I had a great day at the range today. Hit multiple milestones

And really shot my Nighthawk Predator. At the range I actually used the IOS optic system and swapped between irons, RMR, and ACRO without having to touch optic screws once. Return to zero between swaps is as advertised.

The mechanic skill of shooting better will transfer over to any other shooting. Being able to shoot better, through better trigger control, index, recoil control, etc will transfer over to any other shooting that involves a pistol.

I am not saying a competition shooter is going to clear a kill house safer and better than someone who’s specifically trained in CQC, but the skills of a competitive shooter will transfer over to anything else involving a trigger. Don’t strawman.

The CSX was literally designed for you. SAO, aluminum frame, double stack, manual of arms better than a micro 1911. Kimber also has a CSX like pistol, I hear good things. CDS9. Kimber also has a larger not a 2011-2011 called the KDS9, also heard good things about it. I have a CSX, good shooting gun, but it gave me the itch for a real 1911/2011 and my bank account has never recovered.

I would look at the CZ-75s, people complain about the firing pin retaining pin but you can replace that with an aftermarket one that doesn’t break. The Shadow 2 Compact and Carry (two completely different pistols, one steel/safety and one aluminum/decocker) seem to be in your alley. My carry of choice was a 92 Compact which I say can have an amazing trigger for not that much money, but it was too wide for actual concealment. I had to wear a hoodie and other cover garments, just a T shirt was pushing it. The PX4 Compact has the same trigger geometry as the 92, possible can have a better trigger than the 92, and is smaller and thinner than a 92 compact. I love my PX4 Compact

I would see if you can try out the CSX or the kimbers.

cc9 blog post and review: I hit 1,500 rounds recently and would like to tell anons about it so they can either make an informed decision about purchasing it or shit on it in a more calculated way

Steel cased hornady critical duty 147gr. S&B 124 gr. I've also shot 30 rounds of federal +P through it just because the cc9 is rated for it.

I only really got into shooting handguns since october but I've shot about 17,000 rounds since then, I autistically track round count/ammunition type/noteworthy events. Up until very recently I've cautioned anons saying my opinion comes from a novice but with with the caliber of posters here nowadays I feel like it's worthy. The grip angle doesn't matter too much because I dry fire it daily and just sort of get used to it. I only 'notice' these things when I take a whole bunch of different pistols out to shoot or borrow my friends. To me it's more about getting out of the groove of a certain pistol and switching it up. I find the cc9 to be way more comfortable, especially while shooting it fast. My support hand thumb doesn't have a great place to go on the csx. Some people talk about the inconsistency of the e series trigger but mine is about 4 pounds and is crisp with no false reset. If you're a 1911 type pistol fanboy or appreciate metal guns then go for the csx. It's pretty cool being able to have a 17 round backup magazine too. I do think for your average person the cc9 is the better buy though

considering it as i wish to move to a da/sa gun and my time with 92fs's is making me lean to beretta for an edc. Theres plenty of videos and articles on how it is to shoot but nobodys really talking about how it is to carry around as a ccw. Are there any considerations to keep in mind or is this whole gun overhyped garbage.

It's a very popular carry piece here in /hg/. I got mine earlier this year and it's replaced my Glock 19 as my EDC. I love keeping my thumb on the hammer as I holster it so I know 100% that the trigger isn't caught on anything.

I shoot it frequently and even though it's a compact polymer, it shoots as soft as my fullsize 92fs. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I AIWB it with an enigma rig (I find it more comfortable). AIWB it puts the fatness at your groin and especially so with my enigma rig that I ride lower so the grip is inline with my belt. Plan to test it on the one that just came in yesterday to my local shop. Not overly concerned on it though, I've done tuning on 1911s and 2011s in the past, if the trigger is really awful I'll throw my factory Staccato trigger into it. The main complaints I've seen about them is the grip texture is god awful which I've already felt for myself on a commander length model my local shop already had in the case. I've probably taken a dozen new or first time shooters to my range in the last year. Friends, parents, coworkers, girlfriend etc. Here are my observations in regard to people's general unfamiliarity with handguns

One of the things that Ben says that equipment does matter, he says people like to buy cool stuff and that can motivate people to go to the range. Buying a shot timer allowed me to effectively train my draw at home, I set up a drill with a timelimit of whatever my target time is so it will beep and then have a second beep after X seconds. This was really the only way to get real feedback on time.

