I'm finally getting my own house innawoods on 5 acres. It's well hidden from the road and no neighbors very close by.
I want to get a pistol I can open carry in a holster while I do stuff in the shop or out landscaping.
I've only had concealable pistols before, so the idea of having a full size that I don't have to worry about printing with is a novelty.

Kind of thinking about celebrating with something gucci like a mk23, but I'm certainly open to more reasonable ideas.

The 43x is awesome for me, shoots smooth, super narrow, palm swell on the grip works well. I carry it in a tenicor holster and barely even notice it over a ten hour day

Maybe not "chunky" as it's literally too thin, but but actual length of the grip doesn't seem to match the shorter slide on top leading to an overall bigger profile.

Well because the gun is thinner, the flat board of a grip is even harder to hold on to, considering my hands aren't perfectly flat I can feel a pocket of weak grip or air on the side of the gun as I hold it, which is probably why the recoil was so bad in the first place.

To continue last thread's discussion a bit, if I had a super safe briefcase for multiple handguns, I'd be less concerned about if some Tyrone could crack it, and more concerned about it being stolen. To that end, I'd have a GPS chip inside it. That way, if it got stolen, I'd be able to find the person who did it, and then they'll look uglier than Berettatroon once I'm done with them. Started with a 17, got a Staccato P. Shoot the P better when I push the pace but if I slow fire them they are fairly similar. I didn’t sell any pistols to get it. I must have been spoiled by Glock because I’m not a fan a “duty” pistol such as the Staccato P has as many issues as mines had

started with a 92, moved to PX4s, got bitten by the 1911 bug, got a 2011. My first thoughts of my 2011 was that it was not all that impressive versus my PX4 (which I shoot better than my 92s). Some more time on it really made it shine how easy it is to shoot versus other guns but is it worth the price? Not really, but the cheaper ones are very competitive versus souped up duty pistols.

That's what I keep telling myself, but I'm not sure I buy it anymore. I can shoot it confidently from low ready, but I can't get a consistent presentation from the holster after countless reps and lots of casual matches. My draw to first shot is miserable on the clock, and when I get a firm grip on it in the holster it always comes up rotated to the left. The flat sides don't seem to fit my hands, and the lack of traction makes me struggle to keep a consistent grip without deathgripping it and fatiguing myself on longer strings. Rubber stick on grips helped that quite a bit, but I still feel like I have to unlearn everything to get really good with it and I don't want to stop shooting other guns I enjoy more and shoot better. I only carry the Glock because it's simple, light and rugged.

I clean gun stuff with automotive brake or carb cleaner depending on what I'm cleaning, not dedicated products so I have no idea what they'd be putting in that that isn't finish safe. I've never seen a gun parts finish that wouldn't hold up to carb or brake clean.
