from what I've seen, old /ic/ was conceptcore. Lot more focus on being able to fit into industry pipeline as that was the way to make it back then. The market's changed and the way to make it is anime lewds. Developing a unique style / trad will probably be the next zeitgeist in response to AI in the coming years.

That's why I made this thread when I found that pic.

You can turn your hand so that it's hidden behind your wrist and arm. Doesn't mean that the resulting rounded stump is something you should include in your art. Some parts of reality just look like shit in ways that no one cares to see.

Yeah a lot of artists do not realize that they're not copying reality one for one, they're simplifying reality to make aesthetic pictures. Even in Academic art they tend to play down certain features or add structure where there isn't any.

On an unrelated note this thread reminds me when that FireZ guy drew some woman from the back and an anon told him that her back looked too long so he showed the ref of the long back model. I didn't say anything back then but it still made his art look shitty.

Other art. Random photos I find while browsing. My references folder has over 2000 files in it and is 27 gigs.
Some stuff is literally impossible to see irl without getting mindbendingly-creative so you have to reference other art. Other stuff is quite literally random as fuck like VHS covers or how picrel uses a gorilla.

I also save other artists' YCH poses for my own purposes if I like them. It's free real estate.

Years ago a hentai artist I like wrote that he does this from what I could translate of his page. He cited something about how JAV videos have better camera angles than photographs for making erotic art because the cameramen aren't afraid of getting into weird positions to maximize the erotic appeal. Apparently at one point in japan you could buy photobooks of erotic photos with similar camera angles too.

I don't really watch or enjoy 3dpd porn so I don't really do this myself though.

But both SFW and NSFW artists take screens from non-porn movies and shows for reference. I do do this at times.

Kind of but not exactly hormonal, it has to do with the ulna. The ulna has a hook shape that juts against the humerus.
