They also updated Gimp and now if I merge down to one layer and copy all it gives me this shit rather than the properly cropped version (where it increases image size to fit all layers perfectly and adds padding to do so). Cropping doesn't do shit unless you export the file.
Why the fuck would you do this?

Yes but I can't spoonfeed you because the listings change all the time, so what worked for me won't necessarily work for you.

Read the guide and the /ck/ guide linked in it to get some basics about knife stuff if you don't know those already, then look for one of the decent factories selling VG10 damascus steel (which means vg10 core with a cheaper cladding). Outperforms expensive german knives for a fraction of the price.

I had a similar one and it almost killed me.

The insulation inside it failed and the tip became live at mains voltage and when I was desoldering a ground pin I also touched parts of the ground plane at the edge of the PCB, getting a shock big enough to trigger my GFCI - I'd be dead if my room's circuit wasn't protected by one.
Never get an ungrounded mains iron.

Has anyone ever bought the tiny thinkpad clone looking laptops from Ali? Having a tiny 7” laptop sounds comfy for my electronics workstation to not take up much space but be useful for having docs pulled up or run super basic windows programs. Are any of them actually good? I know GPD makes nice ones but those are like 800$ and there’s cheaper ones for like 250-350$
Anonymous No.106982788 [Report] >>106982863
>>106982723
I haven't tried these specific ones, but you should really consider if 7" is enough (inb4 it's above average).
I find 10" to be the sweet spot for portability while remaining useful to work with, and even there the keyboard will get cramped. If it just works as a terminal that's SSHed into a server, fair enough, but I think you'll really appreciate the additional screen real estate for docs and schematics. Sadly for tablets in that range your options are usually android or overpriced x86 laptops with shitty battery life (though I suppose that won't matter if you keep it plugged in). Still waiting for that ARM tablet that has native linux support or at least makes flashing linux onto it easy while not costing 3 times what it should.

I use a 14" Lenovo laptop as my "main" laptop for actual work.
For documentation, notes (obsidian) and ssh sessions I use a Xiaomi Mi Pad 6 which is 10". It's a great size for when being more compact (and lightweight) matters. It's thin, small and light.

I always recommend to relatives to measure out the relevant sizes (7", 10", 14", whatever you're considering) and mark them on a piece of paper. I find just a screen diagonal to be too abstract, when you really see the size as a mockup you get a feel for what you do and don't need. 7" might be enough for example for a PDF if you either use it vertically or are willing to scroll more; if you want to be able to see larger circuits or maybe have one half of the screen for notes (obsidian) and the other for the PDF, then it's borderline too small. All depends on your usecase.

>>106982889
Not really in most purchases, it's like a 1-2% flat discounts usually. But if you seek out coin discounts and try to maximize them you can save a lot with them (though about half of those "savings" are fake as those listings are often overpriced to suggest larger coin discounts than they really offer).
Sadly the aliexpress app is just plain better than on the computer; search works, the different store pages like bundles etc are easier to navigate, most of the discounts etc. come from the app too. But it will schlurp your data in exchange for that.

Realistically speaking, what can AliExpress even do with those permissions? The fun things are usually done with location info (too lazy to search it, but there was a fun talk at CCC last year where they got some location data set (as a free sample, afaik) and looked for folks that are often at various political buildings in Berlin and a know brothel…) and that is always from some apps that ask you for it, AliExpress doesn’t even do that.
Camera and photos is a risk, true, but if apples safety functions are fucked, AliExpress is the least of my concerns. Plus, they already got my address and know that Anon Anonberg, living at Anal Alley 666 in Fucking, Bavaria is regularly ordering buttplugs, so Chang already got me by my balls (which brings me great pleasure).

I’m probably gonna skip 1111. If the trend from the last years is gonna continue, it’s not gonna be worth it, if you’re not a thirdy (or neet) whose time is worthless. I’ll monitor if AliExpress is gonna change their mind, but I don’t have high expectations.

I have that exact one.

Your luck runs out when I tell you I know nothing about monitors. Any questions I can answer though. It's good. There's some ghosting but that comes from being a VA panel. I wouldn't say it's majorly noticeable. Blacks are black, there's a local dimming option but the higher you set it the dimmer the entire screen gets so sometimes I just have it off anyway.

The easiest one that came to mind for me is Calibre and Kindle.
To sync to you phone syncthing.
Free and you are in full control of your data, plus no self-hosting required.
But it'll only sync if both instances of syncthing are running and in the same local network, so still a pretty hacky workaround.
If self-hosting is an option you can either run a sync method like nextcloud or just straight up host your calibre libary to the net such that you can access it anywhere. But that's a fairly technically demanding approach.

The best idea I can come up with is to just create your calibre library in your google drive and you got it both on there for easy access on your phone and on your kindle. But even that's not ideal.

Most of Europe uses Schuko type F. What you are refering as type C is the old Europlug, and while it can be used in schuko plugs, it's currently only sold on on devices with a double insulation logo on them (square within a square logo, like a small tv that has its shell made from plastic) (or chink shit that wants to kill you). No certification body in the EU will allow your new device to pass its certification, and be sold, if it has exposed metal pieces and is using an europlug.

