I'm pretty proud of the hands, which took 75% of the time, but I hate the face and don't know why, just looks wrong. Please help, and just provide any tips or anything really (aside from what's in OP ofc) Also, I'd really appreciate if you can point out what details you can actually discern; I wanna know if I was able to properly convey what I was envisioning or if it's just getting muddled. >>7678087The first one sucked so much that I felt like i didnt "learn" unless i corrected my mistakes and did it well.
>>7678067>because i can skip stuffyeah basically, eventually you wanna learn how the clothes should look like, but knowing how the actual body underneath should be drawn is a building block for that, the cloak is bulky so it's gonna be a "hide hands behind the body" type of crutch unlike more skintight clothes like a regular shirt f.e.

drawing still life helped me draw faster. That and if you catch yourself focusing too hard on a specific section of the drawing, move on to a random different part of it.
>>7678149>>7678147I was unironically counting on this for some extra money. I'll really have to get another job then... fuuuuuckkk I don't want tooo
tried drawing a bloodborne sho, I think he turned out cute. it was really tough doing the outfit, I had a ref for the pose and the outfit both separately, but I'm not sure if I got the turned perspective right or did it particularly well
that and the fabric folds were driving me crazy
I think the best part is the fabric fold in the left elbow lol I know that's a really specific part but it looks organic imo
his right arm looks too long and maybe his torso is straight compared to relatively mobile legs
the sway of the longer robes was really challenging bc the reference didn't really have anything like it, and the ref was a still reference so I cost to just wing it rather than trying to spend ages finding another reference but I think it looks moderately alright
>>7678142for me it's an acquired taste
>>7678155Lmao itโs sad how many people want to draw for extra money. You live in a time where free ai like Stable Diffusion can be easily used by anyone with a frontal lobe, patience and google gemini to help set it up.
Draw for the passion or nothing else.
>>7678157adorbs .. wish i could play bloodborne
>>7678153Good numbers if sfw
>>7678155anon you dont really seem to have like a stylistic flair (yet!) and in this day and age (ai) no one is going to be buying art from someone who doesn't have an appealing art style like its not technical skill, there are other people doing comms below your level but its yknow, charisma, their reach, pure luck...etc.
>>7678160I bought a used PS4 years ago just to play bloodborne and honestly it was definitely worth it, but only bc it scratched an itch nothing else did
I sucked at it too when I started, iirc I died to gascoigne like at least 40 times if not 60+, and istg by the time I made it to the orphan (which was after multiple new games and new game pluses and builds for each weapon type), I killed him on the first try somehow
I'm too scared to fight him again bc I know I won't be able to do it again lol but yeh, if I could improve at bloodborne like that then drawing is possible I think
>>7678163if you gain an appealing style that can be easily replicated by ai and you make over 200 pieces of art, you will be replaced by ai.
Unless you appeal to niches. even then, you will be replaced eventually.
Ai has trouble replicating some cartoon styles though.
>>7678164I couldnโt make it past the undead burg area with the charging boar and getting to the bonfire behind the gate on dark souls 1. I donโt think i could even play bloodborne if i owned it ..

>>7678176Sometimes, things in life donโt go as planned, brother. Art is a craft, not something like plumbing or engineering that you can will yourself into learning and mastering with a โplanโ and rake in money from.

>>7678463Simple styles like made in the abyss are deceptively so and there's not a lot of wiggle room for mistakes. For the critique of the drawing Try making the arms more like cylinders and upping your accuracy when drawing.
What I would do if I were at your skill level and just wanted a better drawing of Reg, I would first trace the artwork making notes of why the artist chose the lines they did, then I would draw it again (You'll most likely see improvement) using those notes. When tracing keep it simple don't ad extra details like the shadow shapes because it can confuse you and if anything you can use the tracing as a simplified reference to align things and get proportions correctly.

You guys are larping so hard, niggers know nobody cares.
>>7678613Realistically the people on here aren't here for art advice, they're here for friends and community. No one wants to draw so they're putting on a little art play because they're bored and lonely.
>>7678613this post is a psyop distraction to prevent the release of the doc
>>7678586Your drawing mostly reads flat. The couch is kinda decent but everything else is skewed. You probably can't draw a box properly in perspective yet. Your figure is also very stiff and floaty. That right left arm isn't even connected to anything. I suggest doing gesture studies drawing from life to loosen you up, and then find some resources to help you understand and feel form. You probably aren't able to see the paper as 3D space yet.
>>7678607I mean, depends on what you qualify as a reference?
I was just laying down so I just imagined what I'd look like from the back with a different pose for the legs and arms and drew that and drew a new room from imagination around it. Didn't copy or observe but I feel that you can sort of "feel" what pose you're in without observing with your eye.
>>7678611But that lower left was also AI ref. So it wasn't just one time. To claim you never did it again is just not true. I don't really know what to think here
>>7678622both were saved from pinteres, and there's nothing there that says it's AI, there's normal art and AI art mixed when you click it, i'm being honest when i say i didn't know

>>7678665Yeah sorry I had a brain malfunction while writing that. The left arm feels floaty because there's no indication of the shoulder moving with it, influencing a lot of the other muscle forms along with it as well. It basically feels like it's not attached to the body because of this, but honestly this isn't a problem you should be thinking about yet since it's more important that you loosen up first by drawing from life and building up your understanding of 3D space and forms which would help a lot when you're finally ready to tackle the more complicated stuff.

