You can run tailscale or wireguard directly on most decent routers. You'd only need to open a single port for wireguard, both of which cannot be compromised. Tailscale I believe doesn't require any open ports to function.

I tend to shoot for the following:
set up an image resize node, set both width/height to one value, set resize mode to keep proportion.
swap value to 768/1024/1280 as you like.
this will work pretty much always.

wan2gp is mainly for video generation but has image generation support via flux, qwen and wan2.1/2.2. if your priority is to generate images and you want quality then go for forge/reforge. You could run it but may run into out of memory issues. make sure your install any ui and the models on a m.2 nvme ssd.
