Welcome to /CRAB/ (Comics & Random Art Battle) for the forthcoming fourth tournament. “CR4B”, if you will.

>WHAT IS CRAB?
An annual art tournament where (you) enter your Original Character, join a team of other characters, and strive to win it all at #1. The grand prize for your team: One collective wish from the Gamemaster.

>HOW DOES IT WORK?
There are three rounds, the first two of which are unique setting. Traditionally, the third round is a duel between you and another contestant in the bucket. Each round, you will be matched up with another artist of comparable skill level. A prompt will be give to you and your opponent in that setting. Draw a comic, make an animation, do game dev, create something visual with a narrative and hope it beats your opponent through the votes before the round’s deadline. Whoever gets the highest votes, wins the round!

I'll agree that there is circlejerk problems, but the whole "voting on each other," verses a community poll of the general board, is something that needs to be done. If it were completely anonymous, there would be nothing stopping one guy from just samefagging the results he/she would want for the tournament.

If you really want to join but don't to register or tie your name to it, there's always the option to tie your alias to some thread-only moniker.

Worked on some pre-tourney stuff for funsies, just to stretch out and get into the mindset of drawing crabs and building narratives for the actual competition.

First come first serve isn't even that bad. There are however artists here that don't have a pit entry and are being auto-allowed since they were in past tournaments, even though a majority of repeats made a pit entry. IMO that shouldn't be the case.

The reason oldcrabs are grandfathered in is the fact they have already proven themselves that they can complete a tournament and be a decent competitor. Oldcrabs who have flaked for example are obligated to make new Pit entries to prove that they want to dedicate themselves to the tournament.

Besides, the amount of oldcrabs combined with the amount of dropouts is pretty healthy. Ever since CRAB 3, less than 50% of the contestants of a CRAB are oldcrabs. CRAB 2 had the lowest amount of 16.67% of the contestants at the start being oldcrabs, CRAB 3 had 38.3% of the contestants at the start be oldcrabs. CRAB 4 right now has a 46% oldcrab percentage, accounting due to the tournament being smaller to give the new Gamemaster some ease to get used to it.

Plus then you take in account the dropouts:
>CRAB 1: 30.0% (6 of 20)
>CRAB 2: 25.0% (12 of 48)
>CRAB 3: 21.7% (13 of 60)
And you have that roughly 1/4th or 1/5th of the contestants drop out of CRAB. If the trend is the same this tournament, roughly 10-12 benchies would have a good chance to compete in the tournament as well. It's for example quite common that 2-4 contestants decide to drop out before Round 1 starts!

So yeah, we're still learning and improving along the way to ensure everyone has a good chance to join in and bring their fun to the tournament.

I very recently was given information that a crab was going around bragging that they helped rig the GM election. In that same span of time I have had 7 crabs claim to have voted for me in said election.

I did go to the one person with access to the votes for help in clarification on what was going on and was told to pound sand so im officially calling for an audit.

Im calling for G to be given access to the temporary secretary account and the GM votes to be double checked before crab officially begins in July.
