>Omissions
-9800X3D: ~10% improvement in gaming over a 7800X3D (which is still in production)
-9060xt 16gb: Performance variable compared to 5060ti, consider cheaper second hand options like the 3080
-9070: Currently more expensive than the 5070
-"Futureproofing": Nvidia gpus in general have been aging better than Radeon regardless of vram or marginal differences in raw performance

Leave any constructive suggestions for edits to the op. Is slowly being worked on.

DDR5 prices are actually crazy right now. A 32 GB kit that was $110 is now $190, and it's one of the cheapest. That's a 73% increase. DDR5 has a pretty long life ahead of it, as AM6 won't arrive for another couple of years and the next Intel platform will still launch with DDR5. GDDR7 is basically tied to the same supply chain, and next gen cards will still use GDDR7. Either this shit gets sorted out or it will add another $150 (~10%) to even a midrange build

I once bought a 4870X2
It literally never worked, most games would refuse to engage the second GPU and even with a single GPU, it still had all of ATI's driver issues.
Cooling was terrible, and I remember struggling to get 40FPS in Age of Conan at the time.

It finally just stopped working entirely after 9 months and I got a 560Ti instead.

I'm not, I still haven't done most of the optimization for my computer yet. Mostly because I don't know what to do. But I've saved up hundreds of youtube videos about tech stuff over the last few years. I'm slowly working my way through them to see if there is any useful information. I'm afraid to try these windows optimization overhauls though, feel like it's just going to get rid of things I would be better off keeping or change things for no real benefit.
Haven't played any games yet, but so far I'm not that impressed with the new computer. It still lags when scrolling which I thought I would finally be free from. I have tried turning on and off gpu acceleration it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Not trolling just not tech savvy, I asked here before and multiple people said the 9800 was bad at multi tasking and doing things other than playing games. They said the 99500 was better because it had more cores so shit would just run smoother. I have no knowledge beyond what I've heard here just parroting what others have said. If it's not true than I'm glad I went with the cheaper option. But I still can't get my browser to run smoothly and it's frustrating.

The graphics drivers I linked are for the integrated graphics on the CPU. The integrated graphics might even be disabled if you're using a discrete GPU. You should check in BIOS to see whether or not it's disabled. If it's not disabled, you could disable it and not worry about drivers, or you could have it enabled and split workloads between your Nvidia card and the iGP. For example, you can run a second monitor off the iGP. This is one way to get around refresh rate conflicts, if for example you have a 60 Hz secondary monitor and a 144 Hz primary monitor.

You get what you pay for.

I still suggest the AMD AI max 385 from framework. It's just a better PC (except price, and it's maybe 10% weaker on the GPU side, but if you tried to get 32gb, your PC would be overpriced).
But like I said, the 5070 (or the 9070 XT) would destroy b580, 5060 and the AMD AI max 385. And it's the main reason why the AI max 385, 5060, and b580 are hard to recommend.
>5070 is $800 CAD
Yes, that's $400 more. For 1.5-2x the performance ($800 cad is $500 USD).
I would recommended a 5070 for a 1440p 180hz display (but the b580 and AMD AI max will run it 'ok', but you should stick to 1080p for the best experience + price).
If you just spent 20% more on your budget, or waited, you could have gotten 1.5-2x more fps.

My LG C1 only has 800 nits and it's not even true hdr. ABL happens in game too and can cut off specular highlight which defeats the purpose of HDR anyway. Sure the picture looks better than any other display if you put them next to each other but when I play game I dont tend to think about how it'd look like on other display and just get used to it.

you don't need anything to play dota on 1080p, i'm pretty sure a steamdeck could hit 120fps (this is equal to a 8600g APU, 1/4th the power of the b580).
I will admit, my 20% more for 1.5-2x more performance is wrong.
$1200 to $1600 is a 50% higher price.
But it's up to you, I think the AMD AI max is solid (it's basically the same price if you got 32gb of ram), the 5070 is too much for dota, but even the 5070 struggles to play games at a high FPS, surely you want to pirate a couple AAA games, and sure you might give up after 30 mins because the game is shit, but at least your gpu didn't run at 30fps.
What are your current specs? and if it's a laptop, what model and CPU + GPU is it?

There are also question marks over the QC of those cheaper AIOs.

Performance-wise, not that big of a difference.
Arctic is recommended because they frequently offer decent discounts & they have a proven track record of providing good customer support.
Lian Li AIO is another questionable product wrt QC & support given their past track record, but their new AIO performs very well.

I work in Amazon marketing for a living.
Part of the job abusing Amazon's "list price" and discount features to create fake discounts.
If you buy an item on 20% or less discount in a holiday, the chances are good the discount is entirely fake and it was the same price 2 months before.
If you see an item that says something crazy like 50% discount or more, it's probably actually just a 5-10% discount. Nobody has margins big enough to give a real 50% discount on any occasion, ever.

if your games run fine, no it's a bad option.
if your games don't run fine, check utilization, note that some games can't utilize CPU cores that well, and that will cause the CPU and GPU to be underutilized (you can see that only specific Cores are being used 100%).
if the game is using more close to 8gb of vram, maybe the 5060 TI 16gb would fix some fps issues, but you could just reduce game settings to lowest and it should fit below 8gb.