Syncing my reading progress is important, so it's a shame Calibre can't do that. Sometimes I like reading on my phone, sometimes a laptop, etc.
I have a NAS so I don't mind keeping book files there but I'm a bit shit in knowing how to actually configure that NAS.
It just seems weird there isn't a more seamless option out there than actually relying on Google. It's handy to just be able to pick up where you left off on any device as long as it has access to GPlay Books. Is Amazon's Kindle app any good if I bought a Kindle? I know you can upload your own files to them but it's a bit painful to do

I mean you can use the kindle app as you said, but then you just switched from one bad option (google) to another (amazon).
My books are all DRM free so I personally wouldn't use either.
That being said normie relatives who do not mind embracing the ecosystem seem happy with the integration of kindle and the app. Maybe another anon can chime in who has a bit less of a normie mindset to explain if it's worthwhile.

I just upload them separately to GPlay for that convenience.
If Kindle works OK I don't mind switching just for the sake of being able to use a Kindle device, but I don't know how seamless Kindle is on PC and non Amazon devices, and if uploading your own files is a pain in the ass as it iseems. I know Kindle doesn't take .epub, and most of my books are .epub so I'd have to convert them all. Don't mind so much but eh still annoying because often it still results in formatting issues

Local upload with a cable is trivially easy with calibre, just press "upload" and it sends it, sets up the folders etc.
>I know Kindle doesn't take .epub, and most of my books are .epub so I'd have to convert them all.
Again, calibre does that automatically.

You can also send files to your kindle via email iirc, but my kindle has been in airplane mode since the day I got it so I can't speak to how well that feature works.

I got this remote for 10 oyros and I really like it so I'm going to tell you guys about it

The build quality is good, the body doesn't bend or flex too much, there's some unsmooth edges but overall it feels good.
The buttons are good quality rubber with good printing and feel pleasantly clicky to press.
There's a decent-sized keyboard on the back which feels comfy to use, unfortunately the punctuation keys aren't on their own buttons, they're Fn alts, but I think it's probably better to have fewer bigger buttons rather than more tiny ones.
It has air mouse functionality which is really impressive, previously when I've tried this on other chinkshit it's been really jittery and/or swung around unpredictably, but this is very smooth, very useable.
It's got both a dongle AND a separate bluetooth connection, both of which work well, though the air mouse feels a little more sluggish on the bluetooth. Still good, but not as good. Apparently it also has a learning IR function but I haven't had a chance to test that yet.
It's backlit, and you can cycle through about a half dozen backlight colours. The backlight LEDs aren't that good, they're not very well diffused so it looked a bit mottled, but you can definitely see the keys in the dark, it's not a big deal.
The keyboard automatically disables if the remote side is face up and vice versa so you can't accidentally press keys.
The only drawback for me is it takes AAAs rather than having a USB-rechargeable lithium cell. But I might mod that in myself.

It's just really good, I love it. I literally only bought it because I had to pick something to fill out my bundle and it's actually the favourite thing I got in that delivery.

It does actually
I do have one other qualm about the back light though, it only turns on when you press a button. Maybe I'm just spoiled by my Shield remote which turns on from the accelerometer when you pick it up.

You could try Koreader, it's hard to figure out how to use it but it's very customisable. Honestly I don't mind personally if it's well made. Polyester that's well made is super soft and easy to clean. Still attracts smells easier than other materials so it needs more washing, but I have some polyester blankets I adore.
Issue is the cheaper or worse made polyester feels like the loop side of velcro, which is not enjoyable at all.

>meme cap
While you are all jumping on meme t-shirts, I'm one step ahead with meme caps. Not a fan of fishing ones, so got one about underwater fishing.
>bike tail light (Giyo GL09S)
Got another one (own multiple bikes), to find one I really like to recommend to everyone who asks. This one is much more flimsy than the XOSS one, full plastic. Quick release is pretty stiff yet doesn't look very sturdy; but you get two of them: for seat rails and for any round tube. Modes are more or less the same, manual promises up to 24 hours in my favorite mode (slow flash) and up to 100 in eco-flash, whatever that is. Has a couple of "smart" features: auto shutdown if stationary for 45 seconds or in a bright light; auto turn on if you are moving, and a brake light. Plenty bright as well. For 6 bucks it's pretty decent.
>USB DAC (Snowsky Tiny A)
Since Shlomo took 3.5mm away from my tablet, and I can't be bothered to charge Bluetooth headphones or DAC all the time, I've got this little thing. But this specific one has a very cool feature: pass-through quick charging. So I can just let it plugged in and still charge my tablet normally, while having a proper audio jack. It sounds just as well as you expect from one of them chink DACs. Also features 10 band PEQ, if you're into that sort of thing. Should work with the switch too. Could recommend it if you want to let it sit in the port 100% of the time.

buy whatever you want for gloves and neck stuff, but do NOT cheap out on your jacket, get the best one you possibly can. I'm not a biker but are you sure you want to trust chinese safety equipment?
Biking is inherently dangerous and from my understanding your jacket, gloves, boots and helmet are all risk factors: helmet (duh) where you want torsional impact testing. Fortnine the YouTube channel has a good explanation about what to pay attention to with dot and Snell standards.
Second is gloves, where at low speeds your hands are likely the first thing to contact the ground if you have a tumble. Third are shoes/boots because as a beginner you have a good chance of having the bike fall onto your ankles. This is mitigated by most legislations requiring beginners to buy lighter machines.
Lastly a jacket that has been tested on a Darmstadt machine for abrasion resistance. At higher speeds you will slide and the asphalt will become sandpaper, with your skin being the wood.

