What technology should a NEET use for good sleep?
Anonymous No.107152884 [Report] >>107152939
weighted blankets
they are like a cheap low tech version of a hugbox and are known to ease the sleep of autistic people

Avoid blue light radiation AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE 2 hours before you want to go to sleep. Our monkey brains can't really cope with artificial sunlight and it throws a monkey wrench into our biological sleep/wake clocks. We literally haven't had enough time to adapt to glowing rectangles of artificial sunlight.

Night time/blue light filters/using warm dim lighting at night and so on and so on.

I have given up to tell you the truth. My natural sleep schedule is to go to bed at 3 or 4 AM and wake up past noon. I have tried having a regular sleep schedule, it never lasts more than a few weeks at most, then I stop being able to fall asleep. I set my own work hours and work from home so it's not an issue in that sense.

And no, I won't use melatonin supplements. It's probably unhealthy to rely on it, plus it makes me groggy the next morning and sometimes that lasts for most of the day.

I have this problem too but the trick for me is reading a book in bed because books are gay and they always put me right to sleep.

It's the blue light radiation. We aren't as in control of our bodies as we think we are and on evolutionary terms modern tech is poison to us but we can't help it anymore because they've fried our reward section of our brain.

No rectangle of artificial sunlight = sad mutated monkey.

Or maybe you're not getting carpet bombed with blue light radiation anymore. No night mode/blue light filter is going to outperform 0 exposure to blue light radiation.

It's not just that, some people are naturally more nocturnal than others. Believe me, I've tested. What you're saying does help with falling asleep, but not with overall insomnia (like waking up in the middle of the night and then being unable to fall back asleep). But going to bed at 3 AM helps with the latter.

Poly pipe pillow, somewhat firm mattress or futon and a warm/hot shower about an hour before bed.
Screens don't bother me before bed but everyone is different, really you have to follow your body's natural sleep cues and just go with it which is why trying to create your own schedule fucking sucks for a week or so

It most likely is but you're just too much of a junkie like most of us to admit it. It's not just the blue light radiation, our brains are becoming hardwired to associate good feelings with modern technology making us hopeless dependent on them. Something as simple as compass/stargazing navigation would be impossible for most humans today with the latter because we're polluting entire continents with artificial sunlight now.

If you're legit sure it's not the rectangles of artificial sunlight giving you sleeping problems then yeah you might be deficient in vitamin D/B 1-12 or still have too much caffeine in your system. Those are separate neurological problems you should hunt down before you get rickets or some shit.

Sure it isn't the most comfortable thing but your body needs the support and it'll be better for you in the long run.
I'd go with as firm as you can stand, I personally went with a firm with a pillow top so I had a inch or two of give before the spring grid.
Try researching water beds as well since todays bed are essentially a standard mattress with water cooling/heating

I've accounted for everything you mentioned. You may be correct in the sense that there might be some long term adjustment consequences of sleeping late so that even if I fix it temporarily, the body's inclination to fall asleep late will keep me from sleeping properly even if I do fall asleep before midnight. But trying to fix it long term is too much of a hassle. I can't afford countless days of sleepwalking. So in the end it amounts to a natural sleep cycle, whether it's actually natural or not.

The only thing that ultimately ensures you'll get a good sleep is going to bed when you're actually tired, which I guess you are if you stayed up past the usual hour, but don't over do it; if you're nearing a full 24 hour shift, you'll certainly sleep a bit but then wake up sooner and not rested at all, and I've been a NEET longer than you have existed on this earth.

1) Lay head down onto pillow.
2) Fall asleep.
If you have any issues, get up quickly and force yourself to do as many push ups as you can, repeat until sleep.

The best way to change phase is forcing yourself to wake up early. Have your morning coffee outside in the sun. It resets your brain thingy.
