I'm testing out the interpolation now. I've seen videos that were rendered with svp where it made a noticable difference. that rife/svp interpolation is supposed to be faster.

rife is really cool. but different models for it vary for different videos. for instance earlier versions tend to do better for anime while the up to date versions are more optimized for realistic films.

Got a case, a 4070 super and a bunch of sata and an nvme to go along with this. Not sure about the motherboard and PSU. PCPP says 519 wattage, could I get away with using my current 550 watt seasonic focus plus gold or is the headroom too little?

Anonymous No.106499437 [Report] >>106499625

looks alright
however, i think that board has some lane sharing fuckery going on, so if you populate the board with multiple nvme then you'll be kneecapping your gpu
since you have a bunch of storage you are better off just looking at the pcie lane distributions and shares and find one that won't fuck other components by making them run with less lanes if you populate the m.2 slots
in regards to the psu, I've been looking at the tier list in the op and I've concluded anything under 750w is just asking for something to go wrong
for like £25 more than msi you could get the montech titan gold 750w which is better than the msi or for £23 more than msi the corsair rm750x which is way better than those two

Probably overkill for what is (assumedly) a gaming build. It's fine if you need the specific feature set but could save some money if not.
Not to countersignal the other anon but the lane sharing isn't a big deal for gaming. PCIe5x8 has twice the bandwidth of PCIe3x16 (which is still enough for a 5090). Different story if you're going to do GPU compute though.

>could I get away with using my current 550 watt seasonic
Yeah probably. Might trip OCP if it's an old (<2019) Focus+ but that's more of an issue with the architecture than the raw power. Suck it and see.

Problem no1. Have you seen them IRL? Have you seen the fringing?
I can conclude that it's too bad, your eyes will struggle to focus at sharp lines due to the 3D going on due to the fringing pixels, the glossy coating will make it even worse, it will sear your eyes out, only if you are gonna use the screen at quite long distances and maybe even with scaling
close distance, good eyesight? forget about it, unless you are prone to these things

the only qd you can try right now would be the 27" variants to reduce it. matte reduces it more, but it's still there

at this point I don't think it's worth unless 27" 4k or 27" 5k, which might fix it, aka 220ppi

if not I am yet to try the WOLED and see if it's less harsh, has extra subpixel but atleast it's regular RBG Stripe not the diamond dots shit

Problem no2. Not sure if Gigabyte has any oled care msi like forced panel refreshes due to the 16h timer. if they do, they will give you aids, due to buggy firmware and many more things. Asus would not have this I think so far.

why would you need to disable DSC? if you have nvidia 5000 it's solved

IRL sadly there are no desktop OLEDs in any stores, as they only have the cheap mass market crap in retail. Only a few OLED laptops and a lot of OLED TVs (of which I have each of both at home anyway). But I'm not going to be using this screen for text work, only for gaming and maybe movies whenever I can't be assed to turn on my CX55. I'll still be working and browsing on my laptop (OLED but very high PPI so no visible fringing).
Looking online, WOLEDs don't seem to be obviously better than QDs in terms of fringing, but I'll take better colors over better text for this _particular_ purchase. But if there was an otherwise identical Tandem WOLED, I would've probably taken that over the QD.
>why would you need to disable DSC? if you have nvidia 5000 it's solved
At least looking at >reddit people still have black screen issues with 5000 and that Gigabyte. It doesn't seem like anyone can say with any certainty whether DSC is on or off (which I guess means that who cares if it's on or off, but I'm worried that those issues might be firmware-related then). Having no proper switch in the settings is annoying.

look at the pic, woled has rgb stripe normal subpixels but an extra white one, look at the folder top and whatever, you have clear lines you can focus on, ips and woled have segmented square blocks of pixels, qdoled is diamond pattern all over, you can't focus
impossible, don't know how they can say qdoled has less fringing than woled, but idk
have not used one extensively so far can't tell 100%

you also have numerous reports online that people swapped from qd to woled for less eyestrain and it solved it, same as people swapping to 27" 4k qdoled and it solved it also over 32", I believe this is 100% due to the pixels being smaller and causing less strain, people were saying it was due to less blue light on the new panel and whatever, no no no

>but I'll take better colors over better text for this _particular_ purchase
only works if there is no eyestrain

>black screen issues with 5000
could be the cards, drivers or could be the display itself, not sure yeah, some people report amd cards have less than this? so might be current nvidia
also like how I got black screens on this screen but not other over usb-c dp, where as it was rock solid with zero black screening on another

For rough particles, but fine nylon filters stop the small shit that would otherwise coat all your components.

Manufacturers love the current vogue of using mesh only because it saves them money on manufacturing and gives better termals on initial reviews.

If you live in very clean apartment (no pets, children, clean often) mesh only can be okay but Im honestly too lazy to clean my computer so full filter case it is.

