Those are releasing in 2027 at this rate, if that, and youll be lucky to get them near MSRP until Q3 2027 if not 2028. Might be worth considering that.

I bought it spontaneously to check out for 715$ in europanistan in direct conversion due to specific flash sales, even though I was done with qdoled
it's currently on normie sale for 1070$ in direct conversion, the regular price is 1400-1700$ which.. yeah

issues
>the dp port blackouts
loses connection (and sound goes off) usually after 7-12 minutes of starting monitor from cold state, I don't think but don't quote me on that, it's not been happening after that and runs stable, although people were having issues with this happening at random times, bug with monitor or firmware/driver/gpu whatever, nobody knows, my other qdoled had 0 drop outs ever, take as you will
some people don't have them over hdmi2.1 instead of dp, but others still do

>the qdoled fringing question
first glossy qdoled I got still 32" 4k 240hz was searing my eyes out and gave me kind of eye strain due to it being hard to focus on the clarity due to the subpixels, giving a blurry vision, never got headaches or shit like that, I am still contemplating how bad this issue is on this monitor
*BUT* due to having a matte coating the fringing is reduced quite a lot compared to glossy and it seems easier to look at and does not give that 3d/chromatic aberration/color vibrating kind of shit (glossy gave even on full colored test pattern, rainbow shit if looking around), pretty strange
allegedly people who have this problem swapped to woled and the other type subpixels fixed it or other things, other said 27" 4k version also improved eye strain alot

>the game bar pop up question
not found it as annoying as others but also useless, every time you start the monitor the game bar (if in game mode) starts and you need to watch it for seconds before it goes away, with a follow up info shit that also later goes away. which you want on for 240hz/vrr btw.
you can go in service menu settings and disable these settings, also do other mods like brightness tweaks

tbc
Anonymous No.106567566 [Report] >>106568295
>>106567518
minor point

>no pixel shift option
maybe can disable or tweak this in service menu too, sometimes pretty annoying, I have seen some people reported actual overshooting like it pixel shifts off the actual usable grid on the monitor like on tvs, due to them not having any excess pixels to cover the pixel shift, never seen that so far

so, if all these things were addressed I guess it would be good, except I still wonder if glossy is not better, also more brightness maybe since idk something about the image is just not THAT impressive still, unless looking at hdr videos demo in the dark or something

it could improve osd settings a bit more too

I'm thinking all the 5070/Ti/5080 haters are just retards who want to upgrade every 2 years and expect double the performance for the same price. The 5070 is a great upgrade even coming from most 30-series cards, let alone everyone still on 1050/Ti/1060/1650/1660/Ti/Super/20-series.
Nobody's willingly buying AMD when FSR is years behind DLSS and playing games at native rez in 2025 is retarded due to blurry TAA vs free extra performance and visual clarity with DLSS, and free 144Hz gaming as long as you hit 70-80 FPS as a baseline with framegen.

Transformer Model is some black magic, looks and feels really good to play. Even at 1440p with my RTX 5070 I can just crank almost any game to mixed high/ultra, turn DLSS to Balanced and FrameGen to 2x, and enjoy 120+ FPS.
DLSS and FrameGen are only bad if you're on some really old shit hardware like a 2060 or whatever and trying to upscale 540p30fps to 1080p60. Ofc that's gonna look and feel like trash, the model has barely any input data to work with, and the latency of 30 FPS is horrible.

>Glad I didn't bite on that.
plenty of people are happy with it, idk what I am expecting, maybe I am jaded, maybe I should take the TV Pill
but those small issues are real, but dp dropouts have been reported across pretty much all other oled monitors too which makes it strange, others have way more other bugs and whatever, yeah nothing is perfect

if you are gonna use an oled just use it, stop trying to change usage habits

but yes oled is not that good for productivity because of the subpixels exactly, might be doable might be not might be fine idk

depends on how high your threshold is for small annoying things, I think at this price I am still kind of on the fence about it
if it gets crazy cheap that's when you can stop caring about small issues because considering it is so cheap
the price is good but still Idk

if I get an lcd I will probably be even worse off

My friend has one and he loves it, he said he hasnt had any issues, so that is mainly why I was going to order one. However, I bought some headphones recently instead.

