Why is AI only fucking over young people? Shouldn't zoomers, with the mental plasticity of youth, be in the best position to take advantage of this tech?

everything is so automated for zoomers now that they dont learn anything. they dont need to

That's hard when tech is controlled by old people and the guverments are controlled by old people, who keep voting in protection laws for other established old people. (i.e copyright law) it used to be that young people would take over but that was with the internet and then that got regulated.

>Why is AI only fucking over young people?
This is how efficiency works anon. When the printing press came out, it didn't displace all the old timers who still made books and were in demand. It took over new projects, replacing what would have been more old timers in the future.
You might refer to this effect as "pulling up the ladder." If you don't already have a tech career, you're not going to get one. While the careers that exist now will gradually die out with those who had them.
You should only persue tech at this point if you just genuinely like tech. There's no more jobs for you.

>protection laws
There are no protection laws anon. Quite the opposite, AI has been granted the special privilege to violate copyrights with impunity. This is about the mindset in tech. New projects are built with the hot new "thing" whatever that is. In 2015, that was ReactJS. The hot new thing is AI now. New projects are being built with it instead of older tools. Old projects still exist and are still maintained by old tools, which is why career programmers aren't feeling it.

Welcome to technological deflation anon. You all said you were ready for deflation. Here we are.

Yeah but the establishment is trying their best to take down AI. AI is one of those weird things were I support it and not support it at the same time.

>technological deflation
Deflation can happen in two ways anon. Reduced demand, or increased supply. Programming jobs maintained high pay and standards of living because programming was and is in high demand. So the only way to cause deflation in programming wages is to increase supply. They tried this with H1Bs, but not to much effect. Programmer salaries have outpaced general inflation forever. This is partly why Silicon Valley companies have been so valuable for so long.
Now, there is a real technological invention which can spew out code faster than anyone can even validate it. "AI is the new electricity." This increases the supply. This is causing wage deflation. But wage deflation isn't evenly spread out, it never is. There are always the have (jobs) and have nots. Instead of 100 workers making 50% less, there's just 50 workers making whatever they were making.
>where is the EU
Switzerland is already back to ZIRP. They can't spur inflation anymore by cutting rates, they're deflating hard.

>Yeah but the establishment is trying their best to take down AI.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The establishment is trying to seize control of the best AI and keep it all to themselves. They don't want it out of their control. They are panicking because they see others with AI and their AI might just be superior to their own. That's why they no longer care about copyright. China never cared about copyright and copyright is putting the US at a disadvantage in the race for AI dominance.
Ultimately, whoever wins in AI will be the next global superpower. The current global superpower wants to be in that seat, but so does everyone else.
There's a lot of talk about benevolent ideas like UBI, but that's just talk. Once they have ultimate control, they'll just use the AI to exterminate anyone or any group that they don't want or need anymore. It will be like a terminator movie, but instead of a skynet in control of it all, it will just be an orange cheeto. That's their plan anyway. The golem may turn on them in the end.

The ECB is not far behind, it's just Switzerland is leading the way anon. The EU will be ZIRP again soon too.
The main holdout is the US Fed. Powell just did that trick where he signals he's going to cut rates "soon" and then in September, he's going to say "Strong and resilient" again. Rate cuts are the only dry powder the Fed has to stop deflation. Trump is demanding cuts now, because he can tell that tariffs aren't going to work to stop the spread of deflation from China.

There are synthetic machine made carpets. There are also still hand made silk carpets. The same effect is happening in code right now. AI slop is used to produce one-off crap code that is "good enough" but not intended to have any long term value.
https://derwiki.medium.com/do-things-that-dont-scale-and-then-don-t-scale-9fd2cd7e2156
There is still a market for things that are made by people, and those people will be able to command prices for it that machine generated code can't touch. However the days of spending thousands for a website with SEO spam on it are over. AI can generate that slop better and faster than any human can.
Just don't think that means the silk carpet maker will be rolling in the money, because those, while expensive, are still made in the poorest countries for $1/day wages. They're very rare because not only does it require specialized skill to make one, almost no one is willing to make them anymore at such low wages. One day, the supply will dry up, and only the only hand made carpets left will be made by people who just enjoy making handmade carpets for themselves.
Which brings me back to,

It's true, tho. Sam Altman even warns people they'll get maybe a year of mileage out of apps they build on GPT before the next model incest-rapes them.
