First timer today with basically no planning. Had the PM ticket and got in at 13:30ish. Went to the east Halls first and some circles were already packing up, felt super stressful the whole 3 hours before it all closed. Ended up buying whatever random character or art i recognized to not feel it was a complete waste. Have a ticket for tomorrow as well, but not sure if any of the popular artists will still have stock left for PM entries, is that pretty much right? Any tips you anons have to make it a better experience?

I tried it for a month before getting bored with it like every other gacha, but it does have some nice character designs and good production values. I didn't care too much about the story and the gameplay is boring, it basically plays itself, but the first two points I've mentioned are basically enough for it to get popular and have people draw doujins for it.
Unlike with Kancolle I don't think they're paying off artists to draw it, it's just the current popular thing.

Forgot to mention but if it's like C105 the map will probably say that Day 2 will have most halls have "Originals and Fanfiction For Men". I got a bit confused when I saw that and thought it would mean stuff featuring original characters but the friend I was travelling with clarified it basically means porn, both with original characters but also anime, games, etc. It's mostly organized by fetish so if it's there a particular thing you like keep an eye open for the artist's banners and stuff. Like for example if you like tentacles then it's very likely all artists selling tentacle stuff will be close together in the same area.

Prior planning is essential if you want to do anything more than just soak up the atmosphere. Most importantly, figure out what groups/areas you want to see and have their location recorded somewhere (what hall, hall number, column, and stall number).
I use the online catalogue to look up and mark circles that I can print out for quick reference on the day, but you could also look up the twitter of some artists you know and see if any of them are participating (if so they'll have the details as part of their handle) and paste 'em onto your phone.
Tomorrow is mostly original male-orientated doujinshi/vtubers/touhou, so you should be fine just looking around 東4-7 if that'd interest you, or visiting the corporate booths at 南3-4 for general merch.

I've only come back to this shithole in the first time since the site went down earlier this year for this thread and the new release so forgive me if there's some stuff I'm missing, but I think the easiest answer is that /jp/ has been fractured dozens of times over the past several years with the most recent one of "mods are literally actively sabotaging /jp/ at every chance they get" along with less and less people wanting to hang out with anon's, because they've already exchanged contact information in previous meetups for the next as I imagine the people meeting up isn't a brand new cycle of people each time. I think there's some truth to the posting about a how a single IP dominating the IP is quite demotivating (specially when you consider how little variety there is withing that very IP - at least when FGO was king there was a wide range of genres of doujin since the cast was so vast and varied it appealed to pretty much everyone while all the BA slop is the same genre of male sensei x student stuff, with very little incentive behind non R18works ) but I also think that the economy being in the gutter is the primary cause behind the recline of comiket, printing a bunch of books for your niche interest a taking a trip to Tokyo for a two day convention just gets less financially viable the more time goes ones, so now everything becomes financially motivated, if you're not going to make a hefty profit at comiket then you're leaving with a big loss, and now a days it's harder to justify losing money because of a passion, so everyone is doing safe works, book that they know will sell which usually congregates among the same group of live service games with constant updates that make it almost impossible for seasonal anime or proper games to catch up.
The games already have a massive captive audience and they can shit out new characters a lighting pace compared to a game that might take 3-5 years to make and will get at best half a year in the spotlight if it all goes well. same for anime. Social media has also changed the landscape quite a bit, not only because of commissions but also because there's way more big artist, now everyone that's good at drawing and has an internet connection can make it big if they're lucky enough, so the number of big booths that feel corporate adjacent has also grown alongside the growth of actual corporate booths, since foreign companies are also constantly increasing their prescence
I don't really know if there's much of a way around it unless the economy suddenly gets super good out of nowhere, people won't indulge their freaky selves under the pressure of constant economic distress, the less time people and energy people have to sink into proper games or to watch a full anime, the more likely they're to simply play gacha for a couple of minutes a day and in a long enough timeline that ends up becoming their main fanbase
There's also something to be said about how organizing has become increasingly easier so smaller more focused events are also probably taking attention away from comiket from the real sickos, it's kinda like the Akiba thing where the real place is becoming dominated mostly by mainstream friendly shit but niche spaces are popping out everywhere because people have an easier time organizing on their own instead of depending of a single common space to share their hobbies.