>>7678858Don't worry about it. If you do something from imagination some fag will do Image to Gen and make an AI version of it to create some fake drama. Get it? Nothing matters anymore. Just do your thing. Let the crabs seethe.
>>7678858If you're using ref for stylization, know who you're trying to copy. If you're trying to improve, draw from life. Though, if you're just trying to copy someone's style might as well use AI.
>>7678820How do I study exactly? Do I just copy study subject from references? If so, how exactly do I copy? I tried copying some stuff but I couldn't get it right since right from the start my shapes were wrong no matter what I did

>>7678878trace hd manga pages
it worked for me
>>7678882they will also cancel you if you "reference" real drawings so hard that they're traces with headswaps
Ai or not doesnt matter, people have been cancelled for tracing/photobashing over a decade ago
The real move is to just ignore it if you want to trace, if it's pretty and shiny people will click on it, moralfags always lose
>>7678867You might just be tracing the contours. Start with gesture to get the flow, build simple forms to give it structure, then refine. Use negative space and check angles instead of blindly copying outlines. Compare proportions, use plumb lines, flip the canvas. Whatever helps you see better. If your shapes are off, it's because you're not actually seeing, you're just guessing. Apply these to your personal works and review to see what stuck and what you need to be working on.

Later on you could do a basic blender course, 3D would help speed things up, specially in the game art pipeline. Then some the more specific 2D/3D stylized environment courses. CGMA has a bunch of them and curriculums you can follow. You could follow one of their tracks exactly if you don't mind paying or just pirate similar courses as substitutes.

>>7679257>Shut upIt's a compliment.
what does rat or crab mean anyway? its not really talent, just dedication after not doing anything with it since i was a wee lad. if anything, i'm late to the party as 30+ faggot. i hope all you younger guys take it to the heart more than my stupid ass, because you wont regret it the earlier you start. just keep drawing.
>>7679249This is really good anon, are you using a charcoal pencil to create this or just a soft (8, 9b?) graphite pencil?
>>7679258No it's not. You're denigrating their hard work and effort so you can keep attention seeking with your stupid self depravation.
>"mogs me">"you're a talented rat">someone posted their art? Let me make it about meKys
>>76792626B graphite here. its my favorite. presketching very tenderly with an H, just to get the sizes somewhat right and since its on paper, i cant just extend the canvas. i still made a small mistake with the foot as you can see, the cheap papier i used decided the hole should be exactly there, serving as censoring device for the footcoomers. heh.
Is it counterproductive to draw what you actually want even before attaining fundies? I feel like doing constant studies is a surefire way to burnout but at the same time I don't want to reinforce bad habits.
>>7678232I can't draw anything since I found out that talented kids who started drawing in 2019, the same time I started drawing "digitally", are already many times better than me. They are 19 now, I am already 27, they have been drawing for 5 years, I have been drawing for 20 years, they can draw whatever they want, I can only draw trash.
>>7679245Yeah that's the kind of advice people only really accept after they suffer for their hubris enough times lol. I've certainly been there enough times myself.
This one looks a lot more spider like so the insect, or I guess arachnid motif comes through a lot stronger than the other designs. This is a different direction entirely but rapiers have those weird filigree kind of hilts. Something like that but with insect legs could be cool.
>>7679248There's a time and place for both anon, try and be more open minded.
>>7679266what? not at all! you should always do what you want AND study. in tandem works best, do a little training and warm ups and then attack a piece you would like to make, and its even better if theyre related, so you can use what you learned earlier, serving as training AND artpiece at the same time

