I'm using a middle size screenless tablet. I think a big sized tablet can be cumbersome, and a small tablet just unusable. A middle size is the perfect one to have. And I use screenless because it's convenient to toggle between several screens do other stuff, and come back to drawing at any moment.

>>7673350SEX is degenerate by nature. The goal is to enter, to impose, to subdue, that's the nature of sex in the animal realm. And women are in charge to set the limits on that "natural rape" dynamic in our species. That's a thing, and it is interesting
But I'm more interested in the sadomasochism imposed by People in power, like religious, political and corporation leaders, they hate sex because it goes again their dehumanizing tools. For them an slave, an asset, a beast for labor, shouldn't have a sexual life, because "human cattle" shouldn't be seen as something to be loved, they need to de-sex society. You can't throw bombs on a population full of beautiful creatures you can fall in love with. You can't whip to death a human being that can be seen as a sexual desirable partner. And yet, humans are forced to do all of those horrible things towards their loved ones, through out history, how?
I'm interested in that brutal and intense dichotomy. It's nothing new, it's a common genre, like those novels from the 19th century of irish ladies exiled into slavery to the american colony as punishment for petty crimes, that evolved into cavalry tales like King Arthur or Ivanhoe, then in crime noir, then in 50shades, and slasher films, and so on. It was always there, because sex naturally works like that, it's tragic, it's dramatic, it's intense, it is about life and death.
I'm just still hooked in Gene Wolfe's book, lol. Thecla wanted to choose how to be tortured and it was denied to her. That book is a cesspit of degeneration but no one cancelled Gene Wolfe, no one cancelled Harlan Ellison, Stephen Donaldson, George Bataille, etc because people reckon what the nature of "SEX" implies.
The first "romantic novel" was a tragic tale, a man ordered to execute a beautiful woman he found out he suddenly loved. That's a real love story. The rest is all boring.

>>7673398have you tried doing any other styles? are you going to art school or no? have you tried doing any courses that might interest you like storyboarding/learning anatomy/etc? I feel like there's plenty of room for improvement in this sense. I think by changing your style you can try different proportions of the character that might lead you to learn how the body looks in more exaggereted ways? Maybe try caricature?
>>7673398if you dont know where to start just try picking up ANY course at this point, doing anything is better than nothing. please post more of your work
>>7673398you need a clear goal to work towards. if you have a clear vision of what you want to make, then you can tell what is lacking. put your art side by side to the type of art you want to make and see how it stacks up. study the stuff that's wrong and apply it your pieces. that pic is a bit sloppy, the right shoulder for example is unfinished, hinting that your process is sloppy too. break the process down into clear stages so errors like that don't happen. you're probably going too fast. polish a piece to the best of your ability to test your true skills. you might be surprised with the result if you put 100% effort into a piece.
>>7673408>have you tried doing any other styles?Once, last year.
>are you going to art school or no?Nope.
>have you tried doing any courses that might interest you like storyboarding/learning anatomy/etc? I've tried doing a course before but felt like I learned nothing. But maybe focusing on exaggeration and caricatures will be the next thing, instead of continuing to draw oddly realistic anime girls.
>>7673415I'll try courses, thanks. I close out of krita before I get the chance to save anything so I don't have anything worthwhile to show, gomen.
>>7673417What do you mean by clear stages?
And I'll try my best. I have a good idea for a drawing I've been wanting to make for awhile but never cared much to make it.
>>7673418It doesn't....
I find it pretty hard to maintain a flow for art without getting tunnel vision and making it look like shit as a result. I think I've accepted I will never be Japanese and thus will never make the anime art that I crave. My genes dictate that I will follow courses and make cartoon-y stuff from now on.
>>7673430I am just starting out myself, so I probably have more motivation since it's only the beginning. Here's my recent process of trying to study anatomy and this course is already mogging me. Using notes app/writing like in school is the key at least for me. I feel like this approach is probably the best for me, not sure if you are gonna get the same hype as myself
>>7673405That's really good anon, I'd easily buy it as a valentine's card or something.
>>7673435here's my progress thro the first day without prior knowledge of drawing. Basically started with 0 understanding about the skull shape, no loomis/etc, no technics on how to draw, what the face proportions are - just trying to copy manga I've been reading for the past few days.
And the second picture is, yet again, a friend of mine after I bingewatched like 5-6 hours of youtube tutorials of what the human skull/proportions look like and it felt gratifying to see such immense progress in a single day, not even.
I understand how it might feel drawing for a couple of years and feeling stagnation and your own art becoming stale at some point, but this would be the sign to start learning something new for me. Try maybe animal anatomy, fuck it, just for the sake of it. Even if you are not interested in drawing animals, it's always better to try something out rather than being in this cycle of not wanting to draw because you feel like it's not giving you satisfaction like it used to.
>>7673430>What do you mean by clear stages?Like a sketching stage, refining the sketch stage, lineart stage, flat colors stage, blocking in the shadow stage, detailing stage etc. The specifics would depend on your style and workflow. At each stage you need to check for errors, take quick break so you can come back and look at it with fresh eyes. It's easier when you break it down into stages so you have a very specific goal to work on at each stage and you don't get bogged down by stuff the comes later on, like trying to draw details when the proportions are still off. You can diagnose problems easier and focus on training something the comes up during a specific stage. Maybe your lineart sucks, but that's because your sketch is too messy, so then you spend more time refining the sketch before moving onto the lineart stage. Your workflow and process is something the develops over time so it's normal for it to be a bit all over the place, especially if you studied from different courses and styles. Hopefully now after drawing for a while you now know what you like and don't like so you have clear vision for what it's meant to look like at each stage.
>>7673442but that's just probably how I am. I hate the feeling of being unsatisfied with myself to the point I am trying to get better at ANYTHING in life probably to prove that I am worth something.
you could also just download some artbooks and look through them and try and copy whatever the style is. I know you might feel frustrated that it might not look like the original drawing, but that's the point where you should ask yourself if you want to get to that point where it looks exactly like the original art and maybe expand adding your own bit of spice.
>>7673365this is the same girl with same reference I had in my mind, but this style is my own, more realistic I would say
I hope my larping could give you some motivation to continue your studies in art, get better and finally feel satisfied with your own work again

