I now realize picrel - used, with threaded barrels - could cover all pistol bases for cheap. The golden pair, really. But I failed and did buy something else. I believed I knew better. I did not. I now walk the path of shame and regret.

Share your minimalism philosophy. Handgunism or long-gunism alike.

Why stop there? Why not Glock 34 and Glock 43X.

I don't like middle of the road guns at my current age, ie 16" AR15 and Glock 19. I would rather having something like a relatively naked 18" SPR, an 11.5" SBR with all the bits, a Glock 47 with all the bits, and a naked Glock 43X

They're both fine guns, the 17 a bit more so than the 26, but realistically there's nothing that either one of them do that couldn't be accomplished by the 19. If you want peak handgun minimalism, that would be the way to go over a 17 and 26 combo.

I agree with this but I think there's still minimalism there. you should get something for your "needs" if that means the hills of Idaho then spr. if you live in the city maybe 11.5, same with handguns. bear country may mean your minimalist setup is a 44, if you're in Florida and wear shorts and a tank top daily maybe it's one of the plethora of micro carry guns.

Nothing wrong with getting a Glock and sticking with it. It is effective enough that you can get good and use it to do pretty much everything you need a pistol to do, unless it involves protecting yourself from bears in which case a Glock 20 might be more appropriate.

Challenging but possible, I was able to hit steel at 75 yards with my 23.
>>64063508
43x carries better and it isn't like they are particularly rare or expensive.
26 is a bit of a chunky gun for concealed carry.
>>64063699
It'll do everything you need a shotgun to do, but a shotgun isn't the right tool for every job. It can do most of them in a pinch, but some not so well.
That's why I think a good NPC tier load out is a Glock 19, Mossberg 500 combo and a good budget AR. It won't excite anyone, but it's 3 reasonably affordable guns that will do basically everything you need.

For handguns, the true minimalist setup is with a Glock 27.

Have G27
>add 9MM barrel
>add .357Sig barrel
You now have a total of three different calibers to choose from. Each of which, with the right ammo, can fulfill nearly any role youd ever employ a handgun to fill.

But wait! Theres more!

>.22LR upper
>.380ACP upper from a G28
>.45GAP upper from a G39

You now have six guns in one. Not to mention the fact that it can use any available size of magazine for a standard frame Glock.

Subcompact Glocks are truly Perfection. Especially in regards to minimalism

Why do you need a 17 if you have a 26?
I use a 42 and a 26, with the 42 being far more comfortable in summertime, and the 26 occupying my waist band in the winter time.

If you want the best minimalist option, I think a p32 and an RXM would easily cover everything you need, especially when they release the g26 and g45 grip modules. If you got 2 RXMs, you could have with a 45 module for the range and one with a 26 grip for carry. If one breaks just switch the slide over to the grip that fits your needs, or just keep one with the g19 grip.

I do like the idea of a minimalist setup, but I've found that 3 guns is best. P32 for absolute minimalist carry innapocket and px4 compact for belt carry will cover all your needs indeed, but, because the p32 is really a pocket only gun, there is a need for a pocket gun that can also be carried AIWB.

My 3rd gun option is the true minimalist workhorse, an in betweener that can flex from pocket to belt carry. This option is a J frame, preferably in 32 mag.

I can carry the J innapocket, but it can also flex into a capable AIWB option. I can use a holster (Harrys icon 2.0) or just Mexican carry it with the Hamre forge hook grips. This makes the J frame an extremely versatile option, and if I had to sell all my guns, the 32 J would be the last one to go for this reason.

A J with a hook grip is a self contained pistol which is why I own multiples. No magazines, no holster, no gun belt is needed. Just grab and go, regardless of attire. I still keep the px4 and stiff belt in the truck as an option, but the 32 J gets carried 95% of the time I am outside the house. Only reason I have a p32 in addition to this is because the size and weight is needful with some attire.

I think they discontinued it shortly after release. There are probably some still floating around. SCS is a shit meme, don't get it. When are you going to be leaving your handgun out in the light to "recharge"? If I was buying a Glock I'd unironically just get a COA.

Basically exactly what I've been going for, though my AR is low/mid and my "big" handgun is a 19 instead of a 17 since it was my only handgun when I got it so I needed it to be somewhat concealable.

.308 boltgun (probably a Ruger American Gen 2) coming next, along with maybe a hunting shotgun.

>>64063499
I found the 19 a little too limiting for CC myself. 19 and a micro are a nice combo though, the 19 works for carry about half the time and the micro does the rest.

If you want to go truly minimal, I see no utility in a full-sized handgun. "Oh it's got a bit less recoil and a bit more ammo", almost never going to matter for any practical purpose.
I've thought about ditching basically all my guns except for my P2000SK and 16" AR-10 (I want the range and game taking ability, it rips fast enough at close ranges and I'm not worried about sustained firefights). But I can't sell the guns I got from grandad and if I'm going to have 6 guns, I might as well have 20.

It's crossed my mind but I almost never leave the house in anything I can't carry the Shield comfortably in, except when I'm riding my motorcycle but in that case I prefer to carry off-body (tank bag) anyway because hard objects in your pockets can cause pretty serious injuries in a crash. If I do get another handgun it's more likely to be a snub magnum revolver or a compact 10mm because I'd like something for bears when backpacking, fishing, or motocamping.
