Car companies are looking for different sources of revenue to "create value for the shareholders", and anything goes. From turning features into subscriptions to forcing you to go to a dealership because every part nowadays has to be decoded for your car to fucking sell your data to insurance companies.

Security updates don't matter if you are not retarded. As long as you don't download malware on your own like a moron, or expose your computer directly to the internet, you will be fine. Chink botnets equipped with SMB exploits can't reach your PC if its hidden behind your ISPs router. You can make your setup even more idiot-proof with 3rd party firewall like simplewall, since most malware can't bypass any firewall at the first place, or install russian font in your system that you don't really have to use (guess why). All videos on youtube like "OOOOH I CONNECTED OLD WINDOWS TO INTERNET AND GOT HACKED IN 10 FEMTO SECONDS!" are doctored because every single time they either download the malware on their own or connect it directly to the internet, which is absolutely not the case for any normal user, I can't stress this enough how much I hate this lying linux trannies who lie like this.

There are ways for you to get infected with malware without you going out of your way to run a suspicious executable... seemingly innocuous files can be crafted to take advantage of exploits in web browsers, pdf readers, image/file viewers, etc.
Exploits get discovered for web browsers every year, which makes people running old browser software vulnerable targets for drive-by malware

I don't know if this story is actually real, but if it is it would be pretty easy to prove there was only one person in the car by either:
>microphones / cameras detecting his son was the only voice / person in the car

>I absolutely do not believe this actually happened.
It did. All modern cars collect data from connected devices.

https://web.archive.org/web/20250301015314/https://www.forbes.com/sites/larsdaniel/2024/10/11/is-your-car-spying-on-you-the-alarming-truth-about-car-data-collection/

>According to Australian consumer advocacy group Choice, top car brands like Hyundai, Kia, Tesla, Ford, and Toyota are collecting various forms of personal data from their vehicles. The data gathered can include everything from driving habits and location history to biometric data such as voice and facial recognition.
>Hyundai and Kia, for example, collect voice data through their vehicles' recognition systems, which is then shared with Cerence, a company specializing in AI-powered interactions for the automotive sector.

Easiest way to deal with this is to find the antenna(s) that allow the car to connect to the internet and break them. This will leave all the software in the car intact and probably not brick your car... Yet.

>Chink botnets equipped with SMB exploits can't reach your PC if its hidden behind your ISPs router.
Make sure to disable IPv6 in case your ISP's router doesn't properly implement a firewall (or worse, rugpulls you by breaking it in one of their mandatory updates).

This is why NAT actually is a security feature, because the internet sans NAT is exposed by default and has to have forwarding restrictions to prevent exposure, whereas NAT is restricted by default and you need to do a port mapping to expose it.

I'm not too familiar with these individuals and their ideology.

>Yarvin has been described as a "neo-reactionary", "neo-monarchist" and "neo-feudalist" who "sees liberalism as creating a Matrix-like totalitarian system, and who wants to replace American democracy with a sort of techno-monarchy"

>Drawing on computer metaphors, Yarvin contends that society needs a "hard reset" or a "rebooting", not a series of gradual political reforms.[47] Instead of activism, he advocates passivism, claiming that progressivism would fail without right-wing opposition.[48] According to him, NRx adherents should design "new architectures of exit" rather than engage in ineffective political activism

So he's another hard-sell propagandist for the cult. We don't need any of this 1984 Brave New World Klaus Schwab Yuval Harari posthumanism crap. It's antihuman. As bad as past Christian Monarchies are seen today, they would be preferrable, parliamentary or absolute, I don't know yet, I haven't researched this subject enough to have a nuanced opinion.

One thing is absolutely certain however, no monarch had the power, or sought to have the power that these technocrats have and want to have. They were responsible in front of God for the protection of their people in a fundamental sense, whereas the Thiel types are brazenly posthuman and want to transform humanity into something else, which is heretical, and Yarvin's ideal is a complete 180 in comparison to any random Christian monarch in the past millenium. These people are unhinged and are in rebellion against the image of God: man, or if you want, rebellion against nature.

>Should humanity survive?
>uuuuhhhhhhh
- Peter Thiel, 2025

I'm currently listening to youtu.be/918qslcfwfY and Thiel's cadence is forceful and impatient that technology is stagnant, almost to the point of barely containable seething. Are his types an enemy to mankind? Is it a stretch to say that this ideology and rhetoric is an existential threat?

Its multiple lies combined to push a certain angle.

