultimately, scraping and regexing like a surfraw script is the only realistic way you can use the internet from a console nowadays

what can you even do with JS disabled? You can't even use this website, so how do you post here with no JS?
Anonymous No.106381547
I unironically used Elinks, had it configured to open images on fbida, had shortcuts to play youtube links I got from invidious on mpv but honestly NetSurf is so much less of a hassle if you want to go the JS-free route
