OP is objectively more precise than what you are suggesting. If he went with "he is better", then you could misconstrue it as OP being ignorant of Valve's history of using theater actors, or that this single character's/actor's performance is a notable exception within Valve catalogue.
The only reason you could misread OP, is because YOU entertain the possibility of using they as a singular specific pronoun.