>1) Modern cars are a privacy nightmare
This is true, but depends upon car brands. This type of language is the same as people pushing the "All religions are same" when confronted with notion of terrorism/evils of the modern day era. Its meant to obfuscate, hide and create false impression for certain companies they do not like or like.
>story about insurance
Random shit, 100% chance its a lie
>impaired driving prevention
This is true, but its not privacy invading because these technologies are all on vehicle hardware that detects whether the driver is attentive to driving or not. There's no privacy implications, there is however soft limitation of driving when this gets triggered. If someone is drunk/sleep/passed out/etc, the car stops going instead of crashing right into another car and killing both the driver/those involved in accident.

Honestly at this point there's only 3 things holding windows 7 back
>drivers
Sucks for the absolutely newest hardware, but you can still use Ryzen 9000 single CCD CPUs alongside an RTX 3090ti or an RX 6950xt and get plenty of power.
>dx12 support
Some of this you can get around with an old version of DXVK. But also at least one of the newer Vxkex devs is working on d3d12on7.
>TLS v1.3
There's already a lot of services that lock you out on Windows 7 because of this, but you can get around it with a proxy server hosted on a separate win10 or linux PC
And as far as security, anon above already said basically everything you need to do
As long as you don't need to run Office 365 PhoneHome Edition or the latest UE5 slop game, you can still get anything you want done on Windows 7.

They don't expect you to use them for a decade plus. They expect you to get it on payments, drive it for 3-5 years, then trade it for a new one. They start breaking down if you keep them longer than that. That's enough time for a 256GB SD card to store 360p footage of you recorded when you're driving. If it does run out of space it'll just overwrite the old files. More likely they just stream the footage using the same service they collect the rest of the telemetry with.

Having a camera pointed at your face is inherently a privacy violation.

Ideally, identify the telematics unit and remove it. That might brick, if the manufacturer was a dick. Merely disconnecting the telematics antenna would still result in EM radiation potentially strong enough to communicate to a very close cell tower, or at the minimum it will be transmitting the car's IMEI in close range for snooping sensors on the road to detect and log.

You can change the color, size, and font of basically any UI element in Windows versions prior to 8. This is XP's classic theme, but 7's works much the same way. The only things that lacked dark mode were third party software, which isn't the OS's fault, and even then good software would just use the system's color scheme.

in fact, you should probably look there first, because GOG installers are digitally signed, meaning there's no way to get malware unless the legit installer from GOG is compromised (slim chance)
just check that the installer executable is signed before you run it, and you're good to go. larger games will come with a bunch of *.bin files next to the installer. these can't be signed, so you also need to make sure to check "Check file integrity before installation" within the installer

I don't like the way Linux operates. Its designed to be updated constantly, draw all its software from a single online repository, and lock everything behind strict UAC. I prefer the lack of security and lack of updates on XP. I can use software from the early 90s if I feel like it on XP, I can't even find Linux software from the early 90s if I want to, let alone install, and heaven forbid I try to run it on a modern distro. I can keep all my software backed up on a single CD that I don't even need to install from to run said software. I don't need to worry about permissions. I don't need to do tedious troubleshooting (not that I can't. I have done it on my Linux machine, and that's how I know its asinine. Manually adding edid configurations to xorg.conf is awful)

There are lot of nice looking windows managers for Linux I wanted to use, but couldn't because they haven't been updated in a decade or two, meanwhile the new versions use one hundred times as much ram and cpu while looking like shit. Those being KDE, XFCE, and Gnome. Audacity is currently killing itself with a major redesign, and this is after it already added telemetry. Blender continues to remove features like its game engine or CUDA support for older GPUs while constantly hiking RAM usage. In terms of Windows programs Free Download Manager went to shit, Word went to shit as well.

>It doesn't work though
I repeat again, it works on machine. I haven't gotten pwned yet, despite doing this for15 years.

>digitally signed
Absolutely meaningless. I've installed modded Chinese drivers (modded as in the actual .sys file got patched, not just .inf) which were completely signed and showed up as legit. The fact is that signing keys get leaked. The whole "digital signature" nonsense is security theater.

This is a north american problem though. Destroy america.

America and western Europe and their "culture" are a cancer on the world
>expensive rent
>expensive food
>can't afford a home
>can't afford an apartment
>can't afford to save money
>can't afford to have insurance
>can't afford to copy video games online
>invaders get to have your free shit

Funny how NONE of these problems exist and everyone is doing just fine in places like romania, serbia, hungary, georgia.

Funny how if you just leave american aligned countries, your life just gets better and improves drastically for no reason at all.....

>man forced to live in cuck RV and cant afford land or a real home
>can't afford a future or a place that you can do whatever you want with

Land of the free and rich BTW. NUKE AMERICA, DESTROY AMERICA.

America and Canada have no right to exist. They are cancerous tumors that need to be cut off immediately.

I suggest everyone to use Win10 LTSC - the best up to date windows, support for many more years, and you can disable all the garbage and spyware there.

And pass the word around - more people should know that they dont have to bend over for spydows 11, they can still use 10 for many years
