basically a set of cpu instruction flags that are supported by relatively newer processors (maybe 12 years old not exactly sure). So it's more optimized than packages built using march=x86-64 (which is the arch default), although I'm guessing they still set mtune=x86-64 so all hardware is supported, just newer processors can get some more optimizations. I'm not too familiar so my wording may be wrong just have done that while cross-compiling.

>*mogs you're distro"

I've installed this in a VM.
You can't log on on a Xorg session. No password works. Needed to switch to Wayland, then I could log on without password.
Couldn't get Limine to work.
Tried again with grub2 since I know it a little better.
Plymouth spazzed out and made the boot process hang indefinitely.
Edited grub2 boot / kernel parameters plymouth.enable=0 disablehooks=plymouth. Then the fuckface distro started to work.
Uninstalled all Plymouth packages.
It works now in my VM.
Inkscape started extremely fast even though it's a VM.
Conclusion: It's shit and cool at the same time.

Please don't tell me that it's made by troons (it probably is).

I tried out cachyos but gamescope was just completely unusable, I used the correct prefix but no games would launch. I used the gaming package they shill and aside from being full of garbage I don’t want it most of the shit in it didn’t work right, I also had all my apps get fucked up every 3 days forcing me to do the uninstall/reinstall nonsense, and frankly the daily updates requiring me to restart my computer got tiresome. The last straw for me was the constant fucking crashing, and it was the weirdest kind because you could still move the mouse but you couldn’t interact with the desktop at all. I tried asking for support but the most I got was

>why are you using gnome lmao

Yes, why am I using one of the official DEs that’s packed with the installer? Annoying children.

Ubuntu has problems sure but I never had issues like this. I just typed in “sudo apt install gamescope” and it installed and worked without issue.

I thought so too so I ran memtest86 but I didn’t have any issues, I thought it might be my expo settings so I disabled expo but that didn’t stop it either. I don’t have and hard drives in my computer but I did check disk health and my drives were all fine. Again, I never had these issues on Ubuntu, the worst I’d get is certain games like dragons dogma 2 or starfield would cause the Wayland session to crash but even that was pretty rare.

Maybe I just have a gremlin on one of my disks I dunno.

that doesnt matter. one look at the gamescope repo shows that theres a bunch of issues with gamescope and using it on gnome requires some patches that are not officially shipped with gamescope yet. because gnome decided to be different from all the other desktops. gnome is the desktop that refused to implement DRM leasing for VR for a long time so steams documentation on getting VR working on gnome is to install KDE plasma and launch steam and vr through kde plasma.
