Is it weird that I'm Arab and extremely Americanophile?
I really l really love the US (i didn't get the chance to visit). I love their historical, how they were the only light of secularism, liberty and republicanism in a world that was dominated by theocratic absolute monarchies, I love the american attitude of standing up to those who oppress and occupy you, whenever I read about their war of independence it brings tears to my eyes. It's gotten so weird to the point where It started being noticable by people I interact in the way I talk, because I started saying "in america they do this..", "in america there is that..".

But then again, I'm just a social liberal atheist zillennial in a very religious country so idk.

By the way, Americans dehumanize you behind closed doors.

It's easy to become jaded and cynical when you grow up here, and there's a whole debate about immigrants (which is nothing new) and a contested concept about what "being an American" is or what it means or whatever. But you will run into immigrants here who are full-on true believers in this motherfucker. I knew this guy from Nepal who worked in a shop, and he would wear patriotic merch and I'd ask him "how ya doing" (we don't mean that literally) and he'd say "living the American Dream!" I am not kidding.

If you ever visit D.C., I'd recommend visiting the Jefferson Memorial. If I wanted to show something to someone who wasn't from here, that would be the most important one.

Lineage plays less of a role in your status. There's one side of this debate that everyone deserves a certain kind of respect, anyone can (in theory) reach the highest level (not going into the empirical truth of that). Then there's this idea of the melting pot that people from everywhere come here and become Americans, but they learn to speak English and eat burgers, and some of the pushback from the Tucker Carlsons of this country is they don't want to go to their bank and have to push a button telling the computer that they speak English instead of Spanish. So there is a whole debate about these different concepts.

The thing with American shows and movies (which we don't notice but which can be very attractive to people) is they can do a really good job convincing you that the system was designed from the get-go to work. The lawyer at the end of the courtroom drama gives a speech and it's so logical and convincing and "that's what this country is about" that you almost want to stand up and salute the flag:

I do remember this movie from school. This speech sounded cool, but now that I'm older, I can't see what it's trying to convey. Call it disillusionment but nothing in my head tickles when this dork talks. In fact, it just irritates me more.
If I remember right, this movie is about a real world pornographer that starred underage women and his desperate attempts to escape any and all accountability for his actions. A total subhuman that should be reduced to ashes.
What exactly made you think that I would find it cool that living garbage can hire a whingy voiced wh*te nerd to help them walk away from their crimes?

BTW, I'd also join a Thanksgiving dinner with some Americans when you arrive. Basically the entire country shuts down as families gather for this thing. It's nothing fancy. But I think it's the most distinctly American holiday and my favorite. It's comfy and I think it's good for Americanizing people. There's no gift giving.

Getting a medical degree will make it easier. Immigrants here can have a lot of drive. They also feel that American society has a lot of drive. Fundamentally what I think it's about (the republicanism) is that people have inherent rights that belong to them, and those righs are not bestowed upon them by anybody else. People have heard this a lot but it's worth thinking about what that means.

The anon who said Americans dehumanize you behind closed doors, well some of them do, but this is a big country with a lot of people who do things that set other people's hair on fire. There are other Americans who don't like me or things about me, but I (I'm putting a lot of emphasis on the *I*) don't care. It's not required that you ask others for tolerance as if one's natural rights are subject to some class of people. There's no king to bow or scrape to, and I think all real Americans find the idea of bowing or scraping to someone like that intolerable.

The left has emphasized this whole "you must tolerate me" thing but I don't like this idea because to even expect others to "tolerate" your presence misunderstands the fundamental new type of relationship here -- that this REALLY is different and is an experiment no one ever tried before, and we're going to make it work. You are not "tolerated" here, you have rights and NOBODY can take that away, and you've gotta really believe that and act like that (and in theory be willing to die for it), and all the Constitution requires is that people carry themselves as good citizens and give it their support. Okay, now you're welcome.

Very normal, actually. I grew up in Southeast Michigan where there is a large Arab community, I can tell you that there are two types of Arab who come here, and you are definitely the first type.

The first is a reasonable and balanced figure. Conservative by American standards, liberal by Arab standards. Loves the industriousness and creativity of America, thinks more like the heavily romanticized mid-1800s to early 1900s “noble saracen” archetype that many figures in the West used to speak of. A modern day Emir Abdelkader.

The second is the Arab who does not view himself as an Arab, not as a member of a nation, an ethnicity with a unique identity and particular history and way of life, but rather as a part of a much latger, nondescript cochort known as Dar al Islam. These are Arabs that have come here, but resent America itself and Americans especially. They’re laughing view themselves as people taking advantage of the kindness of Americans, that they view instead as weakness, to come here and reap as much as they can out of the country without ever fully assimilating, ensuring to raise their kids in a fundamentally different identity, but to outwardly claim to be just as American as others.

When you see riots in the streets of Dearborn and people waving Lebanese shia flags wearing all black, that is the hostile Arab. When you see the old man walking around town that looks vaguely Italian, clad in leather jacket and jeans who you can’t tell is Arab until you speak to him and ask his name, that is the assimilated Arab

I don't like America. I think it was always unfortunately a Freemasonic experiment (lots of circumstantial evidence). I agree with Guenon, Evola, Klages, Linkola, and many other anti-modernist critiques of America. However, I absolutely love Germanic / NW Euro communal and rural cultures. I would have liked to emigrate into their countries, but after the Migrant Crisis and their ensuing demographic crises, it makes me feel bad to do so. I view the loss of European racial and ethnic character as more tragic than what's happening to the New World since technically Europeans have lived on their land for over thousands of years.

