I'm using a middle size screenless tablet. I think a big sized tablet can be cumbersome, and a small tablet just unusable. A middle size is the perfect one to have. And I use screenless because it's convenient to toggle between several screens do other stuff, and come back to drawing at any moment.

But I'm more interested in the sadomasochism imposed by People in power, like religious, political and corporation leaders, they hate sex because it goes again their dehumanizing tools. For them an slave, an asset, a beast for labor, shouldn't have a sexual life, because "human cattle" shouldn't be seen as something to be loved, they need to de-sex society. You can't throw bombs on a population full of beautiful creatures you can fall in love with. You can't whip to death a human being that can be seen as a sexual desirable partner. And yet, humans are forced to do all of those horrible things towards their loved ones, through out history, how?
I'm interested in that brutal and intense dichotomy. It's nothing new, it's a common genre, like those novels from the 19th century of irish ladies exiled into slavery to the american colony as punishment for petty crimes, that evolved into cavalry tales like King Arthur or Ivanhoe, then in crime noir, then in 50shades, and slasher films, and so on. It was always there, because sex naturally works like that, it's tragic, it's dramatic, it's intense, it is about life and death.
I'm just still hooked in Gene Wolfe's book, lol. Thecla wanted to choose how to be tortured and it was denied to her. That book is a cesspit of degeneration but no one cancelled Gene Wolfe, no one cancelled Harlan Ellison, Stephen Donaldson, George Bataille, etc because people reckon what the nature of "SEX" implies.
The first "romantic novel" was a tragic tale, a man ordered to execute a beautiful woman he found out he suddenly loved. That's a real love story. The rest is all boring.

you need a clear goal to work towards. if you have a clear vision of what you want to make, then you can tell what is lacking. put your art side by side to the type of art you want to make and see how it stacks up. study the stuff that's wrong and apply it your pieces. that pic is a bit sloppy, the right shoulder for example is unfinished, hinting that your process is sloppy too. break the process down into clear stages so errors like that don't happen. you're probably going too fast. polish a piece to the best of your ability to test your true skills. you might be surprised with the result if you put 100% effort into a piece.

here's my progress thro the first day without prior knowledge of drawing. Basically started with 0 understanding about the skull shape, no loomis/etc, no technics on how to draw, what the face proportions are - just trying to copy manga I've been reading for the past few days.
And the second picture is, yet again, a friend of mine after I bingewatched like 5-6 hours of youtube tutorials of what the human skull/proportions look like and it felt gratifying to see such immense progress in a single day, not even.

I understand how it might feel drawing for a couple of years and feeling stagnation and your own art becoming stale at some point, but this would be the sign to start learning something new for me. Try maybe animal anatomy, fuck it, just for the sake of it. Even if you are not interested in drawing animals, it's always better to try something out rather than being in this cycle of not wanting to draw because you feel like it's not giving you satisfaction like it used to.

Like a sketching stage, refining the sketch stage, lineart stage, flat colors stage, blocking in the shadow stage, detailing stage etc. The specifics would depend on your style and workflow. At each stage you need to check for errors, take quick break so you can come back and look at it with fresh eyes. It's easier when you break it down into stages so you have a very specific goal to work on at each stage and you don't get bogged down by stuff the comes later on, like trying to draw details when the proportions are still off. You can diagnose problems easier and focus on training something the comes up during a specific stage. Maybe your lineart sucks, but that's because your sketch is too messy, so then you spend more time refining the sketch before moving onto the lineart stage. Your workflow and process is something the develops over time so it's normal for it to be a bit all over the place, especially if you studied from different courses and styles. Hopefully now after drawing for a while you now know what you like and don't like so you have clear vision for what it's meant to look like at each stage.

you could also just download some artbooks and look through them and try and copy whatever the style is. Her features are too far apart and her face is way too long. She literally has a rectangle as a face.
It can be difficult to give her a nose even when anime styles completely ignore them but you can add a tiny shadow to imply it being there.
Her eyes are also not looking to the same place. I tried making HER right eye longer to the left and gave her more sclera but I think now I made the eye bigger than the toher one.

Nice timing since, I am actually watching Ryan Lang's course for Light and Color and this is basically what sinix has in his video?
From the 1st week study he is introducing different value structures and says that HIGH CONTRAST(only 2 values) is mainly used to boost intensity in the artwork and/or creating a tense moment in the scene?
Trying to limit your values to basically 2 high contrast and building from that is really hard, for me at least.

I removed hue from your image and there're 6 main values I can find and generally it's good, but maybe trying to go for 5-4 or even less is gonna be a good study as well.

First he paints with values and then he colors on top of it using curves. I guess this is one way to put accent to think of painting with values since it will likely feel more organic(?) and not just colors you may pick randomly, which could result in blownout values at the end

Yes, it really does come from years of experimentation and practice. What you’re referring to is a visual library - your ability to ‘pull’ things from your mind, after numerous times by redrawing/visualizing it. And I’m not even talking about the object itself, but how the lines feel, the patterns you associate (I.e. short lines means foreshortening, long lines mean pulling back), and all the other small impressions that occur when you think about how to depict something. If you have a particular image that was striking, it’s most likely because something about it was very interesting in its shape language, lighting, angle, etc. that made recalling it easier. Or, the image connected you from an emotional sense like your mood or preferences. In short, reliance on references is fundamental for imprinting. Regardless of how good your mental imagery is, you literally cannot draw something that you do not remember. However, if you feel like you rely too much on references, there is no other solution than to push through and draw purely on imagination even if your image recall is crap. You can only fix something that exists.

For what it’s worth, you might be better than you think if you work on it. Most people don’t push themselves, so they never really know. I’d recommend you to try to just create forms and manipulate them without any guidance.

He's a womanizer and sexually deviant, as well as extremely manipulative and abusive. His route is more of an intense passionate toxic romance that gets to the more fantastical parts of mecha as it progresses.
General themes running through the stories will likely revolve around humanity and it's future or stagnation, posthumanism vs transhumanism vs humanism, what is the self and consciousness, various cognitive philosophy things, is humanity stuck repeating the same stories ad infinitum regardless of the trappings of any era or is it possible for new things to happen and if so should they? I haven't settled completely on the themes and am still in the beginning stages of writing

Then I roughly estimate the scale on paper and transfer the base that I copied in krita.

It depends on how you develop your forms and their proportions. Imagine yourself touching a bone that you're drawing. If, for some reason, it feels like you're grabbing a balloon animal rather than a hard surface, it probably looks too inflated.

A more technical explanation is proportion. You need to check the line's angles and lengths. If you measure by eye sockets, then you know your cheekbone can't be the same width and height as the sockets. What fundies are you trying to do? My advice would be to isolate one to work on, do a really quick skim through of a book or tutorial that covers it, and then draw whatever you want while trying to apply that. Whenever you encounter problems look for more info about the fundie then go back to drawing. You'll learn it slower but you're less likely to burn out.
While pure grinding might be more efficient if you can't mentally handle it, there's no point in trying again and again. It's better to learn at a slower pace than not at all.