>>7679541Thanks anon, means a lot.
>First time drawingYes, in the sense that it's the first time I've gone out and gotten specific supplies for this, set aside time, and worked on a drawing to the best of my abilities. I've obviously doodles stick figures and whatnot, and tried drawing Goku all the time way back in like 2000 lol, but never did anything more than that.
>BleachI'm a big fan of Bleach's aesthetic, so that's very encouraging, but I didn't base the character off of anyone, so I dunno! Maybe I'm just subconsciously drawing from it since I like it?
>Same uncanny problemI know this probably won't mean much from someone at my skill level, but I don't see what you're referring to in your picrel. Looks WAY better than any face I can draw and I wish mine looked like that.
>>7680622>which seems crazy long for something so lacking in detailthats perfectly fine, take however long you need in the beginning and obviously if youre practising shapes, its fine to use a reference. building stuff on your own comes later. silly anons here forego the basic practice and want to skip the essentials so they can just draw their titgirls. keep on copying other stuff, poses, artstyles, hands, objects, cars, buildings etc. the first and foremost important skill is to copy something somewhat right, the rest comes later, or rather in tandem. like how long limbs are compared to each other, how big the head should be, where the eyes are placed compared to the ears, where the neck starts, and thats just for humanoids. its a long road, so make sure to take your time. no need to rush things and overexert yourself or even burn out. keep on keeping on
>>7680622Grab a bunch of reference packs, cram them in an app that flips through the images after set intervals and just draw a lot at this point anon, then perhaps grab the ones you like the most and finish a couple of drawing from them
its completely insane how normies can't tell technical skill at all because whenever I show my art to normal people they just praise me and talk about how talented I am even when I suck and don't know what I'm doing and endlessly push me and ask me why I don't go into the industry
the answer is because I suck
they just can't tell
>>7680622Okay, ended up with a bit more time and decided to try a face since they give me such a hard time. I'm actually surprisingly happy with it despite the uncanny feel; any tips on what's making it feel that way? Is it clear what gender the character has? I did this with no reference, so that's probably why it feels... alien?
>>7680632Will do anon, thanks. That said, I think I went against literally all your advice just now with picrel lol, but I'm just excited. I'll assemble a kind of "study course" to follow and try to progress in a structured way.
>>7680633Oh shit, good idea. Pack/app suggestions? Also, you just stop drawing one when the next one comes up? How long do you set the interval for? Sounds anxiety inducing, but probably gets the job done.
>>7680662i wonder if other people just see me as stick figure sometimes and only recognize me on instinctual basis, not on how i actually look. true horrorshow
>>7680667it messes with my perception because other people who draw think I suck but normies are always obsessed with my art which makes me wonder if people see the world differently like an I just an orange blob to them
>>7680662Art is made by artists to normal people, not by artists to artist, your goal should be leaving your impression in the world and get different reactions, that's why people paint. You're gonna post something here that normies would say "pretty cool" but some retard "technical artist" here will say "shoulder is rotated 19 degrees wrong"
>>7680666>That said, I think I went against literally all your advice just now with picrel lolthats fine. in the end, as long as you keep drawing is all that matters. testing out gained skills is also important, just for example to gauge how good you've gotten at not just copying but seeing what you retained. like the figure you just referenced. next time try it without the reference, from memory and compare what is different afterwards.
>>7680671EXACTLY
if I show my art to normies they just praise how unique and beautiful it is and how they want a piece for their house and if I post it around other people who draw I just get ignored or insulted
the contrast is actually insane
i don't think you appreciate technical artistic skills unless you study it yourself in the western world
i guess the one thing I got going for me is impression
>>7680671Yeah but it's those technical skills and small details that leave the normies going
>wow how do you do that
>>7680666>pack/app suggestions? All the ones you like from the refs. general, I also like putting random stuff such as planes, cars, animals, etc., because it keeps you on your toes lol. The intervals usually increase as you move forward while the number if images does the opposite, say you draw 20 30 second images, then 10 for a minute, then 5 for 2 minutes, 2 for 5 minutes and finally 1 for 10. As for apps, an anon shared one a couple of threads ago that did just that, but irfanview lets you flips through images in a folder changing the interval as well
>>7680673Okay, will do anon, thank you! The face was actually an attempt at doing something without reference because I figured it's also something worth dipping my toes into despite it being early days. Scary and feels almost directionless, but I am happy with the result. Any advice on making it look less uncanny though?
>>7680700Oh, didn't even know there was a general for that, thanks.
>irfanviewthanks anon!
>>7680724>Any advice on making it look less uncanny though?experience :). just keep going for now. patience and persistence.
>>7680525ngl I thought this was a shota angel going by the thumbnail.
>>7680558wood
>>7680575Nice boobs.
>>7678575>@Nihu77Its been posted everywhere bro
>>7679911>>7679637Tried again with shadows, but I failed miserbly
>>7681046only because you didnt put the time in to outline all the shadows and then fill them in. its really just simple shapes stacked together. think of it like lego. next time you should try a simpler image maybe, look for a shadow heavy portrait, even a cartoon one would work and focus soley on the shapes of the shadows and the shapes of the light areas when you sketch. its a process to look at it the right way and it needs a good amount of concentration
>>7681050Okay. Thanks for the advice
>>7681055dont be discouraged by the failure and critique though. the early attempts will likely all be frustrating, but once at some point you will get it. one drawing at a time, fren!
how much do pngtubers go for on average? I never did comms before
the big head in the middle i saw in some album art and tried to draw from memory a few min after seeing it and the two smaller heads r just from out of nowhere.
>>7681114Anon, don't go with the "average". You see, I'm pretty much beg, and I get 70 dollar commissions regularly because I just gaslight the people that commission me into thinking my art is good.
gaslight people into paying more for your shit rather than going with averages.
Hello anons, this is horse bones. I've done more perspective rotations. I struggled a lot. I need to do more box rotations, but I'm moving on for now. Legs were the most difficult part; you can see how inconsistent the bottom half of my figures is. More extreme perspectives were also difficult. I probably don't understand how they look. I think I will take a 3D figure, try to draw it, fix it, and then redraw it. These are from imagination, so it was quite uncomfortable.
