It's gatchaslop, but I like it. It's a good game for phones because it's simple and easy on the battery. The story was better than I expected and it has some good music. The simple chibi graphics during fights are charming. If you want something with more sophisticated gameplay you may be happier playing something like ZZZ.

if you like cheesy VNs that bounce between goofy, mystery, and tear jerkers, the story is actually pretty good. Well written with wholesome messages. You can just read the story and look up momotalks (dates with girls) online and ignore everything else if you want.
The gameplay is nothing special but decently fun. Really more of a puzzle game than anything as in "how can I beat this with the random units I have?" If that sounds fun, you'd enjoy it.
Ironically, I think it's more enjoyable the less OP gacha units you have. If you whaled it and had every unit fully upgraded it would take away all the decision making. You'd just always choose the meta units for any given content. It's the best when you have to scrape by with subpar units and still get a victory.
Overall one of the better gachas for doing fully f2p.
Also the OST is fantastic.

If you can't handle cheesy anime style writing then it's not for you.
The only thing I'd call badly written are some of the actions scenes where we're expected to believe an already tired and injured student can fight off endless waves of supernatural killer ghost nuns or chase a mech down a skyscraper and still survive. But this can be handwaved away with "muh halo magic" and I just treat it as the script saying "[insert over the top anime bullshit here]". Still enjoyable.
The plot structures are always well put together with payoffs and character growth so I'd call the story solid.

As far as gacha are concerned I think so. The story and events are good if you like cute girls and anime cliches. You barely need to engage with the gacha side at all to enjoy the the story as most of the combat sections use preset teams and seemed to be un-losable.
If the chibi autobattler doesn't interest you then the only thing you miss out on by not rolling for specific girls is their relationship and valentine event scenes, which you could watch on Youtube anyway.

Nah, the game had a good production value but anyone of note left the company ages ago and now the art and writing are taking a nosedive.

There's also nothing to do, it's basically a daily login chore games once you've caught up a little. The story's great but the game itself is just an auto battler. So far the only thing approaching interesting have been Gregorius, Chokmah and Geburah, but even then they were pretty simplistic and just came down to having the stats. Worse is the game could improve a lot if they just gave a few more level 1 and 2 students with good movement options so and added maybe a third specialist slot, just so you could manipulate the battlefield a bit better. That and added the option to discard ex skills rather than having to use them to cycle through. But even then it'd still be a pretty easy game where the only difficulty is stats and having the right unit which is down to the gacha. The fact it IS a gacha ruins it entirely. Too many upgrade materials required for too many things to upgrade (skills, stars/levels, the weapon afterwards)
But with all that said, the story is legitimately amazing. It's also free and you can pretty easily get a decent crop of students from the first few rolls. So basically just get a decent few starting students, power level up to around 40-50 so you can do the one level gate in the main story (volume 3, chapter 3) and then play through the story in its entirety without caring much for everything else. You'll miss out on stuff like the momos/relationship stories but, that's not that big a deal in the vast majority of cases unless you really like a girl.
Also Asuna is best girl and I will never forgive the shitposters for their defamation of her character. Especially when Hanako exists for lewding.

I'll be honest, I initially only picked up this game to see what the story's about. It's a visual novel separate from all the gameplay, if that's what you're after then the gacha is irrelevant. Even the girls I'm interested in have more presence in the story than when they are pulled as gameplay units

The content that wants you to have limited units are always just a recycled enemy with bloated stats (either from another piece of content, or a lower difficulty in the case of this game). Also fomo and dailies are the consequences of live service design rather than gacha design, when people associate this with gacha they kind of let MMOs continue to run free with it

When it comes to the Gourmet squads strength in general, I feel like like it's Haruna and Akari carrying the squad. Junko and Izumi are dead weight. Haruna is the leader, the ideas person, the food critic, and the one kidnapping Fuuka 24/7. She's competent as heck. Akari, on other hand, is a black hole but also genuinely insane. She's competent in a different, more scary way. Izumi is also a black hole BUT her problem is she is too pure and also a bumbling idiot. Not as insane as Akari but not as smart as Haruna, she's the one who always fets left behind. Junko's problem is that she's the straight man of the group. She applies too much common sense to the group's logic. In a way, her inability to go with Haruna's insanity is what holds her back. If the gourmets really wanted to be a menace, they would cut Junko and Izumi and become a two-woman group like the Hot Springs club.

I feel like this is overblown. I think kokosando does a pretty good job of replicating DoReMi's style without losing that "Blue Archive" style. Also, they can always have new artists come in too replace the old guard. They literally got some guy called koo3473 to do Hasumi. Ironically enough, many people have drawn Blue Archive students that there could possibly be tens if not hundreds of replacement artists waiting to be hired. Blue Archive being killed by a lack of artists doesn't seem possible. Now, a lack of a good story is a different matter...

Eh, I can kindof excuse Blue Archive for the way the story has been stagnating after Volume F. Pikaman's dumb mutiny probably meant the other writers had to probably scrap things that he was involved with. Black Suit and Maestro being written out. Nameless Priests and Chroma being MIA despite being the so-called antagonists of the BA. It all smells of massive rewrites happening behind the scenes to change the direction of the story. I started playing last month, the gameplay is "leave it in autoplay" tier but I like chibis, and the story so far is really good, in a cheesy "you can win, because I belive in you even if you don't :DDD" kind of way, the characters are all likable and never found myself not rooting for them, don't play it if you don't like dorks, it has lots of them.

The story combat is definitely "press auto and wait till it's done" but missions are a fistfuck halfway in. I hate special armor niggers so much it's unreal. Granted all non-raids will eventually become autoplayable as well but pushing maps 40 levels above yours is fun
