first glossy qdoled I got still 32" 4k 240hz was searing my eyes out and gave me kind of eye strain due to it being hard to focus on the clarity due to the subpixels, giving a blurry vision, never got headaches or shit like that, I am still contemplating how bad this issue is on this monitor
*BUT* due to having a matte coating the fringing is reduced quite a lot compared to glossy and it seems easier to look at and does not give that 3d/chromatic aberration/color vibrating kind of shit (glossy gave even on full colored test pattern, rainbow shit if looking around), pretty strange
allegedly people who have this problem swapped to woled and the other type subpixels fixed it or other things, other said 27" 4k version also improved eye strain alot

Transformer Model is some black magic, looks and feels really good to play. Even at 1440p with my RTX 5070 I can just crank almost any game to mixed high/ultra, turn DLSS to Balanced and FrameGen to 2x, and enjoy 120+ FPS.
DLSS and FrameGen are only bad if you're on some really old shit hardware like a 2060 or whatever and trying to upscale 540p30fps to 1080p60. Ofc that's gonna look and feel like trash, the model has barely any input data to work with, and the latency of 30 FPS is horrible.

My friend has one and he loves it, he said he hasnt had any issues, so that is mainly why I was going to order one. However, I bought some headphones recently instead.

The DP dropouts have to be frustrating, and I agree, I don't want to change my use habits but I am going to be paranoid. I am glad most panels now cover burn in under warranty for however long that is at least.

Main issue is that my current GPU cant really push 4K that well and 32" is a touch bigger than I really want given I run a triple 27" arm. I can fit the 32" in the middle but I'd have to fuck with the other monitor mounts with an VESA extender

Anyone here who has a c8, what fan setup do you use? I wanna do rgb, but I'm so confused about what the best choices are without spending a shitton.

Yeah I was eyeing a 4k in that size, GPU be damned. The S81 didnt have great reviews but if the price is right on one I'd consider it. Mostly trying to stay around $600 otherwise ill just stick with my IPS panel. Really I was going to give them a bit more time to unfuck the panels and features, although it has been a while and the OLEDs are still very, very pricy so they may not come down much anytime soon. Might be a black friday/next year purchase for me if I go that way

First time building a pc, frens at work have convinced me. Does all this make sense at a basic level? As in is anything here notoriously bad, or are there any glaring incompatibilities that the site didn't pick up? Did i miss some critical conponent? Yeah no gpu, the cpu has integrated, and i need to learn a lot more about gpu specs etc... before picking (gonna talk to the boys at work about it), and it should be fine as-is as a start i think? Intel 12, 13, and 14th-gen CPUs are made on the older 10nm node, which is less power efficient compared to Zen 4 and 5 CPUs.
Intel also had to patch some voltage-related issues for their 13 & 14th gen CPUs, and the new "Intel Default" BIOS settings basically overvolt the chips @ higher loads to guarantee stability.
The new default settings cause the chips to run hotter and hit their power limit earlier.
You need to set manual load line calibration for your CPU's voltage regulator, and also adjust the CPU's AC/DC load line to undo that default overvolt.

The 13/14th gen is fine if you know how to tune it, but they draw more power than a stock 7900X or 7950X after all that anyway.
You also need to spend a few days stability testing your settings through a variety of loads.

Stability testing a processor isn't super complicated. Realistically if you can go 15 minutes in p95 without throttling or a blue screen there's a 99.99999% chance your overclock/undervolt is stable. Games are optimized around the assumption you're using upscaling for anything that isn't potato settings and even then it's pretty heavy. FSR will definitely get you to good framerates in I think literally everything out as of right now, but I think I would play at 30fps before I did that if the choice was that or old fsr.
So it'll work for now but things are pretty rapidly going down hill for gpus like that.

My setup uses 3x tl-c12c-s as an intake at the bottom and whilst the top uses the same set of fans as exhaust, I used 140mm TL-c14c-s as rear exhaust complementing the PA120 dual tower heatsink and I've set 3x tl-c12cw-s reverse fans as intake at the middle slots. Connecting everything including the RGB is a pain. But the C8 has ample space for reroutes and cable management, so it's much easier.

I'm making an XP 32-bit machine. Why? Because I'm tired of trying to play old video games and shit not working properly even with community patches.
Crimson Skies, Bloodlines, Hitman 1, the old ass Harry Potter games, KotoR 1 and 2, the Riddick games, etc. There's too many games that I want to play but I can't do it properly on modern hardware. The one game that really inspired me to do this was Arx Fatalis. I couldn't get it to work on Windows 10. It runs after installing Libtertalis, but then the game would randomly give me a black screen of death after 40-60 minutes and I'd have to manually shut down the computer to get out of it. Every time I tried getting help on the issue, people just say "install Libtertalis and it'll work fine". I'm about to swear off of "unofficial patches" for good because of this.
I copied some youtuber's XP build while plugging in my own leftover stock where possible. The only spare case I have doesn't have any drive bays, but I read you can install XP using a usb drive and use daemontools to mount game discs and get cd audio that way. I also know the 750 Ti isn't exactly accurate to the XP era, but nVidia has drivers for it and they seem to work so whatever. Just waiting on the motherboard to arrive so I can get to it.
Hopefully the build will go well, if I have enough fun with it I'm thinking of trying one of those early dual GPU setups even if the performance isn't much. I'm also thinking of doing another build for Windows 98, but pcpartpicker's builder doesn't list any hardware from its era, so I'll need to do my own research before I know what to grab for that.

You're in a position where you can start upgrading piecemeal as you see deals for the hardware you want. It's what I did a couple years ago and how I ended up using a 7700K with a 6950 XT for a few months. You'll have to upgrade the CPU/MOBO/RAM at one time, so see if you can find a bundle deal somewhere since those are usually the best prices you're going to get from major retailers. PSU depends mostly on the GPU, at least in a typical system.
I don't know the requirements for that game, but you wouldn't need to spend tons of money to get a significant performance improvement over components that old.

Probably fine. They likely haven't tested that specific RAM kit. You might need to tweak things yourself to get the advertised speed/latency if XMP/EXPO settings don't work out of the box.

Odds are it'll be fine as mobo OEMs don't test for every kit combo under the sun after a certain point. It's only in the first several months of a new CPU/Motherboard/Chipset launch where there tends to be a rash of memory incompatibilities. Just make sure you flash your mobo's BIOS to the latest ver. before installing the ram to maximize it's compatibility.

I'm looking to build a first time pc for 2d animation and light video editing(krita, opentoonz/tahoma2d, adobe premier) and am having trouble deciding on a CPU+Mobo. I want to keep the two under $450 combined ($500 absolute max). The way I see it I have three options:

Get a new 9600x and a good motherboard, eventually upgrade my cpu with a later Gen (or a 9900x/9950x when prices go down.)

Get a budget AM5 mobo and wait for a discounted ryzen 7 or 9. I suppose I could also go used but I'm a little hesitant. If I go with this route I'll probably run it until the wheels fall off, upgrading the cpu and mobo together when they do.

Would be better to just use the preinstalled fans as front intake and put the money into the main components. As it stands this rig will pull <300W which really doesn't take much airflow to dissipate.