I'm Persian, and I don't think Iran has much of a future thanks to Jews. Cyrus/Kourosh made a mistake freeing them. I basically don't have a country, yet I refuse to call myself American.

Not surprised an Anti-Traditionalist, materialist Arab would love America. Arabs, Jews, and Americans are all the same in materialistic spirit.

Ofc, there are good American individuals, but they tend to dislike American ethos too after researching it more.

It’s not our fault that you and your schizophrenic philosopher friends fail to understand what the true America is. If you refuse to call yourself an American, you ought to leave. You think that you are somehow better than the mass hordes of consumerist mongrels that have ruined this nation because you look down on them, but in reality, you are no better, because you view that as the real America. You aren’t here to fight for a better America, yo restore the real America, you have decided that this cancer that has infected us IS the real America and therefore do not care what happens to it. If you have more affection for your Persian home, you should do everything in your power to improve it and move there. Iran wasn’t destroyed by Jews, the ugly truth is that it was destroyed by its own rulers who sprouted up from among the people. Americans and Arabs aren’t materialists in the way you’re using that term.

Jews deliberately destabilize the Middle East and then use State Street, which is largely Jew, to flood Europe with unassimilable immigrants. The Jews destroyed Europe too. In fact, one could make the argument Jews were largely responsible for destroying the entire world, especially considering Mao was backed by Jews.

Idiot, I’m not a philosemite. Stop trying to use words that make you sound intelligent that you wouldn’t otherwise use. America does have a high culture, because it is an extension of Europe. You’re just not in it. You’re not into it, you don’t seek it out, you just want it fed to you. In that regard, you’re far more consumerist than you realize, and much more than I am. You’re the materialist. The reason you don’t see high culture on display being shoved in your face in America is the same reason it isn’t in your face in Europe. It’s high culture, it’s not low down. It’s not popular culture and never has been. That’s what you don’t understand. I can go to the orchestra whenever I’d like and go listen to an elegant band perform at the instruction of a composer, or visit a museum of the arts, despite living in “Freemasonic America” as you call it. Newsflash, Freemasonry originated in Europe and had just as much influence in the Northwestern regions you claim to so adore as it did here, and that is why both Northern and Western Europe as well as America became so powerful. Freemasons were men of high class with influence. Scientists, artists, politicians, captains of industry, wealthy aristocrats, philosophers, and so on. In their meetings they formed networks to organize their efforts at advancing society. Freemasonry is not some nefarious super-secret underground Judeo-Satanic-Pedophile cult, it’s just a networking society. You don’t know what you’re talking about you Zagrosian rat, leave my country now, and make sure you head back to your own instead of going to Europe and oppressing them with your condescending lecture about high culture and class when you realize even your average white right-winger couldn’t give a shit about your perceptions of them or the fact that they aren’t all fluent in 5 sciences and masters of 3 different instruments while speaking 7 languages. Do not call me a cretin you monkey

Yes it is Wyrd. Is it weird that I'm a WASP kind of and can only spiritually relate to Hermetic and Sufi concepts? I really *get* Buddhism and Platonism but in my studies Hermeticism and Sufi practices actually moved the bar with Platonic metaphysics, towards (very schizophrenic but legit) material and cultural advances. This is in such a way that is as meaningful as the printing press, the reformation and all that followed. They are both like the undercurrent of esoteric spiritual legitimacy in the west.

Not really, Indians, Somalis, Haitians and others have stolen MENA thunder in this regard. This has been the case since Team America diffused most hatred for middle easterners, total cultural catharsis was achieved and they took it shockingly well. All my e-racist friends have been impartial or even respectful outside of Euro migration.

Also in my travels Saudis and Japanese have the most underrated sense of humor. It's not like Germans where their humor so fucked up that people refuse to get it when it is funny (rare). They are both genuinely funny people, but cultural barriers prevent people from understanding them.

And seething about Arabs migrating to Europe but not Arabs migrating to the US doesn't change anything.
Arabs are really funny people. I like that they arent weird gay faggots like a lot of americans are. I'm pretty sure a bedouin coworker of mine was a pirate. There are plenty. Too many in fact but much could be the same for all groups. We just aren't swarmed with them specifically like Europe. Like I said the focus is almost entirely on Indians at this point, rightfully, with Haitians and others in the background. Arabs integrate far better. Even among Muslims they are no where near as hated as others. Somalis right now are far more hated. They are goddamn retarded freaks uniformly though.

>and there's a whole debate about immigrants (which is nothing new)
last year I went to a big symposium at a historical society in my city about the 100th anniversary of the Johnson-Reed act which created the modern framework of our immigration system where people are presumptively not allowed to immigrate, and only those who fit narrowly defined and limited visa categories can come if they are able to apply for and acquire a visa. Replacing the prior system since the founding where there were essentially open borders, and anyone presumptively could come, unless they fell into certain narrowly defined prohibited categories.

One of the scholars said something that stuck with me, about how people in the US frequently say "our immigration system is broken" but that is something that people have been saying at literally every point in US history, no matter what the immigration laws were. There is no golden age you can go back to where people were actually happy with US immigration laws, which I think is pretty funny.