How important is it to buy memory from the motherboard vendor list? The bog standard 32GB 6000CL30 Corsair vengeance kit is listed but the 48GB variant isn't. On my current 5700x build I bought a Kingston fury renegade 32GB 3600CL16 kit and it works perfectly fine. Are vendor lists just a "cover your arse" type thing for mobo makers?

Would a 6000CL28 kit with 28-40-40-100 timings actually be worse than a 6000CL30 kit with 30-36-36-76 timings? 6000CL28 with "proper" (28-36-36-96) subtimings seems prohibitively expensive for 48/64GB.

You can't even get 240 with a 5090 on any relevant games so you don't even know if it's enough.

An RTX 5070 isn't powerful enough to saturate PCIe 4 let alone 5. Don't worry about it.
Of course, if you can get a used and abused 4070 for the same price or cheaper than a 5060Ti then go for it.

Well how much money you got and how much is the 4070 you found? I would in general say if you're trying to be cheap go buy any turing (rtx 2000) card from the 2060 super onward depending on budget, otherwise a 5060ti (16gb) or 5070
In my mind a 4070 would have to be under $400 to be actually worth buying.

Are you going to be able to use a regular psu? Lot of the newer prebuilts you can't just use an adapter like you used to be able to. You might have to use a second psu just for the gpu or something (I think you can still do that?)
Also mobo might be a pain to fit into a regular atx case.

With an adapter yes. My 4770K GPU I bought a $10 cable to use a regular ATX PSU. Seems like the corpo PC to home PC build market has come a long way in a few years since there's a lot of parts to adapt it.
>mobo might be a pain to fit into a regular atx case.
I'll need to drill and make it work, but I've seen guides on YouTube doing exactly what I intend to.

Thanks /pcbg/! I'll do a 5070

and now it stalls at "0xAD - DXE_READY_TO_BOOT" and does not ever go further. The motherboard is an asrock romed8-2t. The old RAM worked just fine. Anyone have any ideas? The board supposedly supports LRDIMMs in addition to RDIMMs, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Wonder if I undervolted my 5090 wrong (just followed a guide where they raise the graph and flatten the right side of it, took it down to what should be 0.875V). The thing still produces really warm air, although I do run it in a somewhat thermally constrained mITX case (NR200) where half of the space left from the GPU is taken up by the massive CPU cooler. Quite silent though.

NTA but this does make me wonder if I should save and get a ~144hz OLED instead of a 240hz one. I don't really need 240hz, it's just that the cheaper ones all seem compromised somehow.

Any downsides of using a Micro ATX mobo in a normal-sized PC case?
>looks silly
It's just a bit shorter, no?
>fewer NVME slots
It still has two, which is okay.
>less I/O
I have 2 free ports on the back and 1 on the front, it's fine.
>only 2 ram slots
It's dual channel and I'd never go for 4 sticks anyways.

Am I missing something crucial? It also has 4 SATA but I'm not using any.

Sounds about right, you just have less space for shit and might need to be careful with how big of a cooler you can put in it so that you can still fit RAM and whatnot. But then it's a consideration for some of the full-sized mobos as well.

Transistor count I don't even think is like standardized between the 3 (or maybe it is I don't really know I just feel like I've heard that before)
And the corez on one architecture aren't the exact same thing as the corez of another.
Also software.

got a 2016 rig i was gifted, a shite ibuypower pre-built that had a GTX 1070, i7-6700, 110GB SSD boot drive and 1TB HDD, and old ram i can't even remember the details of. slapped some extra matching ram in at one point, got gifted an RTX 2080 Super, and have an RTX 2080 Ti on back end because my older brother just impulse bought a lot of shit several years ago.
looking to finally just make a big upgrade for a 1440p machine since my old fans are dying and my CPU is just too old now, got a Corsair RM 850X power supply from a few years ago (2021 line), and a Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor. as someone blind to PC building besides a few videos and some general ideas, would that RTX 2080 Ti even manage to push non-RT 1440p worth a damn, or is it better to start considering a new GPU tier altogether? and just going through loose stuff I've heard before, is any of this a worthwhile setup, overkill, retarded, etc.

i'm thinking it's actually my fault. the cable connected to my monitor sitting above my main is the one that keeps dying. when i squeeze the part right below the connector or twist it, the monitor loses signal and sometimes gets stuck at 60hz (dsc off). tried this on the gpu side and that did not happen.

i'm guessing moving it around too much on the monitor arm is causing the cable to get damaged over time? i dunno. what are some good dp 2.1 brands? silkland is actually the most expensive one on amazon

Some areas of the processor are effectively "dead" or inactive, and companies aren't transparent as to whether those areas are being added up in the transistor count.
Radeon GPUs also have three levels of on-die cache; their L3 infinity cache is a means to work around using slower GDDR6 chips.
Intel omits the inactive transistors from their transistor count info.
