The problem with this parade, as I see it:
1. Trump is a circus act - anything he does will inspire partizan politics. You will have people hate him for the parade and hate the parade because of him.
2. The soldiers here looked genuinely uncomfortable with themselves and what they were doing. It might reflect the whole military climate there. I am no expert but I hear of wokeism, recruiting troubles due to youngsters caring less than ever before, a bad public image and so on. And so the guys here looked like they were lost. They were ambling around rather than marching. Why? Is marching and looking all traditionally army bad PR? The music, the sponsor shit that people are talking about? Not traditional. To compare with the organization of a 14th of July parade (because it's what I know), material preparations for the units involved can start a few months in advance for the vehicles that will participate, the units involved know very long in advance that they'll participate so they can organize without impacting their normal activities too much, and there's a good 7 to 10 days of intense drills for everyone in the run up to the actual parade.

Seems to me the troops on parade seldom do parade drills, and maybe rehearsed the parade once or twice beforehand.

Is this a huge blow? No, thankfully the USA is not China and has a good track record of actual combat and deployments all over the world, so they can cling to that, but it is nonetheless really bad image and something that should simply not be ignored. Image can make you look weak, and weak people get picked up by others and seem less trustworthy by friends, and worse, it is the sort of thing that you cannot simply undo with another good parade or victory, because now it can be used by others to remind everyone how, at that moment in time, the USA could not do something right. That is the real damage here.