>>7673406Rape is an biological evolutionary strategy. But not for females, not for humans anymore. With abortions, state laws and the illusion of rights, rape is no longer worth the effort. Or at the very least, the cost now outweighs the reward. Your fantasy is rooted in biology. It could become reality again, if women simply gave up their rights. You are wrong about why the ones in power act so prudish. It's not about morality or farming. It's history, and most people never learn from history. At the end of every empire, men and women become confused about sex. Women turn promiscuous, hypersexual, they demand more power, throw gold at degenerates, fund debauchery and coom, and eventually, they even start arguing over the nature of sex itself. Gender war, gender parity, feminism, mere symptoms of the power hungry woman. In the final days of Byzantine empire, they argued over the sex of angels in the bible, right before the Islamic caliphate came and beheaded them, before they fall to the rule of the Ottoman empire. Women lack discipline at the end times, but I blame the men, the weak men in power. Every time the world collapses, a new patriarchy rises from the ashes and overcorrects. They put women back in their rightful place. That's the cycle and we're almost there again.
The idea of leaving the sketch behind with perhaps a bit less luminosity and cleaned is tempting, but a crutch if I ever want the lineart to stand beautifully by itself a la Ludwig Richer or Kamome Shirahama

>>7673471would you like to share your previous works?
Nice timing since, I am actually watching Ryan Lang's course for Light and Color and this is basically what sinix has in his video?
From the 1st week study he is introducing different value structures and says that HIGH CONTRAST(only 2 values) is mainly used to boost intensity in the artwork and/or creating a tense moment in the scene?
Trying to limit your values to basically 2 high contrast and building from that is really hard, for me at least.
I removed hue from your image and there're 6 main values I can find and generally it's good, but maybe trying to go for 5-4 or even less is gonna be a good study as well.
Basing just by values it's good imo
In this drawing
>>7673365 what I did is basically trying to limit my values to only 4 which are

2. Base color
3. Shadow base
4. Darker Shadow

>would you like to share your previous works?I don't paint a lot,I usually do the normal line-art into shading, these are from a couple of months ago, what happened is that I watched some good artists paint on top of a sketch, then I go and try that and it ends up completely fucked.

