Last thread an anon did a comparison between 5 different upscalers.Honestly they're all pretty much the same. More important things are your sampler, scheduler and denoise settings, and above all using models that don't generate artifacts in the first place rather than worrying about upscalers.

Creating inverse masks for inpainting would be neat wit this. Currently doing it automatically with a button through SwarmUI but I always preferred A1111's GUI since it's hyper customizable.

just use CFG 7, use plain Euler for sampler and set step count to 25.
make sure to call an artist or something to stabilize/guide the output a bit. "muji \(uimss\)" is a decent option for testing purposes.

Nah, year tags are too broad. A whole decade has a ton of different styles and artists, so it's not specific enough.

That one anon's gen, for example, has a retro feel but you can't really pin it to a specific era. MAybe it's probably the tag for some scuffed, obscure artist. Might not even be an anime style, feels more like some old seinen manga.

This is good but is not good enough.

I literally prompted solo, 1girl.

Neo ReForge and Classic need 0.0.5+ more of complicated setup while Iliasviel's Forge is:
download 2gb file,
dump in folder,
run.bat file and it downloads everything automatically literally braindead easy

Do your initial gens at 1024 instead of 1536, even if using an Illustrious 1.0-based model. It's faster, you don't lose coherency (the model is still trained to gen at this resolution), and you can always upscale and inpaint to gain additional detail later.
Do your initial gens at 15 steps until you get a good seed THEN raise the steps to refine the seed.
Doing these two things will save you a TON of time finding a good seed.

Latest Miso Diffusion checkpoint. Anime-tuned SD3.5m.

Details on Huggingface: https://huggingface.co/suzushi. Danbooru 2025 dataset (Jan-May 25) and processing toolkit: https://github.com/suzushi-tw/wd14-toolkit available for use.

This model has some substantial improvements, sharper images, better character understanding (unlike v1.0). Hand issues remain; may need 3M+ images for multi-epoch fix.

Trained 5 epochs with 1.08M images.
Further training may be adjusted due to overhead with more images.
Only clip merged; t5 adds censorship and negligible appearance changes.

Epochs cost ~$130.
