I found this depressing as fuck, but it requires a little context.
Long story short, I had to provide a bunch of bank statements to the government. My online banking only gives the option to export a bank statement as a .csv file, so that's what I did, but the government site will only accept a .pdf file. I didn't want to do a messy conversion, so I simply asked them how they wanted me to proceed.
Pic related is the response I got - instructions on how to convert an image (they have no idea what a .csv is) to a pdf on my phone.

Is it just automatically assumed that everyone uses their phone for everything these days? I'm submitting bank records to a government site ffs not browsing tiktok like a braindead fucking normie.

Daily reminder CSV files are not accepted as proof of anything financial. None of it is official and you can just make one up if you wanted. The point is they want your statements in PDF form, with the bank, etc. all over it. How autistic are you?

If the reality is that the vast majority of people are using their phone for this stuff, then it makes sense that's who the government would provide instructions for. They probably assume anyone who is using a desktop computer rather than an iPhone doesn't need instructions and is tech literate enough to send a pdf. You are the exception, not the rule, and the instructions would be less helpful if it only applied to a small percentage of people.
The idea that sending stuff to the government on your phone is more braindead than using a desktop computer is mostly constructed. A computer is more le seirous or whatever, but using a digital device to send documents is actually the same action no matter what the device is.