Also WLOP is a great example, most defnitely heard of him or seen his speedpaints.

when people say talent, dont they mean intelligence? same with lets say sports. its ypur body and frame that are important? depending on the sport, ypur constitution is import. sumos are fat, basketball players are large, foosball players are quick and slender etc. the rest is just hard work
>>7673559evocative, like a childrens fairy tale
>>7673575your mind is many times more flexible than your body. plenty of people probably have small or large mental advantages, but we can't really know of them with certainty for now so it doesn't matter. besides, drawing is far removed from any tasks our brains were naturally meant to solve which further reduces the relevancy of variation. some people are born with better typing hands than others but it's not something that natural selection has optimized for at any moment and thus the extent of discernible natural differences is mostly "do you have hands"
>>7673575Talent is your natural aptitude for a certain test, intelligence of course is useful for someone who is otherwise untalented because it allows you to identify mistakes and ways to avoid them, but conceptually at least is different from talent (which by the way exists in art and in pretty much any activity as well, some of us have to work harder than people with that natural aptitude).
>>7673584>>7673582very insightful, thanks /beg/gar bros
>>7673575my #1 theory that keeps on being proven by statistic is that how good you are at drawing on a base level comes from how many first-person shooters you play and that's why women take longer to get good at art even if they end up better in the end
>>7673589lol. i mean. logically, despite your jocular intent, those fps kiddies, and i used to be one of them till i recognized how futile and stupid it was, those take a lot of attention and focus, which is very important for art, no? like when we joke how all the adhd and adderall kiddies just top the ranks no problem next to the cheaters. i dont use drugs besides coffee and sugar, but i could see them enhacing the process enormously, especially in the motivation department, but i'm digressing.
if these shooter kiddies werent wasting their efforts on something so stupid, they could do great things. a shame really, but its not like anyone is.... holding a gun to their head! hah!

>>7673575There are people with good visual imagery; they can easily rotate objects, imagine how things interlock, and have fantastic motor-mental coordination. Despite this, they are poor at mathematical spatial reasoning. For example, they wouldnโt be able to create numerical grids, transform planes under structured rules, or conceptualize revolving vectors. We loosely categorize all domains of mental imagery as โspatial,โ but there are very different methods of how people analyze objects in their minds. Itโs not intelligence; find the right way to learn that adapts to how you think. >>7673398She's got crazy traps
>>7673625Yes, it really does come from years of experimentation and practice. What youโre referring to is a visual library - your ability to โpullโ things from your mind, after numerous times by redrawing/visualizing it. And Iโm not even talking about the object itself, but how the lines feel, the patterns you associate (I.e. short lines means foreshortening, long lines mean pulling back), and all the other small impressions that occur when you think about how to depict something. If you have a particular image that was striking, itโs most likely because something about it was very interesting in its shape language, lighting, angle, etc. that made recalling it easier. Or, the image connected you from an emotional sense like your mood or preferences. In short, reliance on references is fundamental for imprinting. Regardless of how good your mental imagery is, you literally cannot draw something that you do not remember. However, if you feel like you rely too much on references, there is no other solution than to push through and draw purely on imagination even if your image recall is crap. You can only fix something that exists.
For what itโs worth, you might be better than you think if you work on it. Most people donโt push themselves, so they never really know. Iโd recommend you to try to just create forms and manipulate them without any guidance.
>>7673675>Iโd recommend you to try to just create forms and manipulate them without any guidance.alright. so far i drew stuff from reference and then tried to draw it again from memory with varying results, but usually it comes out pretty good as long as its fresh. even doing it again next day is okay. thanks for the insight, really helps a lot.

