I was traveling and for the first time realized I may want or need a powerbank.
All the tickets and shit these days are online and yet the charger at my seat was broken, so I was sweating with 16% charge left that I would be stranded without a way to show my ticket and a dead phone.

I have a pixel 7 (internal battery is supposedly 4355 mAh) and would like to have a full charge, also I care more about weight and size of the powerbank than total capacity. I'd be using it when traveling and maybe when hiking for a few days.

I repaired one for someone recently. Doing a teardown made me realize how shit these things are. It's an electric heating element with a fan.
The whole thing is encased in plastic. There's no concern for separation between the metal cook chamber and the plastic housing.
What I'm getting at is you're essentially slow melting plastic into your food with each use.
It's the latest fad so everyone is about it. I'm sure some where down the line is the inevitable "oh btw these things are bad for you" conclusion. And then the fad is dead.

+ it just werks. all buttons click (the back side button needs to be pressed on a specific spot or it doesn't register)
+ surprisingly smooth movement and has DPI settings to 2000
+ you get a rapidfire/turbo button to the left of the left click. this allows you to select one line of text if you're not using it for games
+ 1m long braided cable which you don't even get on the fake razers
+ the mouse feet are textured plastic instead of the smooth glide ones so there's more accuracy here vs fast twitch
+ your hand feels comfy when you align it to the mould/grooves
+ has led lighting if you're into that sort of thing

I havent tested mines with the fuck ass apple dac but it was fairly easy with the samsung s10e (i only have it ~20-40 volume when outdoors)

Last year I made an arduino project with a VOC sensor. It seemed useless since these cheap sensors aren't really high fidelity instruments. I'd already completed the project anyways so I left it sitting on a shelf running 24/7 with a small display showing the same range of VOC measurement all the time.
A few days a ago the reading spiked high. I've never seen it before. I figured the cheap shit sensor reached its end of life.
The next evening a CFL light bulb started flickering and burned out. There was a noticeable burnt electronics smell. The VOC sensor must have been detecting the slow burn and emission of gasses from the dying bulb. I replaced the bulb and aired out the room. The sensor as gone back to showing normal VOC levels.

I have a mi pad 6 and yeah hyperOS kinda sucks. Not in that it's fundamentally broken, just that it's full of bloat. That didn't used to be a problem because you'd just flash a custom rom onto it, but apparently xiaomi made that much harder to borderline impossible now, which sucks.
For what it's worth I had a motorola G5 plus before the pixel and while the hardware wasn't anything impressive, the OS was pretty decent. They had some motorola specific stuff, but actually useful (like more gestures for quick access to apps like camera). Been so long that I have no idea if that's still true though.

I'm not willing to go full autism but don't ever get a surface, fuck microsoft, fuck surface and fuck anyone working for that godforsaken company in a manager position or higher.

I got a surface a long time ago when I was younger and more naive with the understanding that I'd overpay for the hardware and in return get a seamless and "premium" device that had no rough edges in user experience.
What i got instead was a piece of shit with heating issues that had fanspin from opening file explorer, a keyboard where the fake leather flaked off after a short bit and left black flakes everywhere, and then the screen started flickering. The flickering got worse and worse and made the thing unusable.

For what it's worth, a relative of mine has one, I doubt it's much better built than most csg ones (though much more expensive because bought locally).
It works surprisingly well, certainly better than I expected. They don't use it for ice though, just fruit, smoothies and shakes. 2.0mm mechanical pencil and color refills for it. Pencil is pretty flimsy, but they sent me three of them (plus a sharpener and an eraser). I don't know what exactly I was expecting, but this is just like using a colored pencil, but you can click it.
Rear "smart" bike light. Built very well, aluminum housing, can be mounted on saddle rails or any more or less round tube. Uses something like Garmin mount, not 100% sure it's exactly that one -- don't have anything Garmin on hand right now -- but looks very similar. Smart features are auto shutdown if stationary for a while, and auto turn on if it detects movement; it shines brighter if detects braking (or any sharp movement, judging by my testing in hands); and it supposedly can sync flashing with other lights around it, but I have only one so can't test that. It's decently bright, the controls are sane, I'm not entirely sold on "smart" features yet. But for 10 bucks it feels like a very decent light.
Gamepad I bought for use with my Saturn and Blueretro. It's a BT gamepad, 8bitdo, so you already know that it's built alright and works. People hailed it as having the best d-pad in modern pads, but I'm not a nerd to that degree, so can't say. One thing that I can say is that color doesn't match exactly with OG Saturn pads: it's matte instead of mostly gloss, and has slight yellow hue to it.
I also got one of them meme t-shirts, but it is too cringe to show. Print quality is abhorrent, they've got the lowest resolution image possible and just stretched it, and it feels like that kind of print that just flakes off in two washes. The shirt itself is fine, got XXL instead of L I usually wear and it fits.

My understanding is that the zigbee protocol makes it so most devices in the network are a repeater already. At least for me I find that my zigbee network effortlessly reaches where my wifi won't without repeater, so mabye consider holding back on the repeaters before you know you need them.
Assume mains powered stuff to act as a repeater/router. Not so much button cell powered devices like a window sensor.

Most zigbee stuff is plug and play, at most you'll usually find screw terminals, no soldering needed. If however you want a soldering iron, the guide covers taht.

I have had great success with lighting and thermostats. Mixed results with buttons or power plugs, some of those can get "stuck" pairing after the first time, so try to get it right the first time.
In general if you use a gateway you will need a 2.4Ghz wifi network, 5Ghz will not work.
Consider running homeassistant and getting a zigbee usb dongle rather than a gateway if you're technically inclined and have a device you can use to run it with as a server.

Double and triple check that the devices you buy are actually zigbee compatible. Especially with smart plugs but also lights sellers will often make listings that look like zigbee then mention somewhere hidden that it's actually wifi (not the same and not cross compatible). They do this because zigbee devices cost a bit more to make than wifi devices.

Overall I make it sound harder than it is though, it's fairly simple to set up and I quite like mine, but I'm not super deep in the automation autism, I just like being able to turn on and off and dim different lights for different scenarios without having to manually do so. Also thermostats are a godsent if you have normal old radiators, heating up the bath so it's hot for a shower but still saving money etc.

I bought this and it's total a garbage. It does not stream over usb (usb is only for charging), it requires a phone and their app for it to work. They have instructions on how to set it up on windows pc but you still have to install their dodgy executable (.msi) and even after that I could not get it to work. I owned similar cameras before and it used to be the case of just connecting to usb and opening it in vlc or any similar dvr software or pointing an ip in vlc in order to stream over wifi

So I got this in a box tray, I looked it up and it's an OEM cpu. Anyway, I have an AM4 system that somehow ended up without ram, so I want to ask, is the ram from weird chink brands worth it? Brands like Juhor are cheap and come with interesting designs, but obviously I'm cautious, anyone know anything about offbrand chink ram?