If you want to be even more safe, add an inflatable airbag vest (the analog ones with a chord and refillable has canister not digital fancy ones) but that step is for those who want to be really safe and don't mind both a lot of added cost and looking goofy with them.

It fit my requirements perfectly on paper, its why i impulse bought it. So long as the SSD i bought separately doesn't bug out on it, it's the best one i could want for the price tag. Looking at the footage so far is pretty good, definitely 4k footage judging by my phone.

>ive rode bicycles for a decade i know that being in two wheels can be tough, im just always hyper aware and i know speed can turn a minor injury into a fatal one
Fair enough. At the risk of beating a dead horse, keep in mind that accidents get worse exponentially with speed, not linearly.

Anyways regarding your question:
Bike accessories like phone holders, as well as personal accessories like a neck gaiter or glasses can all be had from Ali. I don't really use temu so no idea how it compares, apparently it's okay for clothes so maybe worth getting a windproof gater with UV protection rating from there - but personally I'd likely stick to Ali.

At the risk of asking a question that can only make you sad: Consider probing with ffprobe/ffmpeg to make sure it's not at a lower res and just pretending to be 4k (fooling the file explorer details about resolution is trivially easy and a lot of cheap cameras do it)

i bought a kobi e-reader and gave it a pretty good amount of usage until i finished the few books i was interested in, and now it just sits in my room. I repurposed an old tablet into a manga-reading device but the same thing happened and i rarely grab it now. I got a phone stand and i use it like once a month at most

Well, if two thin devices and a phone stand are enough to cause you a space problem then I don't know what to tell you.
Of course I have some chink shit I also rarely use but nothing that would cause me a "space problem"

The PAW3395 sensor is more than enough for me.
Don't need any of that 4K or 8K polling or PAW3950 sensor.
Hopefully the Z2 Mini can last "forever" since it has hotswappable microswitch sockets

The only major difference between the fake and real is that the inner pocket mesh is thinner on the fake. Everything else is authentic, including the materials used. Most aer stuff are being sold at half price in taobao and people are of consensus that the chinese factory is leaking the design or it's b-grade stuff.

its possible, but there was like ~4 resolution settings on the app for the camera, so maybe, it looked pretty high-def on my phone, and im a pc-monitor autist, so i think i'd notice, but yeah, its plausible.

Then don't bother finding out; either it's what it says and you wasted your time, or it's worse and you'll feel worse.
In the end as long as it's good enough for the purpose you got it (dashcam use) it doesn't matter frankly.
It's like my thermal print camera being actually 420p rather than 1080 and faking resolution. Doesn't matter anyways because the thermal printer can't achieve that fidelity anyways.
Anyways, I'm hoping it'll be there and work when you one day need it, that's what these things exist for after all.

Basically light is one of the cheapest ways to make a room more comfy in appearance.
For comfy lighting there's really only two rules you need:
No cold lights (so a warm color temperature, unless it's for a work surface, in which case colder light is fine)
and no central light source. If you have a single ceiling lamp to illuminate your room it looks sterile.
To get around that you want multiple smaller light sources thrown around the room.
Look at some sources for rooms you find to look comfortable and you'll note that it largely tracks with those two rules.

The big issue with that approach though is that rather than one big switch to turn on the light in a room, you now have multiple lamps that you need to switch on, in the past the solution was often a weird solution like multiple power strips rigged in series, so you could toggle them all with one switch, but that lead to cables and limited options on where to put lights. These days with ioT smart lamps (I use zigbee for example) it's as simple as clicking a setting on my phone (or a physical button that talks to the zigbee network).

Picrel is some of the changes I had done for my room and posted sometime back, the effect seems less strong on the image than IRL, it makes a massive difference (the white color in those pics in the after looks warmer IRL, also that sunset lamp is on the opposite side of the room now and pointed at the ceiling for more of a moody setting).
Far from perfect, but a massive difference for not much money.

I've seen wifi smart switches that can be powered off just the live wire IIRC.

Don't think so. Everyone and their mom moved on from wired to wireless now. Plus you can run almost any wireless mouse as a wires one if you want. I've tried three chink mouse brands -- VXE, Ajazz, Attack Shark -- and all of them included a cable so soft you don't even notice it's there.

I always wanted to improve the lighting in my house but im no electrician and im afraid of making a mess of a cable set up

For instance i would like having a low intensity "warm" light during the night in my bedroom, or one directly above the bed for reading

If you are, any reason you order stuff from Ali instead of ozon? Same range finder can be bought there for cheaper and with faster delivery, not to mention that ozon always sides with customers over foreign sellers.
