>Be me
>Priest in the year 1000AD
>Loved by my community and family
>Considered the most pious man in the world
>Do everything right according to my religion
>Die with my crying family surrounding me
>Arrive at the Pearly Gates
>Some guy who looks like no one I've ever seen tells me his name is Peter and explains I'm going to a place called Hell to be tortured forever
>I remark on my confusion as to who tf this guy is and where the fuck I am, and explain I did everything right. I sacrificed so many people to the left handed hummingbird to ensure the sun would rise
>Peter explains that's not what I was supposed to do, I was meant to say "thanks for bread" to a single creator every day, and accept that a guy who was nailed to a cross 1,000 years ago, 12,524km away across the uncrossable ocean is my lord.
>What the fuck is this nigga talking about? How could I have known?
>I ask if I can at least tell my family about this
>No. My sons will suffer the same fate, and their sons, and their sons, and their sons, and so on, but about 500 years from now, some people are going to come from a place called Spain, bringing plague, war, rape, murder, ransom and treachery, and my descendants who survive this will be allowed in to heaven because they've been made aware of this
>I ask if the plague and rape and slavery and suffering is what allows us in to heaven?
>Peter says no, it's not even relevant, but the suffering of a desert tribe 2,000 years ago is in fact integral to the religion, but ours doesn't even get a mention
How the fuck does this make sense? Why is no scholarly work even addressing this?

It seems rediculous because it is. Heaven is on earth, the kingdom established by the Son for his people. It is defined by where they are, because they are it. Hell, that is outside the kingdom, where the lost have not yet been found, and where the uncalled will be forever beyond.

Yes, the very idea that heaven and Hillary not upon the earth is heretical nonsense. However, the high heaven, where from only angels may pass, that is a different matter.

God created some people knowing they'd go to hell.

What is the point of specifically picking Catholic Christianity to mock if you're going to use Protestant predestination points?
Wouldn't it make more sense to go like
>those Spanish will also go to hell for worshiping idols
>maybe in 2025 one of your descendants will be lucky enough to find Pastor Jim's true Baptist church in Iowa
You fuckers should decide which brand of Christianity you want to make fun of, not make this Frankenstein version where you're specifically talking about Baptist viewpoints and painting it as Catholicism.

>How the fuck does this make sense? Why is no scholarly work even addressing this?
See, the reason the Catholic Church isn't addressing this is because it's not a Catholic teaching at all. You're just wrong. You made up an argument out of your ass and expect the Church to have anything to say about it. We do believe in Virtuous Pagans, we have plenty of teachings about the fate of non believers. Why is researching so hard for you? Does honesty hurts?

>How could I have known?
As it says in Scripture,

"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
- Luke 11:9-10

"Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."
- John 18:37

Therefore, whoever actually seeks the truth will find Christ. If someone in 1000 AD in any part of the world died without actually earnestly seeking God, which is proven by the fact that they didn't find Christ, it would be entirely, 100% their fault. See the following:

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"
- Romans 1:18-20

If we assume your hypothetical scenario is true, you left out the important fact that this man never even actually tried to find God and never even began to try to understand the truth. Therefore the man from 1000 AD who is like this will rightfully die in his sins due to him rejecting that opportunity.

>How the fuck does this make sense?
See above.
>Why is no scholarly work even addressing this?
It's been discussed plenty and people have given differing opinions on it. But the above is the Biblical perspective, as explained with supporting verses.