Yeah, sorry for badgering you about the AMD AI max, I did the numbers and it's clearly $300 more than it should be ($1600)
If you want something gimmicky and weaker, you could get a legion go s for $800 CAD, it is half the GPU of the b580, but I think it's perfectly usable as a main PC, if you store your games on a nvme usb 4 enclosure (the enclosure costs $60 cad), and you can plug it into a monitor (you probably want to buy a usb hub, make sure the hub supports DP alt mode, which would cost~ $100 CAD... and I bet it needs a charger too).
But having a battery is essential if you live somewhere with brownouts.

When something on amazon says 40% off that just means it's 40% of whatever the last listed price was but that might be a super jacked up price so it's just back down to it's normal price and not an actual sale.

Asked a few times and never really got an answer

Are there any monitors that exist with all of or nearly all of the following features:

>Non-OLED
>4k
>31in or larger, ideally 34-36in
>Supports hardware color calibration
>has at least 95% DCIP3 and Adobe RGB Coverage, ideally with both over 97%
>Supports VRR
>Ideally 72, 90, or 120+hz, but I'm fine with 60hz as long as VRR works between 30 and 60fps
>Is under 2000$ roughly, ideally under $1500 or even less
>Ideally doesn't have terrible response times

Or giving up on hardware color calibration, if the Adobe RGB coverage is 99%-100%?

The closest ones I've found are the Asus Proart PA32UCDM (perfect, aside from maybe the Adobe RGB coverage, but it's OLED and I worry about burn in), some of the Proart PA32UCX (only issue is they're 60hz and 5ms response time gray to gray, not sure what its VRR range is), the Samsung Odyssey G7/G70B S32BG70 (but it lacks hardware calibration, I assume) and the Gigabyte AORUS FV43U (which is nearly perfect, aside from no hardware calibration I assume and the fact it's fucking huge, 43in)

Is there anything that's a closer fit then those or is this pretty much it?

Also are x3d cpus a meme? I see that they're much better in SOME games but at 2x the price. Looks like I'm better off getting a 9600X now and upgrading it later.

The 8-cores are a decent investment if you do occasional/hobbyist n-thread work but they don't make much difference for gaming/web/office.

>Also are x3d cpus a meme?
Depends on your budget. Obviously don't sacrifice the card for CPU but if you've got, for example, 5070Ti money $200 can't get you into a substantially better card so spending it on the CPU is reasonable. Or, of course, if you play a lot of naturally CPU-bound games that benefit from the 3D cache.

I know i have to skip the m2.2 line cause it shares bandwidth with the gpu slot so my 2 drives go in m2.1 and m2.3. No problems so far

My question is about that last pcie expansion slot. There is one or the other i can have another hard drive OR whatever goes in that pcie expansion slot. Because if the m2.4 is in use the pcie is not usable and goes off.

What shit might go in there other than a 2nd gpu that i would never pick, are there any other commonly used component that might need that expansion slot?

i can understand that, the fact remains that the "extra" they provide is the x3d and thats covered by the 7800, so you are paying that extra money for a bit more of oomph and that money might be better on other parts.
I did mention that my point was when you have to stick to a budget. If at the end of your planned build you still have some cash to spend,i understand considering it but again if you are on a budget there will be probably other parts you skimmed on.
I agree that it gets too much hate, but i can see where the hate is coming from.

Another one has even more stringent restrictions, only releasing two storage drives or SO-DIMMs and up to four pieces of memory per buyer, although customers buying a completely new PC can negotiate for a higher limit.

>These shops imposed these caps because they haven’t been receiving the expected number of deliveries for these items, and their inventories are running low. Distributors are reportedly suspending deliveries of some products, with no clear outlook for when supply will return to normal. This crunch means that prices for these components are expected to skyrocket, with PC builders and enthusiasts looking for performance parts to be hit the hardest by the shortage and price hikes.

you would get better 1% lows, feel less compilation stutters with a am5 x3d cpu
average fps would look very similar at 1440p/4k in many games, but the overall experience would be smoother
in 1080p situations you would see biggest avg gains

It's going to take a while for prices to normalize, every single time there is a shortage, they always make too much supply once the demand dies down.
Will they learn their lesson and do absolutely nothing, which lets prices skyrocket forever? Probably not because if the AI bubble pops so much more than just Dram prices will fall. So they better get their supply up or else.
And by the time supply reaches us, ddr6 and new sockets, new CPU's, and GPU's will come out.

If you had 4k, you could throw in the cheapest CPU you have, but you are basically locking your FPS to whatever your CPU can handle.
A low end CPU would probably be a 12100f. It actually hits pretty higher than you would expect for a 4 core CPU for gaming, you don't even need a cooler, but it's TERRIBLE for productivity (like blender CPU rendering).

Also the PG27AQWP-W version with full DP 2.1 UHBR20 support seems artificially limited.
At 1440p it's only 540Hz & 720p@720Hz, when according to this bandwidth calculator:

I was looking at 1440p too, but that means I cant play on my ps5 pro in 4k. Seems a little bit of waste, no? Thats why I was looking at the 4k monitors, mainly I was eyeing the PG27UCDM. Now I do realize that on my pc I cant take full advantage of it, but if my gpu can manage 120fps at slightly lower settings on more demanding games then I think it's a good monitor to future proof myself with or no? If I bought the 4k monitor then if I decided to maybe upgrade to a 5080 in the future I'd already have the monitor for it and wouldn't need to spend more time and money in selling the 1440p one and trying to find a 4k one for a good deal. Currently the PG27UCDM is on sale, down from 1200 to 999. Or is it just not worth it in my case?
