my work issued macbook is extremely slow compared to my 2 arch loonix sway/i3 compooters (a 2018 i5 dell laptop and a 2020 ryzen desktop)

as in disk access, running same shell commands, even keyboard input lag

15-30ms arch for ls ~/ vs 150-300ms on tim apple

the only catastrophic hardware failures on laptops i've seen recently irl is 3 2010-2013 macbooks (gpus dying on 3, also battery inflation on one) also a 2018 macbook wifi being cut off by interference of hdmi to usb dongle.

the wangdong oem laptops usually work fine for what they are and last until the hinges break off, doesnt matter dell, acer, hp, ibm/lenovo, doesnt even matter if poverty tier or not..

i did have a 2003 sony vaio P4 basically gaymer laptop whose ATI gpu died due to overheating, but lots of of dust crap got in there and i didn't know better at the time...
