Why do the most feminist countries in Europe have lower age of consent (16 or below) laws than america or most countries with conservative social norms? This is also related to another point RE matriarchy and the "longhouse". Age of consent is a totally arbitrary number that varies from place to place and changes over time in the same place. Acting the age of consent of wherever and whenever you happen to be is an objective moral truth is asinine. Laws are things made by people to better organize and control society, they only occasionally reflect morality.

The fact is the age of consent has always been primarily pushed by older women who fear and despise the competition of younger women for the attention of men. Girls used to be considered women once they were ready to have children. In the past, menarche occurred much later than it does now, around age 16 on average, though nutrition could make it years later or earlier. That's why 16 was commonly held as the age of majority for women. Once she was able to have children and start a family, it made no sense to keep treating her like a child, all it would do is squander the years she would be most attractive as a prospective wife.

Of course these days the onset of menstruation is now typically at 12 years old for girls, so it's totally out of sync with their emotional and mental development, and even the rest of their pubescence. Their bodies haven't even finished growing at that age, so childbirth is very hard on them. 12 is obviously too young to consider a girl a woman, but I see no reason as to why 16 is now unacceptable. It's not a sacred mystery about when a woman is fit for bearing children, it's a physically measurable condition. Ovulation is merely one of several such conditions. Have her hips fully widened? Have her breasts grown in and are capable of lactating? If yes and yes she's physically capable of bearing children and being a mother. Nature has given its stamp of approval.

I’m gonna settle this debate once and for all.

The overwhelming majority of men are sexually attracted to girls as young 14 or so. Trying to argue against this is just cope, statistics demonstrate it over and over. Now, this doesn’t mean that the age of consent should be 14. People are retards at that age and can’t always meaningfully consent to sex. But it’s more of a gray area rather than it always being right or wrong. Can a 14 year old consent to sex with a 16 year old? Yes. Can a 14 year old consent to sex with a 26 year old? No. But you have to draw the line somewhere. So having an age of consent at like 16 with exceptions if their partner was within a couple of years of age is probably the best system to have.

But discussions about this topic are always disingenuously co-opted by actual pedophiles on this site.
