>short growing season (local fruits and veggies are tasteless comparing to those from the south, which made eastern European people not put much attention to cooking as everything tastes the same so bad)
>generally hard life requiring constant work to survive in cold climate so people didn't have much time or will to cook sophisticated dishes

is there anything good about Eastern Europe? Seriously, at least one positive stereotype? Even thirdies with all their cons can at least bring good food, warm weather, beautiful landscapes and so on, while eastern Europe has not a single redeeming feature. Food is repulsive, weather is cold, landscapes are boring, people are depressed and perpetually angry. the only thing I can think of is beautiful women but that's something only foreigners can enjoy since they don't even date local men anymore

This is a huge reason why I hate the local dishes, it's just ultra fatty food with no flavour other than the metric ton of sour cream that we douse everything in while making fun of brownoids for doing the same thing but with spices

my mum was raised in a village here in the 1960s and i once asked her how often she'd eat these "traditional" polish dishes like pierogi, she replied never because no one ever had enough time to prepare any kind of special dishes, they would simply eat sauerkraut with potatoes and boiled meat + thick soup for every dinner and bread with milk for breakfast, so the simplest dishes to provide energy for the whole day of hard physical labor
most these "traditional Polish dishes" were only eaten either by rich nobles or even only de facto invented after WW2 when people started immigrating to cities and could finally have more time for culinary experiments.

There's nothing fancy about pierogi or whatever folk restaurants serve, they're dishes of peasantry. Nobles' cuisine was wildly distinct from what is considered traditional today, it was very spicy, they used plenty of ginger and other root spices, ate lots of fish, and even had access to avocado. I don't know about Poland, but I wouldn't necessarily say that just because there aren't many polish restaurants it means that the food is bad. There's loads of countries round the world that eat loads of their own stuff all the time and it's horrible

I think it's the same kind of reason there aren't loads of English restaurants here, lots of the food we eat traditionally is easy to make so when you go out you want to have something different. Plus tripe soup is a cold season dish. I love, but I'd never order it in summer, just like I wouldn't order chłodnik in winter. None of it is about the taste. Italian food isn't any harder to make than British or Eastern European food per se. It's just good. That's why you have an Italian restaurant on every corner in every Italian city and Italians don't eat anything else but Italian food. There are Italians who never tried a kebab or pad thai in their life not because they're racist but simply because they have no need to consume foreign food if their own is so good.
Really, there is nothing more to that. Good food = everyone eats it. Bad food = no one eats it, sometimes only looking for cheap excuses to justify it.

Poland B.
It was always flaki or rosół here. When I was young and boomers were still the majority of people at wedding parties, the guests would choose flaki/rosół like 50/50. Nowadays it's like 5/95. Rosół is more edible at least.

It's a single sentence from a random article with 0 sources. Yes, there is a point to discuss it further.
Even if it was a noble dish your claim about pierogi becoming popular only after WW2 is something you took completely out of your ass, it's not even in the article. Prove it or you're making shit up.
>yeah and they won't even let you in if you don't have reservation because their whole purpose is to organize weddings and other parties
Simply wrong. They're restaurants, I've been to many of them, and they're full of people. Once again you're making shit up.
>also, who cares about villages, most people live in cities
>Mieszkańcy wsi: Około 15,3-15,4 miliona osób (ok. 40% ludności).
>Mieszkańcy miast: Około 23,1 miliona osób (ok. 60% ludności).
40% of a 37 mil country is not something to be ignored, plus as I said these taverns are usually by the road near cities, so they do get clients from there. So this isn't even a relevant argument, no idea why you'd mention villages and cities.
>living in a big city it is basically impossible to find Polish cuisine in Poland
Yet again, wrong. Let's take Warsaw as an example - there's several Zapiecek restaurants in the city, some of them pretty much in the city center, and getting inside is difficult because there are lines of people waiting to get a table. So it's very popular.

I knew that you would bring this one. Do you realize Zapiecek serves mostly for foreign tourists and its only located in the old town and other tourist places? No one will drive from the suburb to the centre to eat something that barely even resembles traditional Polish kitchen because that would be inedible for Americans or Japanese

>Or at least per 1 zapiekanka shop there are 20 kebabs.
Correct, because, as I said, kebab shops work till late at night, and zapiekanka shops don't.
Yes, of course people eat it during the day too, they got used to it. It's served fast and you can hold it with one hand, unlike most of our dishes.
But compare pączki. Every city in Poland has a shop with pączki, nowadays they got more hipsterish and are served with 9246781 different fillings. And they are popular. That's much more comparable to kebab than a fucking tripe soup, although it's a sweet treat so it's not the same category either.
We simply don't have an equivalent of kebab, hence it's popularity. It filled an empty niche, and it's not really about the taste.