The DP dropouts have to be frustrating, and I agree, I don't want to change my use habits but I am going to be paranoid. I am glad most panels now cover burn in under warranty for however long that is at least.

Main issue is that my current GPU cant really push 4K that well and 32" is a touch bigger than I really want given I run a triple 27" arm. I can fit the 32" in the middle but I'd have to fuck with the other monitor mounts with an VESA extender

Yeah I was eyeing a 4k in that size, GPU be damned. The S81 didnt have great reviews but if the price is right on one I'd consider it. Mostly trying to stay around $600 otherwise ill just stick with my IPS panel. Really I was going to give them a bit more time to unfuck the panels and features, although it has been a while and the OLEDs are still very, very pricy so they may not come down much anytime soon. First time building a pc, frens at work have convinced me. Does all this make sense at a basic level? As in is anything here notoriously bad, or are there any glaring incompatibilities that the site didn't pick up? Did i miss some critical conponent? Yeah no gpu, the cpu has integrated, and i need to learn a lot more about gpu specs etc... before picking (gonna talk to the boys at work about it), and it should be fine as-is as a start i think? (Should run, can be upgraded later) the case should have 4 fans in it, i dont know if it comes with wires i need or if i get those seperate to hook into power supply

If storage seems low, i already have a lot of multi tb ehds that i intended to usb in, same with monitors, other peripherals, and will just make a boot usb so no OS

Don't buy a 12900K or any i9 unless you have a clear need for it; these chips run hot, and they need some BIOS settings adjustments (not recommended for new builders).

This is a Ryzen 7800X build; you can swap to a higher core count CPU if you need it.
Switched the cooler to an AIO in case you use a higher core CPU, the case you picked can fit a 280mm radiator at the top.

Intel 12, 13, and 14th-gen CPUs are made on the older 10nm node, which is less power efficient compared to Zen 4 and 5 CPUs.
Intel also had to patch some voltage-related issues for their 13 & 14th gen CPUs, and the new "Intel Default" BIOS settings basically overvolt the chips @ higher loads to guarantee stability.
The new default settings cause the chips to run hotter and hit their power limit earlier.
You need to set manual load line calibration for your CPU's voltage regulator, and also adjust the CPU's AC/DC load line to undo that default overvolt.

It's not worth doing if you're a new PC builder.

Would either one of those "base" models easily handle the addition of a gpu and heavier usage (ai, gaming at "high settings" [my old m.o. is cranking settings down, ini tweaks, etc... to forcibly run modern aaa shit on 5-10y/o laptops, it don't look pretty but i can make it work, and enjoy the challenge, lifelong software guy, but hardware cheapskate/luddite] cooling-wise?)

Or better to stick with aio for mid-term (sticking with this cpu and motherboard for the next decade) futureproofing and scalability (more ram, storage, gpu, etc...)?

Stability testing a processor isn't super complicated. Realistically if you can go 15 minutes in p95 without throttling or a blue screen there's a 99.99999% chance your overclock/undervolt is stable. Even if it wasn't at that point a random windows bug or a gpu driver or something is going to inconvenience you for like 30 seconds with a restart first.

I'm making an XP 32-bit machine. Why? Because I'm tired of trying to play old video games and shit not working properly even with community patches.
Crimson Skies, Bloodlines, Hitman 1, the old ass Harry Potter games, KotoR 1 and 2, the Riddick games, etc. There's too many games that I want to play but I can't do it properly on modern hardware. The one game that really inspired me to do this was Arx Fatalis. I couldn't get it to work on Windows 10. It runs after installing Libtertalis, but then the game would randomly give me a black screen of death after 40-60 minutes and I'd have to manually shut down the computer to get out of it. Every time I tried getting help on the issue, people just say "install Libtertalis and it'll work fine". I'm about to swear off of "unofficial patches" for good because of this.
I copied some youtuber's XP build while plugging in my own leftover stock where possible. The only spare case I have doesn't have any drive bays, but I read you can install XP using a usb drive and use daemontools to mount game discs and get cd audio that way. I also know the 750 Ti isn't exactly accurate to the XP era, but nVidia has drivers for it and they seem to work so whatever. Just waiting on the motherboard to arrive so I can get to it.
Hopefully the build will go well, if I have enough fun with it I'm thinking of trying one of those early dual GPU setups even if the performance isn't much. I'm also thinking of doing another build for Windows 98, but pcpartpicker's builder doesn't list any hardware from its era, so I'll need to do my own research before I know what to grab for that.