>>7673785long story short it's a visual novel about a mecha engineer who is drafted to serve in the military because his father was a war hero, and he ends up working helping a four man team of pilots and he can choose one of the four to partner with. from there, each pilot has a romance story to varying degrees of success.
a little more in depth, the first pilot is a sociable carpe diem explosives specialist. his romance path is more about the protagonist learning to come out of his shell and experience life rather than retreat into the comfort of escapism. The second pilot is at first glance an ideal and noble soldier with strong ideals, who ends up being a convincing narcissist who doesn't have any interest in the protagonist but encourages him anyway to feed his ego. Third pilot is a gruff misanthropic recluse who, while actually quite intelligent, is tough to get along with and his romance is about him and the protagonist finding the right give and take and that they can care for each other the way nobody else has in their lives. He dies during his route and the protagonist commits suicide. The last pilot is the commander of the group, and a friend of the protagonist's father. He's a womanizer and sexually deviant, as well as extremely manipulative and abusive. His route is more of an intense passionate toxic romance that gets to the more fantastical parts of mecha as it progresses.
General themes running through the stories will likely revolve around humanity and it's future or stagnation, posthumanism vs transhumanism vs humanism, what is the self and consciousness, various cognitive philosophy things, is humanity stuck repeating the same stories ad infinitum regardless of the trappings of any era or is it possible for new things to happen and if so should they? I haven't settled completely on the themes and am still in the beginning stages of writing
my ambition far outweighs my ability, at least w art
>>76738102nd quick challenge
>>7673465I loved to read your thoughts. Though, there is a difference between what you wrote and my comment. You express yourself in absolute affirmative terms, and I admit to be in a thoughtful exploration on this topic. I believe we are right now living in that brutal world you think "is coming back". It's already here, and yes it could get worse, and yes, as I point out, we are still, the same humans being subjected to those systemic forces of evil, the same evil from centuries or thousands of years ago. And the love for a woman is the only thing that stands against men becoming real unholy demons of hell.
(off topic -The fall of Constantinople, was an evil plan concocted in Venice to destroy the western christian order and authority. The dark ages came after that, and Venice (Black Nobility) took a hold of the vatican and the whole christian world up to this day. that's what I heard lol)
>>7673529>Rape is just greed and lack of restraint, that's all it's ever been.Exactly, but in the case of human beings there's an extra element wich is "love" in its most emotional and illogical expression. And those elements all mixed together becomes a very intense and powerful thing to dive into artistically.
Like in my "fantasies" law is above all, if they want to have sex with the woman in custody there must be legal forms to sign and bureaucracy to follow. The real world works like that already and it can be as sickening as much as interesting to analyze and to parody.

I came to the realization that I almost exclusively draw "down" and never draw a line going up in all of my drawings
is this normal, or is drawing lines going up normal?
>>7674439It depends on how you develop your forms and their proportions. Imagine yourself touching a bone that you're drawing. If, for some reason, it feels like you're grabbing a balloon animal rather than a hard surface, it probably looks too inflated.
A more technical explanation is proportion. You need to check the line's angles and lengths. If you measure by eye sockets, then you know your cheekbone can't be the same width and height as the sockets. The cheekbone needs to have a height that's half of the sockets, but a longer width because it's pulled back. Another problem is the inconsistency in volume; some parts of your forms can look very three-dimensional, but that only emphasizes the completely flat parts. Therefore, it seems more inflated. The only solution is to work on your accuracy.

how to draw toes
>>7674657cool
>>7674658AI is very consistent that's why you can get multiple pictures of the same style. In fact, AI likes to overdetail and repetitive patterns, it can't draw, it can only clonestamp yes, clonestamp is what AI is. Which means patterns or specific style can be cloned. I feels that drawing is repetitive, even the mistakes are repetitive. Because I do ink and traditional too, and when I see repetitive mistakes for 6 times in a row, it is either the artist is imitating mistakes or AI is cloning. I am leaning to AI. Let me guess AI modified? You added some lines to trick people? If so, good job.

>>7674670What fundies are you trying to do? My advice would be to isolate one to work on, do a really quick skim through of a book or tutorial that covers it, and then draw whatever you want while trying to apply that. Whenever you encounter problems look for more info about the fundie then go back to drawing. You'll learn it slower but you're less likely to burn out.
While pure grinding might be more efficient if you can't mentally handle it, there's no point in trying again and again. It's better to learn at a slower pace than not at all.

>>7674918the collar is only hard because you didnt learn it from reference. theyre actually like the most basic shape ever. hands and feet are hard, because theyre so complicated. collars are easy. just look up a perspective, draw that, then redraw it from memory to fit your piece. this is how you grow effectively. studying and using the study. its basic logic.
how do I make my arms healthier so I can draw for longer
>>7674925Weightlifting, do Starting Strength.
>>7674913I drew a lot in middle school and liked to just copy motives from these collectable star wars cards. Never drew from imagination, just copy. Did that for like 3 years or so. Between then and now there was a multiple years long break, but I guess all together 6/7 years. Still hard to say, I doodled a lot in elementary school, don't know if that also counts, but it was nothing worth mentioning.
