What upgrades will the F-22 Super and F-55 have?

HMD, CCA integration, they seem to be testing a new silver coating speculated to have better performance against infrared, stealthy drop tanks, an IRST system that seems to be podded but may end up not being that since Lockheed is pitching something called IRDS that is apparently an upgrade over its old infrared sensors for the MAW system, and finally new missiles. F-55 is probably someone explaining F/A-XX as similar to a twin engine F-35 and Trump running with it without understanding it. The future of that program probably depends heavily on what Ken Calvert can push through as chair of Defense Appropriations, though that whole committee seems in favor of funding it so Navy might get that in the budget through their wishlist. F-35 is getting TR3, Block IV, an engine upgrade eventually, and a lot of new weapon integration though that’s taking a long time.

I don’t think there’s anything to go ahead on. Lockheed got dropped from the Navy program and lost the Air Force one, while the F-35 program is behind on everything. They can’t accommodate a 6th gen program currently. Trump is also notorious for not really paying attention in briefings then saying a bunch of stuff based completely off vibes, F-55 was never real. It’s possible he was confused after being told about an F/A-XX demonstrator, since a retired Navy pilot listed experience flying a “YF-45D” on his LinkedIn not long ago, which would fit with NGAD becoming F-47 and the new drones being -42 and -44

An A-10 could fly slow enough and low enough to shoot down a swarm of drones by carrying 114 APKWS rockets plus 1174 rounds in its gun, and it could loiter for a long time between refueling compared to other platforms. Plus, it could be forward deployed where the F-35 can't. So, an updated A-10 anti-drone package could be incredibly useful.

TWR of an engine by itself is a bullshit number that can be massaged up and down by including or not including the weight of fluids, nozzle, secondary air systems, fadec, etc. I can claim an FXXX on a test stand has a TWR of 12+ by only counting the gaspath parts, or that it has a TWR <6 by including the fuel system of the airframe. Total TWR of a combat configured aircraft can be compared directly and maybe sort of matters for dogfight benchracing, but every published engine weight number is fudged.