all those things do is to keep you physically connected to the ground point which is typically the pc case. you can get the same effect by touching the pc case every few minutes

its ok to do it on the wooden desk. special mats dont really do anything unless you are building on a metal table or carpet flooring which can discharge electricity

You're in a position where you can start upgrading piecemeal as you see deals for the hardware you want. It's what I did a couple years ago and how I ended up using a 7700K with a 6950 XT for a few months. You'll have to upgrade the CPU/MOBO/RAM at one time, so see if you can find a bundle deal somewhere since those are usually the best prices you're going to get from major retailers. PSU depends mostly on the GPU, at least in a typical system.
I don't know the requirements for that game, but you wouldn't need to spend tons of money to get a significant performance improvement over components that old.

Probably fine. They likely haven't tested that specific RAM kit. You might need to tweak things yourself to get the advertised speed/latency if XMP/EXPO settings don't work out of the box.

Odds are it'll be fine as mobo OEMs don't test for every kit combo under the sun after a certain point. It's only in the first several months of a new CPU/Motherboard/Chipset launch where there tends to be a rash of memory incompatibilities. Just make sure you flash your mobo's BIOS to the latest ver. before installing the ram to maximize it's compatibility.

Thanks for answering my retarded ass. Google agrees. I guess I could've gone there first instead of bothering you guys, but I panicked.

If I found an approved model number on the list that's just one letter off from my RAM, does that make my chances more likely? Or is each RAM model a unique snowflake, and similar models suggest nothing?

I'm looking to build a first time pc for 2d animation and light video editing(krita, opentoonz/tahoma2d, adobe premier) and am having trouble deciding on a CPU+Mobo. I want to keep the two under $450 combined ($500 absolute max). The way I see it I have three options:
>option A
Get a new 9600x and a good motherboard, eventually upgrade my cpu with a later Gen (or a 9900x/9950x when prices go down.)
>Option B
Get a budget AM5 mobo and wait for a discounted ryzen 7 or 9. I suppose I could also go used but I'm a little hesitant. If I go with this route I'll probably run it until the wheels fall off, upgrading the cpu and mobo together when they do.
>Option C
The same as option B, but with an ultra core i7. Obviously there's no upgrading here, so I'd be using this for awhile, but everywhere I see online says Intel is almost always better for productivity (although information on Krita and Opentoonz specifically was a little scarce.)

The rest of the build (in the USA BTW)
>RAM -Crucial Pro 2x32gb ddr5-5600 $140
Plan to add two more sticks later on, hence the lower speeds
>m.2 Ssd - silicon power ud90 2 TB m.2 ssd $90
>2.5" Ssd - team group t-force Vulcan Z 2 TB $90
>Psu - Montech Century II 850w 80+ Gold fully modular $90
>GPU,- none at the moment, looking at the arc b580 just to smooth out video editing and the occasional game at 1080p , but its not a priority like RAM and the CPU
>Cooler thermalright Frozen edge $45
>Case - Fractal design focus g - free

Planning to top mount the radiator, move the two pre installed front fans to the bottom and rear, and add two 140mm case fans to the front.

Thanks in advance for any advice/reccs

>>106572252
At that budget Intel would certainly offer more multithread performance. Up to you if that's worth losing out on the in-socket upgrade (FWIW last gen might be even cheaper).

>Plan to add two more sticks later on
Honestly unless you're comfortable with RAM tuning you probably want to go 2x48 or 2x64 GB from the jump.

>SSDs
I think I'd drop the SATA and get a TLC boot drive. There's strong 4TB models at $210-220 which is only $30 more than your combination of slow drives.

>move the two pre installed front fans to the bottom and rear, and add two 140mm case fans to the front
Would be better to just use the preinstalled fans as front intake and put the money into the main components. As it stands this rig will pull <300W which really doesn't take much airflow to dissipate.
