>IronWolf Pro because Red Plus is 2nd gen SMR shit. If the consumer drive doesn't end in Pro, it's crap.
WD Purples up to 10TB are also SMR. Yes, there's a reason why they ever introduced Pro versions in the first place (server drives with different sticker colors/animal names the rest is SMR garbage to reduce costs), this should become a common knowledge at this point. Here are the pics of data distortion detection tests of old Red EFRX and the new "CMR" Blue EZAX (same Venice drive family as Red Plus EFPX or Purple PURZ) and the newer model performs much much worse.
There are no more consumer grade or even nas/raid grade CMR drives, the enterprise level is the bare minimum to find a guaranteed CMR drive (although even there there are some doubts because some wd golds have 2tb/platter density), also sata format is dying fast, they will eventually stop producing sata devices and focus on nvme, unless you move to sas you're out of options.
Oh and those miners along with the AI boom will dry up the supply pretty fast. Hard drive manufacturing is dead at this point. I pretty much wish death to WD and Seagate for turning such magnificent tech into unreliable buggy garbage not to mention that they killed high quality manufacturers such as HGST and Samsung.