I try to see my red dot or the sights on target before the second beep when I’m training at home. In reality when I went to the range I wasn’t seeing the dot before I fired, I was just confident that it would be there and I was mostly right - so in a way my sub second draw speed is cheating.

You can set up the timer to detect dryfire or airsoft, but I haven’t tried. With a DA/SA you should dryfire DA/SA, full trigger pull on the DA and then you pretend to pull the SA trigger on the DA pull without letting the trigger reset. Ben said that in a video and it really helps, Ben says he watches DA/SA shooters miss the second shot since in their dryfire they don’t practice the transition between DA and SA.

hello /hg/ today I want to tell you a story of gun control and rubber.
after the fall of USSR and rise of banditism, in late 90s mid 2000s Russia introduced weapons of limited stopping power (it became to be referred as traumatic pistols or non-lethal guns but that's not really correct)
the requirements set by the law were:
muzzle energy under 150 joules (110 ft-lbs in mutt units)
now you might think, wow, that's more than 22lr! but the bullet CANNOT contain metal. so while it technically could be made of plastic like thunderzap rounds in america, it wouldn't work because there's another requirement: barrel obstructions. the barrel must have obstructions that prevent you from firing metallic rounds (it actually works, try firing lead and you'll blow yourself up. replacing the barrel.. is another matter, it could be done very easily by someone with a lathe and appropriate skills resulting in an illegal pistol)
so it was fine and all, there were lots of various fun pistols and a very unique one called OSA (wasp), it was a four-barreled break action compact electrically-ignited gun using special 18mm shotgun shells that had rubber slugs with a steel core (somehow allowed, since it doesn't have a barrel.)
other calibers were: 9mm PA (it's actually just 9mm PAK pistole automatik knall without the knall - blank, a german round for blank/gas firing pistols derived from 9mm, with a 1g rubber ball pressed into it)
10x28, 10x22, .45 rubber and many more
but the thing is. in 2011 they changed the allowed muzzle energy was lowered down to 91 joules (67 ft-lbs) because the guns were just too lethal. some pistols had less obstructions in the barrels so you could easily get up to 250 joules (184 ft-lbs) with a 1g rubber bullet that penetrated deeply. lots of people were killed and they figured the solution was to reduce the muzzle energy. one factor is that people think of those rubber guns as non-lethal and use them more frequently than they would use actual guns.. cont.

but they didn't confiscate the old 150 joule ammo after the new law. they just outlawed it's production. so to this day, this old 150 joule ammo is known as "doreforma" and a box of it can easily cost 300$ from 2011, and it's no longer produced (stock, new ammo costs 8$ per box) so it's kinda like machineguns produced before the year the NFA update took place in US but funnier.
also, reloading rubber ammo is outlawed (reloading your own ammo for LETHAL guns is fine)
some people press the rubber balls down the casing to increase velocity, some use special weights to determine which manufacturing dates have more gunpowder for more muzzle energy, etc etc. it's overall a mixed bag, and doing that shit is illegal (the prosecutors can easily determine if you tampered with the ammo)
current stock pistols of 91 joule still can kill (it's not non lethal, it's LESS lethal!), but only in the head. it's like a 22 but only lethal to the head.
stories are very mixed. some people are stopped by 2-3 bullets to the body/legs/arms, some are not stopped by the full magazine (magazines are capped by 10 rounds. yes it sucks, but only for pistols, because the magazine is not considered a primary part you can use any mag in long guns)
I'd like for this shit guns to be outlawed so that we'd have normal pistols but it's not happening. it's all we have.
