I feel both games are in different tiers. The first Last of Us is pretty good all around without really achieving the peak that everyone here has seen in their favorite games.
Horizon is just mediocre in every aspect and it’s impressive. The bottom doesn’t fall out but not is exceptional or great aside from the graphics I guess.
What really soured me was when the prince of a tribe proposes to you, a good deal for Alloy and you are given three flavors of no for dialogue options. Fuck off

Both games justify that big tv screen more than the console I feel like. Anyone who marvels at how much money a game has while not being broken from that immersion by bugs (which neither do, they are tightened up) will love them.

I enjoy the combat in both and the second game improved on it drastically.

Very few games give me the opportunity to actually play a hit and run stealthy-shooty type of combat where I can actually have the enemies lose sight of me and then run around and stab them in the neck. It feels very cool and fun and both games provide interesting setpieces to do this in.

Swimming through a flooded warehouse just underneath the bad guys, running around on the dilapidated rooftops hurling bricks at people before I run up on them with a bat while they're stunned, the whole california section in tlou2 was one of my favorites

It's just genuinely good combat. I really wish tlou2 had multiplayer like the first, I can't get that experience anywhere else still
