/v/ here, there was a lawsuit that determined that third parties can publish software for any computer (Atari vs Activision, i think) but the likes of Nintendo, Sega, Sony, etc. have gotten away with requiring a license to publish for their computer systems for decades. Has this ever actually happened? The whole idea of people being tricked into installing malicious side loaded apps seems ridiculous to me. There are so many steps to turn it on and so many warnings along the way that scammers would lose a lot of people compared to their normal methods like teamviewer. And it would take a lot of work to develop the app too (compared to "traditional" scams) and scammers are lazy.

Doesn't this just need the dev to verify themselves? Not my problem. Sideloading from 3rd party stores should be fine as long as they don't tamper the apk (if it's sourced from play store) and the dev is verified. This will kill apk cloner faggot though which is good riddance.

That's actually not my issue funnily enough, imo the reason it's dumb is the multiple numbers in a row, it makes it annoying to describe. If it was something like A III, B f, or even 1 z it would be fine. Still better than most other Sony products though; WH1000XM3 is an absurd name for headphones, it looks like a screw designation.

This is the right move to make. Android is a shithole full of malware. Give your kid your phone for a bit and theyll have downloaded some Zombie Pixel Run 3D game that steals all of your bank info.
Nobody cares about deeply customizing their smartphone or putting advanced software on there, going into developer mode and reconfiguring things, writing custom scripts and automations, etc.
People just want a phone to use. Hence why iPhone dominates in first world countries. They got that part down. Android's PRIMARY appeal has always been that it's cheaper. The people that care about the openness of it are the minority. Even technormies who watch MKBHD or linustectips or something are a minority