Even ignoring the actual plot, the simple matter of fact that Sensei is there means it cannot be CGDCT, as CGDCT where interactions center almost exclusively around the male main character isn't CGDCT at all. You're not watching over them from above, you're an active part in the story.

Although I always pre-plan to see a lot of circles, I very rarely have anything I'm heavily set on buying and mostly browse and choose on the day. I don't generally go to the super popular circles (especially the outward facing "a" group ones with the longest lines), and even if there was one with something I wanted I know I can pick it up for a markup at らしんばん, まんだらけ, or online afterwards.
Anyway I'm pretty happy with the haul this time around, didn't have many issues with things being sold out when I got to the stall (besides in the corporate booths but that's whatever) and I finally can actually hold a converastion with some sellers, which were enjoyable the few times they happened.

I played BA for a couple years but dropped it earlier this year. To me I think the draw is the story which was exceptionally good up to a certain point but the gameplay is quite honestly horrible so without the story it definitely wouldn't have survived this long, very similar to FGO. Aside from that I think it's the heavy pandering mixed with the gacha format. Every student is for (You), there are pandering short stories and messages that appeal to the gosling crowd, story in general is very muh seishun so it hits with a very wide audience, art is mostly good, character costumes are mostly reserved but can on occasion be quite revealing which is somewhat rare in the current environment, loli content and a massive cast that appeals to nearly every niche, etc. The gacha format also allows them to release new characters every other week which consistently revitalizes interest. Artists will always flock to the current big thing and the designs themselves are quite simple so it's very easy for artists to shit stuff out and be incentivized to draw more because they want to cash out on the popularity. I could go on and on but there's really nothing else currently out that has such well conjured wide appeal and popularity. Put as simple as possible, it's the second coming of FGO in many ways. As a former player I'm quite indifferent to it at this point and honestly just want something else to take its place, but I also don't think it's weird that it's in the position it is because it has such a convincingly large number of things going for it.

I really enjoyed the story when I checked it out. At a certain point the dialogue suddenly became very saccharine and toothless though, I've heard this was because the game had a change in writers which sucks but happens a lot in live service games. And despite the (You) pandering the girls still have fun interactions with each other and act like assholes, and you could have memes and fanart for days from that. Calling it CGDCT isn't entirely accurate although some of the stories fall into that category.
The gameplay is paradoxically only fun when you're trying to tackle something way above your level, which means the longer you play it the worse it gets.
I think having an active and unified community is also a really huge factor. I remember dropping Touhou at some point because it's become too splintered, there's too much genwunning, and at the time there was this sentiment that fan games are more authentic than the official ones and that you should move over to those instead. It's just a shitty environment to be in. Same for many current popular franchises, you'll often walk into retards fighting over dev preferential treatment because how dare this game release a male/female character, or whatever the latest political shitstorm is, etc.
And yeah, one day the throne will be passed on and like Touhou, Botes, BA I hope it will continue to assert that cute young girl casts are supreme.

That was the A/B/C/D block entry time system used for C99-101 immediately after Covid. I believe foreigner orientated vendors only sold the later C and D block entry time tickets, so in that sense you're not wrong (though the majority of attendeeds with those tickets were still Japanese).
From C102 onwards they swapped to the current early access, AM, and PM tickets, which doesn't really have any major difference for foreigners vs residents (buying the early access tickets does require you to navigate a Japanese-only website and physically pick up the tickets at a Japanese konbini prior to the event, but I've never had any issues doing this as a foreigner).

To be clear, initially Blue Archive wasn't a runaway success. It wasn't completely DoA like Revived Witch or World Flipper post-wind nerf, but it seemed like it would remain niche and eventually get shut down by Nexon anyway
It was also marred with bullshit like constant maintenance, low event rewards, fucked up PvP, and various other dumb mistakes
Eventually though, it started turning around. My guess for this is that it's a combination of several factors:
